    Veal chop with arugula

We have lots of fond memories of the space when it was a popular jazz club Sweet Basil. For years we've driven by and wondered about the food. We finally made a reservation on Halloween and were seated in the window where we had a perfect view of some pretty clever costumes. The space feels completely different and much larger than before. There's an entrance on Bleeker street, a pizza oven and bathrooms downstairs. About the food- we started with cocktails, ordered bone marrow topped with steak tartare, we ordered braised octopus and the veal chop. Service was great and so was the food. People rave about their burgers and pasta - we'll have to return and try them.

    Short Rib Fettuccine

I saw the Short Rib Fettuccine while I was browsing Restaurant Week menus maybe a year ago and have had this restaurant on my list ever since. It was a bit of the letdown. The short rib was perfectly cooked and flavorful, but the pasta was plain and unflavored. Mixing in the short rib didn't do much for the flavor. The staff was attentive, especially when the rain started pouring. They acted promptly to keep the rain out of the restaurant. The restaurant was loud, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. It was a vibe when our section of the restaurant started singing to the music.

Came for date night with my wife one Friday evening. Very good and love the pastas. Tough to get a seat so need to make a res in advance. Service was very kinda. Would certainly come back for the cacio e pepe!

Went for the NYC summer restaurant week dinner for $45. Had a really good lobster pasta and tiramisu. What was weird, was that on a hot day they kept the doors and windows opened and couldn't keep the restaurant cool. Of course, they had to close doors/windows later on. D'uh

My best friend and I decided to catch up over dinner at Suprema Provisions, and it was definitely a great choice for a Friday night. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming. I got there a little early and took a seat at the bar, where I enjoyed a delicious sunflower-powered drink, which was very refreshing and delish and not strong with liquor. The bartender was super courteous and attentive, checking in to make sure I was comfortable and if I needed anything. Once my friend arrived and we were seated, our waitress continued the excellent service. She was incredibly attentive, providing recommendations and helping us navigate the menu. She gave us a great rundown of what was popular and what she personally enjoyed, which really helped us decide on our meal. We started with a cheese board--because who doesn't love a good cheese board for a chat? It was a perfect choice. The atmosphere was chill at first but quickly became lively as the night went on. This spot is definitely a happening place on West 4th, surrounded by tons of dining options. People were constantly walking by and deciding to come in, which says a lot about its popularity. Overall, I highly recommend Suprema Provisions--the food is tasty, the service is excellent, and the vibe is just right. Whether you're catching up with a friend or just looking for a great meal in the area, it's definitely worth a visit!

Outdoor seating was a major vibe in the summer. Great people watching walking on the sidewalk in the heart of west village. The owner was really sweet and attentive to us during restaurant week. A really good dog says hi to the restaurant a lot. The cacio e Pepe was hollow noodles which was interesting. The flavor was good. The shrimp was fine. The burger was also okay. Not as amazing as I expected. The tiramisu was and panacotta were good but average. Nothing really stood out here other than the service and ambiance. Inside was pretty big too and spacious.

The short rib pasta did not disappoint!! The truffle deviled eggs were great also. Service was pretty good, they were sure to get me out in time to make it to the show I was headed to.

Honestly overpriced. The food was good. The drinks are good. But you can't substitute or take things away from your order which is weird? I asked for penne vodka with chicken and the waitress replied "we don't do that." Ok. Anyway the drinks are $17-$20 each. It's good but def overpriced. The other restaurants around here are packed with long waits and this was the only empty one. I can understand why.

My friend and I split a pasta and salad - a perfect amount of food to not feel overly full! We also got the truffled devil eggs - came with 1.5 eggs. Sooo delish! The staff was also very nice and quick to pour wine, assist. Dim lighting for a moody NYC spot. Will definitely be going back to try the suprema burger and short rib fettuccine!!

We passed this place walking by and decided to try this for dinner. Glad we did! Service was very attentive and friendly. Had great conversations with several staff members. Great apps and wine. Loved our charcuterie board. The food was delicious and the dessert was fantastic. Loved the vibe and ambience!

    Tuna tartar

Burger was probably one of the best burgers I've ever had! Tuna tartar was also delicious as well as the cocktails

    Salumi & Formaggi
    Marianne F.

The salumi and cheese plate was nice, but the rest of the dishes were average, over salted. The black polenta "puck" with the octopus was unappetizing. The music was so loud (and bad) it was hard to talk. Service was indifferent. And, it was pretty expensive. I don't be back, sorry.

    Restaurant week , fabulous choices
    Gerard S.

Lucky enough to try this place for the first time during restaurant week in NYC. The prefixed menu offered a three course assortment with with is three choices for appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Our party of four selected of variety so we could all try as many as possible. There wasn't a single option that we did not love. Appetizers included Truffle, deviled eggs, Cristini with whipped ricotta, honey, and toasted nuts, and a grilled artichoke. Service was amazing, and we were constantly approached for added water, asking about more cocktails and questioned on if we were satisfied with the food. For the main courses, there were five options we were able to try four of them, including, cace e pepe , a wonderful fettuccine with braised short ribs, a burrata pasta with pancetta, and an amazing grilled sirloin burger with a toasted brioche bun.

