Guessing this place has been around for a while. Staff are friendly and helpful. I had the All Day Special (3 items with soup and salad). Salad and miso were pretty standard stuff. Chicken teriyaki - nice and crisp. Served on rice. Chopped scallop roll - rolls are on the smaller end, but quality was decent. Salmon sashimi - fish was fresh. Can't complain. Decent value for the price for this part of town. I'd come back at some point. read more

What a great little sushi joint! Usually when a place gets consistently rave reviews, the cynic in me wonders, can this place really be as good as all the hype? It sets the bar so high, I feel I'm bound to be disappointed when I try it out personally. I'm happy to say, that was not the case here. This sushi place was as good as everyone reported in all their reviews. My friend and I met here for lunch today. Sure, there's metered parking on the street here on Cambie, but if you drive around, there are ample free 2-hour parking areas on the side streets. The restaurant itself is located right beside the Cambie Village Starbucks. The interior is small but clean and super cute, with Asian parasols lining the ceiling on one side, and Chinese lanterns, and ample booths. Nothing fancy, but casual and cute. Our server was as nice as could be. Very personable. We were super impressed by the menu. It was quite extensive, with an excellent lunch special section: your choice of two dishes (HUGE selection), with miso soup and salad, for $11.95. We shared 3 types of sushi (all were delicious and SUPER fresh, and the rice was delightfully seasoned and delicate, unlike most places where the rice is sticky, cold and hard and bland), and one veg tempura (SO good, it was like candy). Usually I don't eat the small side salads or soups that come with these meals as they fill me up and usually aren't that great, but I was really surprised how good the salad was here. The lettuce was crisp, and they had some sort of magical ponzu dressing on it, with a liberal smattering of masago on top. And the miso soup was really tasty, too. Every dish we had was excellent. And the portions were quite healthy; I ended up bringing some of the sushi home. Oh, and bonus, they offer free delivery on orders over $30, within a 3 km radius. Nice! Saw Becky M's review and decided to try Sushi7 after chatting with her on it. Sushi7 is only doing take out during COVID which is understandable as it has a very small indoor dining area. Sushi7 is located on Cambie and there is plenty of metered parking and also free 2 hr parking a few blocks away. Checked out the menu on line and we ordered the Roll Combo (California roll, tuna and salmon roll & dynamite roll) Veggie Combo A (yam roll, kappa roll, avocado roll) and the Tuna and Salmon Combo (tuna roll, salmon roll, 2 tuna and 2 salmon nigiri). At $40 it was good value and tasty sushi and plenty of it. I liked that the rolls did not have an excessive amount of rice in them. It was a positive sushi experience and happy to recommend Sushi7 if looking for a sushi establishment in the Cambie area. read more

