The sushi is generally always fresh, but sometimes can be on the conveyor for a while so it might not be 100% fresh. It can easily be a pricy trip if you opt for the more premium dishes. As everyone will have mentioned, you place your table order on an iPad, but of course you can take from the train. My friend refer me to this restaurant as they do 3 dollars per plate at lunch time. Yes, 12-2:30. Walked in, pretty busy, but somehow non of the waitress was smiling. I said one person, and she kinda directed me in then walked away. I was standing there not sure where she wants me to sit. I have to find someone again to find a seat. No smile still. I sat on a two people table with iPad ordering system. Guess what waitress, I never been here and I don't know how to use your iPad ordering. Omg, I was very annoyed by their services. Finally got a girl to show me, and she did it without saying one word to me. Wth. Anyway, I made my order, then I just wait. No one offer me a drink or anything. I need to call a girl for glass of water. Soon, my food is here. Same, they just dump the plates in front of you and left. Seriously, their services is so terrible. Now, let talk about food now. 2/5 dishes were horrible and it was the first time, I didn't finish my sushi. It's cheap at lunch time, but it doesn't mean you can lower your quality. As an avid lover of Sushi Train I could not wait to try Genki, and it didn't disappoint. Not only can you grab fresh sushi straight off the train as it goes around but you can order off an iPad. At every station and booth there is an iPad with the full food and drinks menu available to be delivered to you at the touch of a button. The service is unbelievably quick and if you have an issues you can push a button on the iPad and a person will immediately come over and assist. The sushi is fabulously fresh and slightly cheaper than franchise Sushi Train although the servings per plate are also smaller. I can't highly recommend this place enough! The only slight issue I have is that they don't offer split bills. Apart from that you need to walk, run, or roll to Genki right now. read more

Not what I expected, I am so disappointed and still yet to find a decent Japanese in Adelaide. The food was below average and I actually feel like I have thrown away money. The avocado roll they brought to my son was disgraceful. It was hard and rubbery like it probably sat there all day. How do you serve that to a toddler? Looking for somewhere quick to eat before going to a concert, thought a sushi train would be perfect. We are vegan and usually sushi is easy - not here! The veggo food coming round was covered in mayo, and what we ordered from the electronic menu took ages to come and even though no mayo in the description it had mayo - they seem to really just cover everything on the menu in the stuff! (To hide the taste?) it wasn't terrible food, but the lotus root chips were not fresh, so they were a bit chewy, they had run out of one of the other things were did try to order - but most annoying of all was that they took ages to make our food! About 15 mins, which is pretty crazy since the place was not packed. On one hand though we didn't actually ASK them to make the dishes without mayo, but then it really should state ingredients on the menu. A plus side is the place is much quieter than sushi train (up the road) so if you have no diet restrictions and have all night then you might like this place :-) read more

Finally convinced my picky boyfriend to let me pick a place to go to dinner. Much to his displeasure I chose sushi. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we walked out, the staff were lovely. You order off iPads and it turns up quicker then you can find something else you want to order. I ordered a bunch of smaller things , because I wanted to try a lot. My boyfriend ordered the noodles and a couple extra things. He said it was the best noodle beef soup he's ever had and wouldn't stop raving about all the fantastic food all the way home and then continued to tell our house mate how great it was. He even had a chat to the chef while he was cooking right in front of us. I was also very impressed. It tasted fresh and wonderful. 100% would go back for the food and the service. I usually eat from here all the time. I received my deluxe sushi pack (which includes chicken, California, salmon and tuna roll) hot. In my opinion it is inedible. I contacted the restaurant they said it was not there fault and mentioned they do not keep theres orders in the fridge or check what condition they send there orders out as it's again not there fault. I received no refund or apology and had to find dinner elsewhere. I won't be going here again unfortunately and it left me out of pocket. read more
