Rene and I took the Malibu tour with David today. This tour is a one of kind experience that is full of history, fabulous beaches and some celebrity homes also. If you are traveling in the area take the Malibu tour. It is worth it.

My friends and sister went on a 3.5 hour tour yesterday. David was our driver. He was so knowledgeable on history where he was showing is the locations whether its beaches and homes of the celebrities. He was fun, friendly , funny and he very safe driver! Id totally recommend this tour to everyone a d hoping you get David. He is the best !! Awesome dude! The company is blessed and fortunate to have him!! Good vibes!!!!!

Van is dirty, that's unsat. Other than that, it's a good tour company.

This is a pretty dam good tour company. The black lady, I forget her name, is very knowledgeable about the L.A area. She is a former actress and very informative about the area. The company would of got 5 stars from me if they were a little bit more organized and cleaner. It's not a big deal, but then again, it is a big deal. The van was very dirty, especially on the outside. That is unacceptable. Other than that, the tour company is good. They need to stress safety more too. Especially, seatbelt rules. Get more seatbelts!!

I was very very happy with my decision to spend the afternoon with Surf City Tours seeing the sites in LA. I took the Hollywood tour (they also have a Malibu tour which I will be going on next time ). The bus was pretty full and everyone quickly wound up becoming friendly. Even though we all came separately, it was a really cool group vibe thanks mostly to the guide who did a great job of making everyone feel comfortable and excited. So as the tour starts, I'm there trying to take pics and videos and post them to my IG story. The first thing I noticed was that there was so much stuff that we got to see right off the bat, we were seeing so many cool landmarks and celebrity homes that I couldn't keep up on IG . Generally, that was one of the best most pleasant surprises was the sheer quantity of cool things we got to see - it blew my expectations out of the water. LA is such a cool city, but being from San Diego we definitely take it for granted and just think about the traffic and how it takes forever to drive there But this tour reminded me about how there is no other city in the world like LA - I mean its mf HOLLYWOOD! Around every corner is a location from a movie, or a celebrity's home, or a landmark where something happened that is part of our pop culture history. The other thing that exceed my expectations was the fact that no only was I seeing cool shit but the driver knew so much about the city and its history. I was learning stuff I never knew about this place and never would have learned if I didn't take the tour. I came away afterwards with a new appreciation for LA and all that it has meant for everyone who has ever watched a movie. For the logistics - its a long tour - ours was about 5 hours so be prepared to spend the whole day. They stop for lunch at a farmers market where people have seen celebrities shopping, etc. They also stop downtown by the walk of fame, so you will get chances to get out and stretch your legs and grab something to eat or a beer. Also, the bus is open air so you don't have to worry about being stuck inside all day long. When I went it was a little cold out but they had blankets in the van for everyone who needed a little extra warmth. Trust me you will see everything that you would expect and more - even the Hollywood sign. It's the perfect activity for maybe your last full day in town when you don't want to think or plan your day - you just show up and get on the bus It would also prob be good for the day after you plan on going out the night before - easy day for a hangover You also don't have to stay in LA proper - you can stay in Santa Monica by the beach and completely avoid having to drive in all that traffic that everyone talks about. If you're from San Diego like me - I would totally recommend Surf City for an easy weekend trip with your significant other. It's super easy to drive into Santa Monica and you will feel more at home out by the beach like I did You get a hotel, some dinner reservations, one day to explore Santa Monica/go to the beach, and one day to let someone else do the driving and see some really cool stuff that you wouldn't be able to see anywhere else. They will even pick up and drop off at your hotel. Also, I'm pretty sure all the other tour companies pick up and drop off from downtown LA which is obvi a pain in the ass to get to and back from. I'm telling you - Valentines Day, anniversary, etc. It's perfect and you'll def score some points. Next time I go up that way I'm going to check out the Malibu tour which is shorter - I'll be sure to post about that one too.

Had a blast on the Malibu tour! David was our guide, and it is clear that he truly enjoys what he does. We went on this tour while on our honeymoon, and David made us feel very special and celebrated! We learned so much, and we felt so entertained and taken care of! Glad we chose to go on this tour!

Destin did an excellent job as a tour guide on our first ever Malibu Celebrity homes tour. His knowledge and humor kept our cameras on record. I probably got his name wrong...Dustin...sorry...it was fun, perfect driving!

