Many of the underground restaurants in Crystal City have shut down, but I'm glad this one was able to relocate just a bit further away, it's been a mainstay for many years. The reasonably priced sushi rolls are a nice lunch option. I tried their bibimbap (pictured) for dinner, and it was excellent for the price. Enjoyed the miso soup that came with it also.

I had never been to this place, but I was hungry and it has mostly positive reviews. I came here for lunch. I'm a fan of the location and ambience. There's lots of natural light inside, it felt clean, and there's a good amount of seating if you want to dine in (although I imagine they do a lot of take out because there's so many office buildings around). Except for ordering, most things are self-serve: picking up your food when it's ready, getting silverware, sauces, etc. And everything is disposable and mostly plastic, which I did not like, certainly not for the price point. Before I delve into the food, I'll say that customer service was pretty mediocre. I wasn't greeted with a smile, I asked a few questions about the menu and while the person taking my order gave me answered, they seemed pretty disinterested and at times even had to ask probing questions to get more info. There were only two other people in the restaurant at the time, but I was made to feel like I was taking up too much time. Anyway, while I was eating, however, another employee (maybe the manager) asked me if I was doing okay, so that was nice. Now onto the food. I ordered a Teriyaki Chicken Bento and Tuna Avocado Roll. The roll was fine. The fish and avocado tasted fresh, but the rice was as cold and firm. It was likely made earlier in the day a refrigerated, which alters flavor and texture, but this was acceptable. As for the Bento, first the Teriyaki Chicken was terrible. The chicken and the sauce were under seasoned. It feels like they boiled a chicken breast, cubed it, and ladled on some watery teriyaki sauce. The miso soup was also watery, which was disappointing. The sides were honestly the best part: the pickled/ cooked green bean had nice flavor and were still crunchy, the marinated tofu was mild, but still had flavor, and the edamame was steamed well and lightly seasoned with salt. The California Roll was pretty good, it tasted fresher than the Tuna Avocado Roll. It comes with 4 pcs. The tempura shrimp (you get 2), felt previously frozen, like the ones you get in the frozen section of a grocery store. They were fine. What disappoints me most is that these price points are comparable to a full service restaurant. My entire meal was over $30. Between the poor customer service and mediocre food quality, I won't return and cannot recommend this place.

I love this spot! Definitely a hidden gem with some of the BEST sushi for unbelievable prices. The gentlemen that work here are extremely nice, I receive the same great service every visit. I have personally seen that lunch hours and evening rush hours are their business picks up and stop by when you can.

I absolutely love this quaint little spot. They're so sweet and the sushi is delicious. I stop here before work any chance I get. They usually have sushi to go if you don't have time to sit or they'll make your order swiftly. It only sits 3 people! 10/10 recommend coming here for a quiet lunch or food to go!

Love this hole in the wall, and the people there are so very nice, and accommodating. But even better is the quality of the sushi. I would often expect to pay more, especially in this area, for the quality that I received.

Sushi Garden is hidden away in the middle of an obscure mall. My friend and I had some difficulty finding it, but we were glad we found it. The staff is exceedingly nice, and the service is fast! But what really earns them a 5 star review is the value. You get A TON of sushi (ok well, not exactly 1 ton, but quite a bit)! My friend and I were overwhelmed by how much raw fish was in our orders. Rarely do I go to a sushi restaurant and have left over fish.

Updated from 4 now to 5 because the sushi has gotten better each time. Can't fault it. Excellent quality and price.

Tuna Lover (I ate a piece already!)
    Betty H.

Picked up Tuna Lover combo. Had a little difficulty finding the place but that's because I'm not familiar with the Crystal Shops set up. I called and he was very friendly in giving me directions. Food was ready on time and came with free miso soup. The ONLY thing is that, it supposed to come with spicy tuna roll but the rolls were just regular tuna roll. Otherwise, the fish is fresh and sushi rice had a very good consistency. I will come back for sure.

The food at Sakaki is full of flavor and the prices are reasonable for the amount. I think, after being twice, that the AYCE is not as worth it for me personally because I'm not a big eater, but it's totally worth it if you want a lot of variety and you have a good appetite. I really liked the rolls in particular. The service was excellent- it was a nice balance of coming over once in a while to ask how we were doing without coming over too much. The vibes are awesome with a really nice interior- definitely a nice place to go for a date,!just to go with friends to have a nice meal, or even to grab a meal alone since the center has a large area for single seating. Fyi- for the AYCE menu, note that once you put in an order for a round, you can't order for another 10 min so be sure to order enough at a time. Also, there is a time limit to the AYCE (I think it was 90 min). This'll definitely be a place I go to regularly in the future!

