She was always smiling and had great recommendations!!! The sushi was fresh. The sake was smooth. We had alot, but our favorite was hamachi and the lemon roll!!! We will be back very soon. Very accommodating, friendly, quick service and high quality fish. Our table kept commenting on how aesthetic and relaxing this place felt. Dim lighting (perfect for date night), jazz music, and intimate seating.

Great 13-course omakase experience for $80! Highly recommend sitting at the bar. There's something satisfying about watching the chefs carefully craft each piece like edible art. Service was smooth, polished, and quietly attentive. Now for the stars: The golden snapper with yuzu zest and sea salt was easily one of the most memorable bites - bright, delicate, and perfectly balanced. The seared albacore surprised me too. I usually find raw albacore a bit rough or grainy, but this seared version was unbelievably tender and melt-in-your-mouth good. Other highlights include the ikura (little pops of joy) and the shima aji. This spot is perfect for a cozy date, an intimate celebration, or a solo self-treat. Don't forget to make a reservation!

I'm constantly on the hunt for the omakases that are the best value in LA, and this is one of them! I saw a video on Tiktok about this place and was intrigued because I'd never heard of Tetsuya and they were offering an omakase for only $80 per person. The place is located in a small unassuming strip mall, but we had no problem finding parking in the lot and the inside was surprisingly nicely lit, beautiful, and clean. We opted to sit at the sushi bar for the full experience. For $80 the fish was fresh, presented well with no overly complicated flavors or garnishes needed. The service from both the sushi chefs and the server was great, and I left decently full. I particularly loved the hotate, or jumbo scallop, which was tender and sweet. I don't come to the Studio City area often but if I ever do I will have an excuse to come back!

You won't know until you try. It's a no for me. One stop shop. Nothing blew me away. Ambiance was a bit overwhelming. I didn't finish a couple of pieces if that speaks to anything. The rice needed love. Everyone is lovely, but service doesn't leave a mark.

Date night at Sushi Bar Testsuya was rather chill, quite satisfying and pleasantly intimate. I highly recommend their Seared Salmon Nigiri, Spicy Salmon Crispy Rice, Creamy Spicy Shrimp Tempura, and Salmon Lemon Roll. Great place to share dishes. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portions. Service is polite, efficient and present - all greatly appreciated. Bring your date, a few friends, or else dine by yourself at the bar. It's rather small inside and I didn't see any outside seating. We found street parking, but there's also a handful of spots in the strip mall space.

It's been over a year since my last review and I am happy to report that Sushi Bar Tetsuya has been thriving and growing rapidly in 2025 and beyond! We now have difficulty getting reservations on the same day and have to plan ahead :D For complete details and history on this wonderful restaurant please read my original review. Here, I will touch upon anything that is new or has improved. Parking 5 stars: Parking on the lot and also on the roof of the building. More parking on the street and this stretch of Ventura Blvd is not too crowded so finding street parking is possible in case the lot is full. Food 5 stars: I have already raved about their fresh ingredients, creative preparations and beautiful plating. They have added more rolls to the menu now which I'm sure is welcome by the San Fernando Valley sushi aficionados. While you cannot go wrong with anything on their menu, my favorites are the Spicy Mushroom Miso Soup, the Lemon Roll, the Crunchy Albacore roll, the Caterpillar Roll and the Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice. The Last Word 5 stars: Hands down, one of the best sushi establishments in Los Angeles. Highly recommended!

We finally visited Sushi Bar Tetsuya after hearing all the good things about it and I can confirm it lives up to the hype. I'd like to preface by saying we did not get the omakase course but the omakase costs $80 for a chef's choice carpaccio, miso soup, 9-10 pieces of sushi, and a handroll which is an INSANE deal by any standards for sushi of this quality. We ended up ordering a couple appetizers, the lemon roll, and several pieces of various sushi. The mushroom miso soup is a must try. I fear their mushroom miso soup has ruined all other miso soups for me. All of the other appetizers we ordered were good but the standout was the quality of the sushi. You could taste how fresh each piece of fish was and the sushi chefs expertly created each piece by hand in front of us at the bar. They were friendly and informative about the different kinds of fish and the servers were warm and attentive. We'd definitely return!

I discovered Sushi Bar Tetsuya through a TikTok video and man, am I glad I did! The venue is located on a strip mall on Ventura Blvd . The parking lot is small but ample street parking. My partner and I came here for a special dinner so opted for the $80 omakase. Yes, $80 for 12 items plus Miso. It was the best sushi I've eaten. The quality of seafood they served was excellent. They know what they are doing here. We were still a little hungry so we also ordered the yellow tail crispy rice and it was delicious. We ended with the fried tempura ice cream. The venue it self is intimate and cute. The decor is very chic. The service was fantastic. I plan on coming back and trying other items! I think I may have found my favorite sushi spot in the valley :)

Came for the omakase and had such a good time! The selection of fish was so fresh and tasty.. we were asked if we had any food allergies and if we liked uni.. UHM YES! Started with halibut sashimi , miso soup, and 10 courses of amazing fishes .. some I've never even heard of! But the quality and taste.. amazing! We finished off with a dragon roll and already look forward to coming back! $80 a person for the omakase and it was so worth it

Great omakase for a very reasonable price! The blue fin tuna was our favorite of everything we ate and probably the best tuna I've had (that is not chutoro or otoro) outside of Japan. Worth a visit for the tuna alone! The other standout was the upgraded miso soup. I ordered the spicy miso soup and it was definitely worth it. Very savory and rich - tasted almost like a ramen soup broth and it was significantly different from the regular miso soup served.

