This place is a real hidden gem, which i started frequenting for lunch when I worked in the area. The service has always been great and attentive, and the prices are on par with most sushi restaurants in the area. Despite some of the negative reviews, I've always had an excellent meal and have never had a complaint. Dropped in for a quick sashimi/sushi combo plate about lunchtime last Thur. Noticed that service was flurried but definately fast in this noontime crowded small restaurant. Seemed to be a lot of takeout business which I consider a good sign, it's the same damn food and the more people who like it the more justified I am in going there. Soy sauce seemed to be a little tastier and the wasabi a little hotter than other local Bergen sushi places i've tried. As expected, raw fish was very fresh, room temparture (not cold) brings out the flavor and portion size was standard. Very comfortable seating, exceptionally clean but the latino guys, slicing tuna and rolling California rolls was a bit disarming. This will always be my go-to Japanese restaurant when back in the area as it is about two minutes from my families home and has yet to disappoint on top of the fact that they are they only Japanese Restaurant I have found to serve Green Tea Tempura which is AMAZING. I wanted to try this place since it has some glowing reviews and was suggested by a close friend. We went there for an early dinner. The problem is I go to another sushi place not too far away which set the bar way too high. Perhaps, I will try this place once more to see if it warrants better reviews. Had lunch here today ordered the Sashimi Box thirteen dollars was disappointed. The salad had a bunch of wet iceburg lettuce and one small slice of tomato. Thin slices of fish they were tasty but only 6 slices and one small shrimp. I have had better from Aoyama in Wyckoff. read more

This place had been my favorite local sushi restaurant until tonight. I have been a long-time regular customer of over 10 years and tonight's experience has completely sullied my opinion of Corcoro. My friend and I ordered over $50+ worth of food at around 8:00 pm (they close at 10pm) and there were plenty of empty tables since it was a weekday night. The entire time my friend and I were under the impression that we were being rushed but we couldn't quite confirm it. Then, At around 9:00 the waitress brought us our check and my friend promptly left her credit card. Instead of picking up the tab, the waitress hovered over me, without even asking if I was finished, and began abruptly placing my uneaten sushi into a to-go container (with my own chopsticks, mind you). She literally place each sushi piece by piece into the container like an impatient mother rushing her child, of which I am certainly not. Not acceptable behavior at all! I was completely astonished at this behavior and I do not intend to ever return. What a shame. read more

I am a fan of this place - I often go for take out, but I have dined in the restaurant once. It is one of the best sushi places I have eaten at since moving to the area. I do suggest that even for take out you go in and place your order because their specials are always amazing! The one time I did eat in it was very uncomfortable because it was so crowded, but the wait staff didn't let you feel that you were one of the many.