My husband and I dined in for the first time today, and we were both very impressed with the atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. Hayden was our server, and he showed exemplary hospitality skills. He made us feel welcome, checked in on us frequently without feeling overbearing, and made sure we knew the AYCE menu is double-sided. Speaking of, the AYCE is such a great deal! I used to live in Vegas, where AYCE sushi is very common. Unfortunately, for most of them, since the focus is on quantity, the quality suffers. This is not the case for Toryumon! Maybe it's because it isn't strictly an AYCE place. You can absolutely order items a-la-carte from their regular menu (as I had done previously for take-out). The items are exactly the same whether you order from the regular menu or the AYCE. Same quality, and, this is important, same size! Yes, you will receive a FULL-SIZED bowl of ramen if you order it from the AYCE menu. Not all of the menu items have descriptions, and I was surprised by some of them (not in a bad way, just wasn't what I was expecting), such as: The avocado salad. I was expecting it to be cubes/chunks of avocado tossed with a dressing. What came out was a lettuce salad with sliced avocado on top. The dressing was good, slightly sweet. It was a good salad, just not at all what I was expecting. The sweet potato sushi roll is served warm, the sweet potato is deep fried, and there is eel sauce on top. The sweet potato rolls I had other places were not fried, and served cold. I really enjoyed this one! Everything seemed very fresh, not a hint of wilting greens or brown avocado to be seen! I am so grateful to live right down the road from this amazing establishment. If you enjoy ramen, sushi, and other Japanese items, def give them a try! There are bathrooms available for guests. What my stars mean: 5 is outstanding, memorable, a place to write home about! A must-experience. Someplace I would love to recommend to tourists, and visit myself again and again. 4 is great, somewhere I'd love to return again and again. Back-up recommendation for tourists. 3 is good. A solid option if I am in the area. I may recommend to locals, but would probably leave it off my list of recommendations for tourists. 2 is ok, but only because it a great value, unique, and/or convenient. 1 means I would not return.

Service. Absolutely inappropriate and inadequate…read more I walked in at 8:30pm on March 5th, 2026. There were two young female staff apparently taking care of something on the phone. Instead of actually greeting me, and asking me to give them a moment, she looks up at me (not even the staff member on the phone) and raises her finger at me??? The audacity of that was plenty of fuel for the one star. As if that weren't enough, when the associate that was on the phone was done, her colleague looks at me and asked what I "needed"...I chose to tell her I was there to dine, again, standing there alone, and her response was, "I'm not supposed to automatically know that." Representing the restaurant in this manner let me know she didn't desire my business, or presence. I promptly let her know that I'd pass on dining there, and left your establishment. I don't care HOW good your food may be, your staff's customer service and attitude ruined the chance I was taking to try a new local establishment. I'll be sure to share my experience with whoever asks, but I encourage the enhancement of customer service training to prevent losing more diners like myself.

When I came in for Tuesday lunch, I wondered why this place wasn't teeming with more young professionals?! I mean, Ballston Quarter serves up $14 platters, which is the same lunch special here. And with tip screens so ubiquitous... you get the point. Anyhow, the server for my table was gracious. She exuded a very kind energy. And now onto the food... I was hungry so ordered the spring rolls appetizer AND one of the lunch specials (choose 2 sushi rolls + salad/soup) Spring Rolls - 6/10 They are actually fried and hot to the touch so be careful! I cut mine before eating. At $6, they are pretty decent value. Lunch Special Salad - 8/10 I loved the carrot miso vinagraitte on the iceberg lettuce. The only thing that would have made it better would be a nice crunch (toasted sesame seeds/wonton crisps) Shrimp Tempura Roll - 7.5/10 This is an elevated tempura roll with orange roe and eel sauce. Very filling as far as sushi rolls go. Salmon/Mango/Avocado Roll - 5/10 The rice layer on this roll was paper thin and the salmon tasted flat and flavorless, instead of that rich, buttery taste that high quality fresh salmon should have. On this visit, I noticed that the fillings are generous here but the rice is sparse/underseasoned on vinegar. I'd love to better appreciate the fine balance of the ingredients. Overall though, I enjoyed my meal. It is a strong spot and one that I would return to.

The layout is interesting -- there's an upstairs when you walk in, but the sushi bar and a good bit of seating are downstairs. The menu is pretty straightforward with a mix of hand rolls, appetizers, specialty rolls, nigiri/sashimi, and traditional rolls. They also have a few solid combo deals, though I usually prefer trying a variety of items instead. Service was quick, which is always appreciated at a sushi spot. We ordered a few specialty rolls, two traditional rolls, and a couple orders of sashimi, all served together on one platter. The rolls were a great size -- filling without being overly large. The sashimi was fresh, and the traditional rolls really balanced out the meal nicely. The flounder and tuna sashimi were both excellent, and the California roll made with real crab was simple, fresh, and really satisfying. The total came out somewhere in the $70 range, so after tip and splitting it between two people, it was about $40 each to try multiple rolls and sashimi. Definitely fair pricing for the quality and amount of food. This spot had been on my list for a while, so I'm glad I finally made it over.
