I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile, so we finally came in tonight. We were greeted immediately, and shown to a lovely booth. The decor was delightful. We were given water and menus immediately. I ordered some plum soju and my partner ordered a glass of Chardonnay. Both lovely. I went with beef bibimbap (which came with miso soup) and an adorable, delicious caterpillar roll. My partner ordered an Alaska roll and beef bulgogi (which came with ban chan). I went with the intention to get some Sushi to go and ended up ordering the Tempura Shrimp Dinner. Comes with steamed veggies, rice miso soup and salad. Great deal for $17. This is the second time hubby and I went here. From the outside it does not look like much. However, the food and service is outstanding. We went for lunch this time. I had the sushi combo where you can get two kinds of sushi from a list. I had the salmon and spicy tuna. Both were delicious . The side salad that comes with it was really really good. The lettuce was cold and crisp, and the shredded carrots were a nice play on texture with the crisp lettuce. The salad dressing was homemade, and there were a plethora of ingredients in it. Hubby had a regular roll, I believe it was either a spider or crab roll with eel sauce. He really enjoyed it. Included with you meal at the end is freshly sliced pineapple. I will say, going at night on a quiet Thursday, I was skeptical going in. The building was dark at the corner, and I didn't realize there was a bigger parking lot with more light if I drove a little further away from the intersection. Anyways, I think our party was the only one in the restaurant, so intentionally, I didn't have high hopes. As we sat down, we were greeted with friendly smiles. And we were able to order quickly. The sushi was fresh. The sea urchin was fresh but it is expected. Since it was my birthday, I went ahead and enjoyed it. I had a spider roll, again, very tasty and fresh. My guest does not care for sushi, but he took me out for dinner. He had pork fried rice and his only complaint was that the pork was fatty. I had warm Sakai. It was not that great. I would not order that again. It's the house saki, I didn't look to see if they have other, more costly kinds of saki. The restaurant is the same kind of ambience that most Japanese places have. Compared to other restaurants of various kinds, this one is very quiet. Makes a change from other places. I look forward to going back for sea urchin. Five stars for a reason!! Wow so fantastic. We ordered A LOT to make sure we tried it all. Nothing missed the mark. We got mostly Korean, but also a sushi sampler. It was all good. We loved the kimchi stew with pork and tofu the most. But the bibimbap was also quite good. the chicken fried rice was a kid choice, but then I ate it. My boyfriend and I got the TNT roll, St Louis Roll, crab nigiri, salmon nigiri, smoked salmon nigiri, salmon skin hand roll, and grilled squid. The fish and presentation was amazing (real crab!), and the staff was attentive. It was our first time trying squid, and we found out the flavor profile wasn't our favorite. The owner came by our table and first made sure nothing was wrong with the dish. We tried to tell him there was nothing wrong but we just didn't like it. He was determined to satisfy and had the kitchen sauté the squid with vegetables and a spicy sauce to take home with us, which we enjoyed very much. The inside of the restaurant itself is warm and inviting (don't be discouraged by the exterior!). We can't recommend this place enough - definitely give it a try. I am specifically addressing the sushi menu - the rest of their menu is good, from what I've sampled. My wife and I went there tonight, and I've had better sushi from a grocery store. Every piece of nigiri tasted absolutely flavorless. It had obviously all been frozen before and that shouldn't happen. It was bland and cold. On top of this, the kani (most expensive sushi item) was very clearly a single piece, that had been sliced in half to make two pieces of crab, each no thicker than a McDonalds french fry. I absolutely adore this place. It's quaint. Real crab California rolls, remind me of San Diego. It makes the difference. They offer a great selection on sushi for the price. I like the taste of the vinegared rice. You receive two pieces of sushi per order of nigiri. All the sushi tasted great. Tonight my taste buds enjoyed the yellowtail and white tuna the most. The smokiness of the salmon was very tasty. My eyes were bigger than my stomach so I took 3 pieces home. The waitress brought my check and the pineapple dish. Even though I was stuffed I had to try it again and again and again until it was all gone. It was sweet and light and a great way to end the meal. Great job! I went on a Tuesday for lunch. I was greeted and seated quickly, handed a menu and served water by a courteous wait staff member. I ordered Bi Bim Bap which came with Miso soup. The food was very good and the portion was more than enough. When I thought the meal had ended a nice gentlemen who I would guess to be the owner and perhaps chef brought me pineapple that was served in the husk, cut in the shape of a fish. It was a really nice touch. The interior an exterior of the restaurant provide an amazing contrast and willhave you recalling the saying to not judge a book by the cover. We ordered the beef bulgogi bento box which came with ginger salad and miso soup, the Kimchee-Jjigae, a shrimp tempura roll, a salmon skin roll, and mackerel nigiri. Every single thing was delicious, fresh, and flavorful. The prices were reasonable and the portions were very generous, even with the reduced lunch prices we had enough to take home. This is my new favorite restaurant and I could not recommend it more highly. I really recommend going for lunch because they have excellent specials and it's a very good value. read more

Wanted to try this new place in Fenton; was a little worried - outside in front looks kind of abandoned and unkempt, but enter from rear and inside is very nice! Food was very good and service was great. Reasonable prices . We enjoyed it very much. My kids were vegetarian and they had many choices. Want to try lunch specials sometime soon. They are closed now for a few days for vacation I think, so we caught them just in time. I hope they are successful as that location and section of town ( olde town Fenton) has had a few iterations that just don't make it - not sure why -- I like having some choices that are not the big chain restaurants. I hope the owners do something with the street view so people don't get put off by the exterior. The patio could be very nice on our upcoming cooler days this fall. read more