Sushi Bar Tetsuya has been on our list to try forever and finally went last night. Reservation process was super simple. Parking was free in the small lot and there was plenty of meter parking as well. Very nice upscale vibe inside. Bar was very spacious and you could spread out and not feel like your sushi plates were overwhelming you. Excellent spot for a date. Great drink options. Sake bottles were served very cold with an ice bucket. Started off with the spicy salmon crispy rice and it was delicious. Perfectly crispy. I love it when restaurants have more than just spicy tuna. Albacore and yellowtail were also available. All of the sushi was so fresh and seasoned perfectly. It's rare that I don't add tons of wasabi, but I honestly don't need it. Sushi is two pieces per order, except in a few certain specials. We had the salmon belly, albacore belly, scallop, barracuda special and my personal favorite, the wagyu. Had one cut roll, to the Forrest and you get so many pieces! All of the servers were really nice and attentive. We can't wait to come back!

One of the best sushi spots I've had a in a while actually. We didn't really do any appetizers and went straight in for the fish. Started off with a couple of hand rolls, we did the crab hand roll and O toro hand roll. Crab hand roll wasn't as impressive, I've had better to be honest. I didn't let that experience ruin it for me because the toro hand roll was delicious. I think they add a piece of mint and it complimented the hand roll. Very crunchy nori wrapper and good rice to fish ratio. For our sushi we started with chu toro tuna, salmon belly, and halibut. Super fresh melt in your mouth quality. Halibut was interesting with the truffle, first time definitely won't be the last. We ended it with red snapper and black snapper. Nice of the chef to switch out roe for halibut for me on my omakase. However, probably the worst omakase I've ever had. No creativity, nothing felt premium, chewy fish, flavors didn't mesh, and half of it was salty. The miso soup wasn't scorching, which i appreciated at first but that meant the last few sips were fairly room temp. The real crab handroll was good. If the price point was $35 sushi set I'd give 5/5 but this is supposed to be premium omakase. I've been to other Sushi Enya locations and had good experiences, so this was very disappointing. Stick to the rolls and nigiri.

Long story short, our dining experience felt rushed. We waited about 45 min- an hour for a table. Once we were seated, we were pushed to order right away. I had come here before but it was my husband's first time dining. He needed more time to decide and look over the menu. Well he didn't get much of a chance to look at what he wanted to eat because the server was standing there waiting. Literally staring. What would you like to order? I explained to her that it was his first time here and he needed time to look over the menu and asked her if she can come back later. She proceeded to say it will take longer to get our orders in and delay the kitchen staff. That didn't end there. Right after our food was served, one of the servers came by to ask if everything was ok and if we needed anything. We said no. Shortly after, the server dropped the bill at our desk. Mind you, we were not even close to finishing our meal. I understand there are other customers waiting for a table but you shouldn't be rushing the customers currently eating. They clearly prioritize turning tables faster to make profit. It was not a pleasant or enjoyable dining experience. I would choose another sushi spot.

I find that a lot of the criticism levied against Tokyo Haus expects a restaurant that caters to all types of customers. I find that restaurants are like works of art in that art that tries to appeal to everyone won't appeal to anyone. I think Tokyo Haus's excellence will always be found in the AYCE option. That's what makes it a great restaurant. Becoming a regular here has been a delight, especially after finding our favorite items and sections of the menu. The service was unremarkable at first, but with some geniality and consideration, the servers will open up to you and take care of you. Over the past year or so, we've come to appreciate Alex, who always makes sure our meals are delicious. The restaurant itself is temperate and not too loud with plenty of space between tables/booths. The music playing is not too loud and allows for conversation to flow. They upgraded their ordering system to a tablet-based system a while ago, which has greatly streamlined the ordering process. If you're looking for recommendations on what to order, I highly recommend trying one of the AYCE options and ordering the lemon pepper salmon nigiri (I order at least 50 pieces of it every time!). The eel, salmon, and tuna nigiri are also great choices. The cucumber salad is a new favorite side we found, alongside the brussel sprouts, edamame, and green beans.

I think the nigiri has great rice/fish proportions, and the takoyaki and green beans are my personal favorite appetizers. We love the lemon pepper salmon, very smokey and peppery, but also bright and zesty! Shoutout our host Alex, who made our night fantastic! A week ago we came in a large group celebrating a birthday, and Alex quickly got us seated and set up. It was the first time using the new tablet system for a few of us, but they were very accommodating to make sure things went smoothly. At the end they brought out dessert and helped us wish our friend a happy birthday. Alex was very friendly and brought amazing vibes to our dining experience, definitely made our celebration one to remember! If you're reading this tysm :)

I really enjoyed this sushi spot. Unlike many sushi restaurants that offer combo plates, omakase,…read moreor sushi specials, this place is entirely à la carte, so you build your meal piece by piece. While that can add up quickly, the quality made it worth it for me. Every sushi item we ordered was incredibly fresh and tasted great. The fish was clean, flavorful, and clearly high quality. Nothing felt like an afterthought, and I was happy with everything we tried. Another plus is that they validate 2 hour parking in the same plaza, which made the visit much more convenient. My only minor complaint is that the pace of service was extremely fast. The sushi came out so quickly that I felt a little rushed through the meal. It's certainly better than waiting forever for food, but I would have appreciated a bit more time to relax and enjoy each round before the next dishes arrived. Overall, the food was excellent and I'd gladly return. If you're looking for fresh, high-quality sushi and don't mind ordering everything à la carte, this place is definitely worth a visit.