One line review: Would give this 3.5 if that were an option. We ordered two of the dinner combo special. My wife had vegetable tempura, yam roll, and beef roll. I had salmon nigiri, spicy tuna roll, and vegetable tempura. Both meals came with salad and soup. Everything was tasty and well-executed. The big selling points here are the variety (you choose three items from a long list of options) and portion (I had enough left over to eat for lunch the next day). We also took a flier on the bacon wrapped scallop skewers. The scallops were minuscule; this was like eating rolls of bacon. Wouldn't order this again. Pricing was reasonable, and with the portions, this is good value. Service was friendly and competent. Parking was free in the neighborhood. In this COVID season, they were not serving in the dining room. We tried to sit at a bench outside the restaurant, but it was quite cool in the evening, and we ended up taking it home. Perfectly decent sushi like so many other sushi joints in Vancouver, with plenty of vegetarian/vegan options. We did an online order on Sunday around noon when they opened. We ordered five rolls and couple pieces of Nigiri between the two of us. The order was ready for pick-up 20 minutes later. We got: -Avocado mango roll (8 pcs; $6.50). Totally acceptable, with fresh avocado and mango. Nothing special, but it works. 3/5 -Avocado roll (8 pcs; $5.95). Ditto the regular avocado roll. Nothing wrong with it. 3/5 -Veggie roll (5 pcs) X 2 ($6.50 each). This was a pretty lame vegetable roll, dominated by avocado, with a bit of radish, carrot, and lettuce. One of the weaker vegetable rolls in town. 2/5 -Goma ae roll (8 pcs; $5.95). Plenty of wilted spinach, drizzled in a nice sesame sauce. This was good and my favourite of the rolls. 3.5/5 -Inari roll x 2 ($1.95 each). Bog-standard Inari Nigiri. This has been my go to take-out sushi place for a little while now. They have an "all day special" that's roughly $20 and it includes a ton of food. Can't speak for the service, as I've actually never attended this restaurant in person, but I can say that they were very accommodating of my peanut allergy. When I called to ask about my allergy, they said that they don't use peanuts in the kitchen which is great for me to hear. It was another sushi meal today. A busy work day, so sushi at a reasonable price is a good find. I ordered the tasty combo for 12.95. It comes with half a prawn roll, 1/2 a California roll, half tuna and half salmon, plus a volcano roll which was my favorite. The volcano roll is deep fried and is tasty. Of course, ordering through a food service delivery, such as Uber Eats, I had to pay a service fee as well as a delivery fee. Still worth it if you're too busy to get out and pick it up yourself. I would just recommend that they have fresher wasabi. It was a bit too firm, so I used some leftover fresh wasabi I had at home. I walked in with medium to low expectations. There were a few food delivery guys waiting so you know it's not too bad. Service is friendly vibe is casual. We got items from the all day specials. In general it's a hit or miss. Hit The salmon sashimi and chopped scallop roll are both surprisingly quite fresh and yummy. Love the salmon toro nigiri, fatty in big chunks. Avocado tempura is great, avocado used is just riped Miss Agedashi tofu is below average, tasteless. I don't like the tuna toro, tastes just like regular tuna, I expected more for $2.5/piece toro. Tofu/beef teriyaki on rice, lot of rice, good for hungry tummies. I suggest steer clear from these unless youj enjoy food drenched with teriyaki sauce. Okay Mushroom tempura uses white button mushroom it's interesting and quite good. Veggie tempura is pretty good as well. Salmon tempura roll, generous portion, taste is lacking. 3.5 stars One of our coworkers highly recommended this sushi restaurant to us, so we gave it a try this afternoon. We came here for lunch and the restaurant was not too busy. This Japanese restaurant has been running on Cambie Street for a while as far as I know, so the interior design looks a bit older. The owner did put an effort on decorating the restaurant in a Japanese style. We looked at the menu and ordered their lunch special - choose any 2 items at $8.95 with miso soup and salad. It was a pretty good deal. I chose chicken karaage and chopped scallop roll (8 pieces) and my coworker chose vegetable tempura and spicy salmon roll (8 pieces). Both of us shared the dishes, so we could try different flavours of the food. The miso soup and salad were okay. Among the above 4 choices, chicken karaage was the best. The meat was tendered and juicy inside and crispy outside. The vegetable tempura was a bit over cooked (or deep fried). The edge of some of the vegetables turned brownish; and I personally felt that the oil was not fresh to fry the vegetable tempura. Both the spicy salmon roll and chopped scallop roll tasted average. Not "wow"or not "meh". There is free street parking right or meter parking on Cambie Street. The customer service was okay. We were looking at the chefs in the kitchen or servers/owners of the restaurant. It seems that they are Chinese or another ethnicity, but they are not Japanese for sure. If you are looking for a good deal on Japanese food or sushi or if your 'eating' standard is not high, this restaurant is a good option. We have frequented Sushi 7 as a take-out patron for awhile now. The rolls are decent but we find the staff as the weak point in our experience. I noticed, finally, that they automatically add a tip to my order which I failed to notice in all my previous orders and therefore added an additional tip all this time. Part of this is my bad but my experience last night with the counter staff made it obvious that they are consciously deceiving its patrons. When I asked to see the receipt before paying the staff refused to give it too me. When I finally received the total it was handwritten and didn't have the word 'tip' anywhere on the bill. Once he got it back he threw it out. I had to firmly insist that I wanted to keep the receipt. It was a very frustrating experience and one I will not repeat again since they have now lost my business. read more

SUSHI 7 is usually one of my favorite places however I was disappointed with my last interaction with them. Because I did not specify which special I wanted I was charged 3 extra dollars for an extra piece of inaria. I am a regular customer and their lack of customer service to make things right and insure that customers leave happy is disappointing. I can take my business somewhere else where I feel I am a valued customer. Trying to make a little extra money is not smart if one is potentially going to loose a regular customer. If there are two specials and one is 3 dollars cheaper wouldn't it be good to double check and assume the customer wants the cheaper one to avoid this mishaps? I was not aware that there were 2 different 3 items specials. No apology on their behalf as the finger was pointed back at me. Leave the customer happy and they will come back for more... Leave the customer feeling wronged and unhappy and the customer can take their business elsewhere. read more

This is my family's go to sushi restaurant, we order from them every 1-2 weeks. It is tasty, fast, and affordable. They do free delivery unker 5km, over $25 and usually pretty quick! I feel very misled by all of these positive reviews because my boyfriend and I came to the conclusion that this is, without a doubt, the worst sushi we have ever had. (That's including pre-made, days-old grocery store sushi, and the sketchy stuff that rolls around on conveyor belts.) We ordered five different sushi rolls and gyoza. Only one sushi roll - the Red Dragon - was decent enough to finish eating, but that's not saying much. All of the sushi was warm, mushy, and falling apart before it was even touched. The rice was overcooked and the fish was old and tasteless. My boyfriend suspects the tuna - which was tinged with grey - was actually chum. And I don't know how in the world you screw up gyoza (which is typically made beforehand and just fried before serving), but even those sad little dumplings were lukewarm, squishy, and bland. While I do wish I could give 0 stars because I have never experienced so much sushi regret in my life, I suppose the single lonely star is for the quick and efficient service, and good miso soup. read more