ORDER DETAILS: Purchase ID: xxxxxxxx Order Summary: Haunted Santa Monica Ghost Tours (6x Adults) Subtotal: $210.00 Taxes & Fees: $15.28 Discounts: $0.00 Total: $225.28 Thanks, Jeb --------------------------- This tour was run by Zack and Candace, two really friendly people. Zack is super energenic, threw dad jokes, and would be an awesome person for regular tours (not haunted tours), and Candace helped tell half the stories. Not sure how this averaged 5-stars. I would give it 0-stars if possible. Biggest disappointment and waste of money. Our group of 10 people all felt scammed. Wasn't what we expected at all. The places we went to were just too crowded to set the mood. Most of the "facts" that were described weren't delivered well to draw us into the stories. Good information on the buildings, but all the haunting stories didn't have any emotions behind it to create the atmosphere. That coupled with the noise and crowdedness of the entire tour just took everyone completely out of it. The whole tour was missing the Mystery aspect of a haunted tour. Delivery of the stories using "factual" statements such as "EMF" and "Séances" does not make it scary, mysterious, or convincing. Not even drugs or alcohol would make it close to what you would expect (Not to say there was any of that involved). TLDR; If your not doing this for your 5 year old kids, don't waste your money or time. Additionally, the tour sent me an email asking to rate my review from 1-5 stars. If you pick anything below 5-stars you get sent to a fake reviewing site that doesn't allow you to submit; Clicking 5-stars sends you to this Yelp page. That's just terrible. https://pro.peek.com/reviews/sample/5907ae6893d2da304f00005b/1

Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and showed us pictures and video that really helped us get a real feel of how Venice was before the 1950's and after. Its such a shame that so much is gone. I felt transported into another time during this tour and completely geeked out every time he mentioned something about Charlie Chaplin. Something I'd prepare for is making sure you wear comfortable shoes though, because you walk for about 3 1/2 hours. I didn't mind the trek, but if you aren't a fan of being mostly on your feet, this may be the wrong tour for you. I highly recommend this tour and definitely wasn't disappointed. I now have a completely different perspective of Venice through its history. I absorbed everything he talked about like a sponge. As soon as I got home, I started telling everyone what I learned. So, whether you're a tourist or a local who wants to learn more about where you live, give this tour a shot. You won't be disappointed =)

To be perfectly honest, I'm not always a history fan, but this tour seamlessly integrated multimedia and information in a way that engaged my imagination and truly brought the tour to life. The coolest part for me was the video clips that he showed on his iPad while we were walking. It must have taken great detective work to figure out exactly where these movies were filmed, but it was so awesome to be standing on a corner, and then to see what that same corner looked like in the early/mid 1900s! Now if only he would invent a time machine so we could actually go to the fun houses and roller coasters on the Venice pier... In any event, I think everyone will like this tour...I couldn't recommend it more highly! Not only would it be a great activity for out of town guests, but also for LA natives who would like to learn more about the fascinating history of their own town.

A few weekends ago, I had the pleasure of taking Mojo Maps Expedition Co.'s interactive walking tour of Venice Beach. Two knowledgable and talented tour guides took us on an adventure through Venice Beach's historical landscape -- through Muscle Beach, the Dogtown skaters, and the Beat Poets, all the way back to the neighborhood's birth era of Abbot Kinney and his "Venice of America". I was impressed by founder Chris Eng's passion for Los Angeles and his desire to provide Angelenos with an immersive adventure and the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone, right in their own city. (LA's newcomers and tourists are welcome to join in the fun too, of course!) Chris and his crew are invested in creating an evocative, visceral experience for people that goes far beyond historical dates and events. During the Venice Land tour, we walked leisurely for about 2.5 hours as the tour guides regaled us with stories from every period in Venice Beach's history through comedy, music, and improvisation. Participants were constantly engaged through activities like spray painting (yay for public defacement!), sing-alongs, and an even impromptu "bathing beauty" pageant as a shout-out to Venice Beach of the Roaring 20s. It might be a tour more suitable for extroverts but this semi-introvert was thoroughly entertained. If you have kids, I would say the tour would be great for 10-year-olds and older. There's nothing overtly racy or inappropriate -- I just think the tour would be better appreciated by slightly older kiddos.

The tour immediately starts off with a song, dance and music which sets the tone for the rest of the day. Kristen and Kimberly were great! They are true performers. Their quirky voices and superb acting combined with a live harmonica player, quickly transforms you back to historic 1920's Venice. As we walked through out the various parts of Venice (canals, muscle beach, and boardwalk) the tour guides pointed out murals, statues, and hidden artifacts that I've seen a dozen times but never gave much thought to, but now know the entire history behind each item. What really set this tour apart from other walking tours I've done before are the group improv games played to bring to life some of the history. Normally I'm a pretty shy person but Kristen did a great job encouraging everyone to participate where there are no right answers! From performing our own impromptu 1920 Beauty Contest to becoming Arnold Schwarzenegger's product development team.... I don't think I have ever laughed so much! This was a great experience and I would highly recommend the tour to anyone looking for a fun afternoon in Venice!