Service is fast and friendly, and the food is pretty good too. My one complaint is that it is extremely loud! My ears actually hurt after watching one of the Knicks games. I wish they would turn the volume down for the music and the broadcast. My friends who were there had to wear earplugs, which I would have used if I had them. For that reason, I'm hesitant to come back, but if that excites you, I think you would love this place.

I was killing time before a show, otherwise you'd never catch me dead in this part of town. It was busy, but service was prompt. They have basics, cosmo, martinis, margarita, aviation, jack and soda, mules, and cheap wine. Food includes salads, Rubens, chicken sandwiches, pizzas (but do you really wanna get your New York style pizza from here?). Lots of shareable apps like quesadillas, wings, shrimp, mozzarella sticks, fries, sliders, nachos. They also have burgers. Again, not fancy, not mind-blowing. But an easy place to step into a chill for a while when you have some time to kill on broadway.

There are no signs, and you walk up a set of steps and through a thick curtain to get inside. It's tucked into an old brownstone and very easy to miss. We went right around 7pm, and it was completely empty. That actually makes sense since Broadway shows start around then, so it's a great time to hit a bar or restaurant in the area. We sat at the bar. Service was a bit mixed. The bartender we had wasn't very friendly, but we did get our drinks without issue. We ordered a couple of Mexican mules and a martini. The martini was fabulous -- definitely the standout. Unfortunately, the mules were not great. I was also hoping for some specialty or holiday cocktails, but there weren't any. That said, the space itself is beautiful and has a cool, hidden-gem feel. The other staff we interacted with were very nice -- we just happened to get the grumpy bartender. Would I go back? Probably not, but only because there are so many other places in NYC I'd want to try. Still, it's a cool spot (if you can find it).

The bar is not marked by a sign either. What may have been a hidden secret in the past is not so much a secret these days. They take reservations over phone up to one week in advance. There's a number of tables and booth seating, and a few bar seats available for a walk in. The menu of food is pretty decent though lacking in many vegetarian or vegan options. I opted for a grilled cheese sans the bacon and it was good. The grilled cheese has goat cheese in it which may not be for every one. I had an aviation drink and a glass of riesling. The cocktail was pretty standard. The wine was good. Service was generally good and attentive at the bar. The host in the front was kind. It seems like they have a coat check which I did not use. There is one bathroom in the back. The bar is definitely more crowded pre and post theater. It was packed 5pm-7pm but around 7pm, it became noticeably quiet and the bar emptied out. I'd suggest coming here while a show is playing to avoid a crowd. However, even with a packed house, the bar was not loud. Of course, if you prefer a pre or post theater cocktail, I'd recommend a reservation to guarantee entry. While this bar won't be known for its drinks or food, I think much of the allure stems from the location and the reputation for attracting famous clientele. It's a pretty chill place in the midst of crazy Times Square, so I'd definitely come back. While it may attract some tourists (if they find out about it), it generally seemed to cater to the wider New York crowd (I.e Manhattanites but also Westchester folk, Long Islanders, New Jerseyans driving in, etc)

Instead of taking the review as constructive criticism and maybe improve their service, he decided to be hateful. The food was "nice" but not great. Didn't receive what we ordered, and service was nonexistent. The business owner's response is very disappointing. In late November, we went to Bacall's to soak up the holiday spirit. And my goodness, they was full of holiday spirit!!! From the moment we walked in, the inside was decked out with crazy amount of decorations. You go up the staircase to upper level to the main dining area. It was called Frosty's Christmas Bar inside the Bacall's, and it sure was spectacular. Decoration in every inch of the place, from top to bottom. In addition to that, they had a few photo-op spots, which were really fun too. We ordered some drinks, Meet Me at Bacall's, Espresso Martini, and White Sangria. I liked that they had some blueberries in the Meet Me at Bacall's and the White Sangria. All the drinks were all nice and tasty, and a good portion too. For food, one of us ordered Braised Short Rib, but we somehow received Filet Mignon... Since the server never really came back to check on us, we just had that. It was a nice dish, although it was not what we ordered. Linguini Vongole was nice, the pasta was cooked well, coated in the flavorful sauce. It had a good amount of clams. Steak Frites was tasty. The steak was cooked just the way I wanted, juicy and flavorful. It was a nice sized steak, very filling too. The fries were addictive, went great with the steak. For dessert, I was very interested in their layer cake. I saw a few pictures of it, and looked really good. Bacall's 16 Layer Cream Cake looked different from the pictures I saw, which was all ivory color. The one we received was festive with red and green, perfect for holiday dessert. Unfortunately, it only looked good. Each layer of cake was a bit tough, and not as creamy as I thought it would be. Good thing we also ordered Japanese Cheesecake, because it was quite good. I was very curious what makes it "Japanese" cheesecake. When it arrived, I got it. The cake was round and stacked on top of each other, looks like popular and famous Japanese soufflé pancakes. We had a fun dinner there, with overload of holiday decorations. The atmosphere was perfect to take in the holiday spirit. However, we couldn't say the same for the service. At the beginning, it was ok, but then we felt like we were forgotten by our waiter. The place was not that busy when we visited... He never really came by to check on us, or brough our check. We had to get whoever else around to get our check. When we saw that they already included 20% tip to the check, although there were just three of us, we understood the bad service. If they thought they are going to get 20% tip regardless, then they might think they don't need to provide good service... Bringing the wrong dish, never checking on us, etc. Regardless to say, we were disappointed with the service. But, it was a fun place to go visit during the holiday season.
