We came here starving from a long six hour drive from Italy around 4 pm because most of the restaurants were closed. I got the salad and added sun-dried tomatoes and olives. Other people got the toasted bread with cream cheese and olives, the pasta salad, and the tomato soup. I would have to say I was unimpressed with the salad. For a healthy/vegan centered restaurant, the portion size wasn't particularly filling and had I not added the tomatoes and olives, it would have been basically just greens. Also, everything was sooooo salty and this is coming from a girl who normally eats salad with her salt if you know what I mean. The rest of the party was also unimpressed with the severely crunchy, almost impossible to bite into bread and cream cheese. I don't know, it just didn't really work. Three stars because it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't a place I'd take a carnivorous friend that I was trying to impress with delicious and nutritious vegan/vegetarian food. I read their "Spring Specials" Board and saw the Karotten Suppe and decided to sit for a spell and enjoy a bowl of one of my favorite soups. As the name suggests, Zoup - they sorta specialize in soups I suppose, (as well as other things I'm sure) with seasonal offerings/variations. I initially wanted carrot and ginger but I opted for the carrot-mango-orange variant. What's cool is that they offered to add some fresh ginger in as well. Win! Win!! In addition to my soup, I also ordered a Panache which is just a beer with a lime soda topper that's pretty refreshing. The staff was very courteous and helpful as well as linguistically patient with me as we both tried to communicate with one another. The ambiance is traditional Cafe European with a nice airy seating area to people watch without feeling like people are on top of you. So, if you are in Zurich and a soup person then this is the place for you.

After perusing their website, it would seem that NG is a part of the 'locavore' movement, using, when possible, locally sourced ingredients. Also nice, the service is friendly and prompt. One of the most interesting things about NG would be that they have three restos in ZH and one in Brazil! Por que? I aim to find out on my next trip to Not Guilty. Note: the soup sizes don't read 'small' and 'large' on the menu board. I forget what the cutesy language is...something like 'good day' for a small soup and for a larger soup it's something equally silly. Don't be discouraged as I was for a fraction of a second when trying to absorb the menu. There are only two sizes: good and gooder. ;)
