Surf Club Apartments Marcoola are in such a great location. Amazing spot to getaway and relax for a weekend away. However, when it comes to the interior detail and upkeep of this property...I must say it was a huge let down. I was extremely disappointed to see this place the way I did. First of all it was extremely dusty and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. There was someone else's hair on the bathroom towels and comforter, so we had to wash everything before being able to use it, (which we should've been paid to clean the place is what it felt like). We were given "things to get us started", such as coffee packets, tea, boxed milk, HALF a roll of toilet paper (for two females), one face wash cloth, one hand towel, which isn't hygienic-even if it was me and my partner staying, I would want my own face wash cloth for us each, which I don't think that's too much to ask for.
My mother and I stayed in Apt 15, the "penthouse" apartment. We had a rooftop Jacuzzi, which was amazing- had we had some towels to use to dry ourselves when we got out! We were given 2 bath towels in the apartment, which I don't know about other people, but I don't like to use the same towel that I'm using to dry myself off with after a shower, outside after getting out of the Jacuzzi. I rang Sue, at the reception area, and asked if they had any beach towels. She said I could hire beach towels for $5 each. I asked her how come I wasn't notified about this in the e-mail I received because I would've brought my own beach towel had I known. If you're going to have a Jacuzzi, it only makes sense to either let me know to bring my own towel before hand or provide beach towels for the Jacuzzi/beach! I asked her if she could just lend us some and she was very unpleasant and again said no, that we could hire them for $5.
The lounge chairs that were on the rooftop by the Jacuzzi, were a safety hazard in themselves. The hinges were corroded and rusted/broken off. My mum laid down in it and BOOM slammed back down since it was broken!! Thankfully she didn't break her arm or hurt her back!! This was so unsafe!!!
Not only did we only have half a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, we had no body wash, shampoo or conditioner provided for us. We had 1 bar of soap at the sink for us for our 2 night stay. Again, that's fine- had I known. You have to let people know to bring their own stuff because when you're advertised as a hotel, one would expect to be able to get toilet paper, and body wash at least for the weekend!
As I mentioned earlier, we had to wash everything before using it... when we removed all of the sheets, there were disgusting stains on the pillows, the actual pillows were town up and just gross. I honestly felt so dirty when I left this place and couldn't wait to get home and shower.
The balcony in the bedroom screen door was broken. The hinges were so corroded that it was pretty much just sitting in the correct spot, but when we went to open it, it just completely fell right off. Again, another safety compliance issue.
There was a locked garage that came with this apartment, which was nice.
I honestly wouldn't stay here again for the price. We paid $500 for 2 nights. For how dirty and unsafe this place was, I would've felt better paying $250 for both nights, because it is such a great location and we loved the views from the rooftop. But unfortunately, I don't think we'll be coming back to stay here again. read more
