Susanne Spatt makes exquisite traditional Austrian clothing (dirndls, capes, tailored shirts, fur trimmed gloves, etc.) for women and children in elegant fabrics, colors and tailoring. The prices are high but doubtless they are commensurate with the quality. The shop itself is a joy and beautifully decorated. (Sadly, I don't think I would ever wear a dirndl in my hometown of Houston, Texas but if I could, I would buy it from Susanne Spatt.) The staff are polite but distant, probably reserving their energy for the Salzburgian aristocracy. This store is located on Alter Markt, the site of the weekly Saturday morning market. Ms Spatt's husband runs a gift shop about 5 minutes away on Residenzplatz which sells Austrian made small pouches, scarves and porcelain items, all of very high quality and great for gifts.
