I love the expansive vibe as you enter and the sense that you are in a space that is not just a gym equivalent or a snob fest or a bunch of awkward bits of cultural appropriation woven into new age mindfulness cult. It's a place of joyful study, and community connection. Everyone I've interacted with who works there has the same vibe - helpful but not too serious. Real smiles and laughter in a quiet respectful way. I dig it. I've been trying out a class that happens in a pretty small room and it can definitely get crowded and warm, and I bet it's kind of nuts in there in the summer. But I like the spacious area for coats and changing cabins and bathrooms, and I appreciate all the clean and good quality gear they have for you to use, from mats to blocks, straps, pillows and cozy blankets. The teacher I've had is funny and thoughtful and really focused on each person finding their flow and connection to their bodies - the opposite of the weirdly competitive "i'm more bendy than you and more zen than you!!" vibe that I've seen manifest in other yoga scenes. Naada participates in local block parties and other community events in their neighbourhood and runs all kinds of creative classes tying yoga to voice and music. So this is a brand new yoga studio, barely even a week old, and so far so good!…read more It is the second location of the well established Wanderlust yoga studio in mile end, and it's always nice to see a place doing so well that they can open a second location. The studio, located in an industrial style building near Notre Dame street, exemplifies what one has generally come to expect of yoga studios: lovely open loft style spaces with hardwood floors, visible brick walls and "zen" minimalist decor. They have two large practice rooms (one slightly larger than the other) with plenty of space and props to acompte large classes both with high ceilings and large, bright windows. They have three change rooms (hommes, femmes, and mixte) complete with showers, blow dryers and toilets. I personally explored the ladies change a room and it was ENORMOUS! They also have lovely lounge area with complementary tea and chocolates and a beverage fridge where you can buy fancy yoga beverages, like kombucha and coconut water (both of which I find abhorrant, but, other yoga types seem to like them). The staff so far have been very friendly and welcoming. They offer classes in both English and French and they have a super priced intro trial package of $35 for one month of yoga. Unfortunately, after the trial month, the prices creep back up to more standard priced yoga membership rates, but they do have $5 community classes every weekday morning at 8:30am and offer a work-trade program (3h/week gets you free unlimited yoga). My favorite feature of this studio is just how many classes they consistently offer. Want to go to yoga at 7am every weekday? You can do that! Every day at 4, you can do that too. Missed your 7am class? Don't worry, there's another class at 8:30. My only criticisms are that I find the rooms a bit warm, so I get pretty sweaty (which isn't great if you have to go somewhere directly after without the time to shower), and that the style they teach is very consistant and repetitive from one instructor to the other, which, for some people can actually be a plus. I was formerly taking yoga at the university gym and I found I really appreciated the broad variety of yoga styles that where taught by the different instructors that really gave us the chance to explore what yoga has to offer as a whole.

I took the Rise flow class with Madeline and it was everything I needed for a mid-vacation reset. From the moment I walked into the studio to inquire about class styles and schedule, I felt welcomed. Everyone is friendly and warm and in a genuine way. The studio is clean, light and bright with beautiful hardwood flooring and full length windows on the side of the room that the students face. The window sill is filled with plants the length of the windows as well. My teacher was Madeline and she was lovely. After welcoming me to class and giving me and several others a brief mint-infused lotion neck massage, she led us through a thoughtful and balanced morning flow that touched upon all the things I needed - self-reflection, guided breath cues, slow deliberate movement. If you want to take more than 1-2 classes, it's probably a better deal to do the class pass! We were just visiting for 10 days but only staying in the neighborhood for 3 days. We started off our vacation right and took two classes (one Saturday and one Sunday)! I was able to email them when I got home to donate the 5th class. Just a heads up that you have to contact them to cancel your membership - it auto renews! They had $2 mat rentals, these B MATs and they felt really good! I am now considering buying one lol. Classes were in English - one mixed a little French in but usually after doing one side in English, so as an English-speaker I was never lost! We loved this cute Old Montreal area and finding our little home studio away from home! We felt amazing after classes - highly recommend if you have the time and visiting, so you can stretch out the plane/travel kinks!

If you are looking for a more "classic" Yoga kind of style, Sivananda Yoga is the place to be…read more Probably the oldest Yoga place in Montreal, you can either "jump" in a class or register for a number of classes. Which is very cool, especially if you have a busy urban schedule! Each class, you have a different teacher. So if you don't like the teaching style of someone, you are not stuck with him/her for the next 10 lessons. It last about an hour and a half. The first 30 mintures are usually some small yoga-related exercices such as breathing and relaxation. Then, you go on practicing. And, during the last 15 minutes, you have the relaxation part. You can bring your own Yoga mat, or they will offer one to you if you don't have one. In the room that I was, there also was a small shrine which included images of important leaders of most of the different religions of the world. Which I thought was very respectful considering that everyone has different beliefs. A very nice place to practice Yoga. It's about 10 minutes a walk from Metro Laurier, and well worth it!

The space was pretty laid back, no real glitz or glam like you find in the US, which is completely fine!