I was a loyal take out customer of Sushi 7 because I believe in supporting local neighborhood shops. Unfortunately, they disappointed me because of the manner in which they handled the situation. I ordered our go to items from their menu including the chicken teriyaki that my kids enjoy. When I cut the chicken for them, I noticed that the chicken wasn't fully cooked as you can see in the photos. I proceeded to call the restaurant to see if they could at least refund me the item or give me credit for the amount for that item, but when I called, the owner was reluctant to do so. Furthermore, she didn't believe me! She told me that in order to do anything about it, I had to go back to her restaurant with the receipt and raw food to prove to her that I wasn't lying. As I mentioned before, I've been a loyal customer for at least 2 years and had never had any issues or complaints. I told her that I didn't have the food anymore because I ended up fully cooking it because my kids were hungry, but that I had photos. I offered to send the photos to her but she refused that and insisted that I go back to the restaurant with the receipt and raw chicken. I ordered the Chirashi Don, which is a little more expensive than most places I've been too. But I'm blown away by how fresh and tasty their sashimi is. Portion sizing is fantastic and worth the price in the end. My container was pretty much filled with fish and rice to the rim! The salmon and tuna were also cut very thick which I love since plenty of restaurants tend to cut them thinner. They also included a free miso soup with my order as well! While shopping at Choices markets, got hungry. Yelped and I found this place. Went in for take out. 10% off for pick up. Their menu has lots to choose from. I got the spicy girl roll And house 7 roll. Both quite good and I thought the rolls were made quite well. The fish and rice ratio was perfect. I will definitely come back. The prices are reasonable and even though they don't serve real crab meat here they do have sockeye salmon. And if u please also brown rice. It not a huge place but it's quaint and quiet. Japanese restaurants are very plentiful in Vancouver and it takes quite a lot to stand out in the crowd. That is why I find that being thorough in reviews is a must when it comes to picking out the ones worth visiting and giving your service to. I came here with one other during lunch time in the middle of the week and it was nice and quiet. The prices were decent and the portions were generous. We always order the takoyaki as a test for each Japanese restaurant we dine in and while we have had much better, Sushi 7 takoyaki is not bad considering it is cheaper than most. We ordered the Awesome Roll and the Viva Roll and were pleased by the rice and fish ratio. We also tried the beef teriyaki and chicken karaage. The teriyaki was nothing too special and I will probably not order it again. The chicken could have been better if it was not given to us with no sauce or anything to help alleviate the fact that it is extremely dry. We might not go out of our way to go back here or bring guests we want to impress here but it is a nice place to grab a decent roll. read more

Among all the sushi joints in Vancouver Cambie area this location had been my absolute favourite spot for the following reasons: - cozy and clean dining area - very reasonable price with a excellent variety of specialty rolls - warm and fast service - always fresh sashimi (full disclaimer: I'm a huge fan of sashimi and this joint had served me nothing but super fresh fishes and I've been coming here for a year now) Some dishes that I would recommend: - for the adventurous people, you must try their saba aburi nigiri; it's a saba nigiri (mackerel sushi, basically) that they finish with a light sear on the fish. The heat activate the fat under the fish skin and is an harmonious experience - for deep fry lover you must try their Awesome Roll and Avocado tempura; their deep fried calamari is also a perfect pairing with a bottle of Asahi beer. - for the economical diners I recommend their Tonkatsu; it's a breaded, deep fried pork cutlet with all the fixing and is under 10 bucks. - for salmon lover you have to order their BC Roll, with perfectly grilled salmon skin, tangy and sweet bbq sauce, and just enough salmon meat attached to the skin. This is by far the best BC roll I've had. Well, is it the best sushi I've had? No. But in this area it is definitely the best quality vs price. Unless you like waiting 70+ minutes for delivery (the restaurant is a 7 minute drive from my house) do not order delivery from here. The food was decent the last time I ordered it, prices are alright but when I called to check on the status of my order after 45 minutes, I was dismissed very quickly by an employee who said that it was on its way and would be delivered within 10 to 15 minutes. I got the feeling that the order had not even been sent out for delivery and I think I was right. We're going on 20 minutes since that phone call and 70 minutes since we first places the order. I'll update this review if the food ever arrives. Edit: at the 30 minute mark I called again and the fellow on the phone said he would call the driver. I gave him my address.. he yelled out loud to someone at the restaurant and then said he had called the driver and that the food should be there 'any minute'. At no time did he say the name of the street I live on so I am not sure why they keep lying to me. I ended up just cancelling my order with Just-Eat.ca because of this. I had ordered from here a few times in the past but would pick up the food. I will not be ordering from them in the future. read more
