New Wave Kitchen - O.G. Miso ramen

I've been to New Wave Kitchen a few times now, as I am always in the mood for a good bowl of ramen…read more The Ramen here is probably the best you can get in the immediate area, and I can confirm it is solid. I ordered the House Ramen and it left me feeling satisfied. The noodles were a perfect texture, had the right amount of chew for me, not overcooked at all. The toppings were all tasty as well, including the flavorful pork. I was only left wanting more from 2 aspect of the bowl - the broth (which is a huge component!) and the egg. This was just a regular soft-boiled egg, not a soy egg, so it didn't have that extra special touch for me. But, back to the broth - while it was good and comforting, I feel it lacked in flavor and mouthfeel. Still good, just underwhelming. However, I do always enjoy the atmosphere at New Wave Kitchen. It's cozy and inviting, an intimate spot to enjoy some comfort food with friends. Bonus points for playing Kiki's Delivery Service while we were there, too! The staff were super friendly during our visit as well. Customers order at the counter here and then food is delivered to your table. The workers were very nice, courteous, and helpful. I am a ramen lover and will gladly return to New Wave Kitchen any time!

I just came here a couple of days ago for a Yelp event (please check that review for my thoughts on…read morethe pork bun and Sapporo-style ramen on their menu). I liked it so much that I decided to come back and dragged my co-worker with me. The interior is sort of a long narrow-ish setup, with seating on one side, and the ordering counter on the other side. Edison-style bulbs lined the area, providing a warm, orange-ish light. Cozy. You walk up to the counter and order. They'll give you a number and bring your order to your table. I ordered the blackened tuna bun and O.G. Miso ramen (with an addition of pork and egg), with a Yuki Tora sake. The tuna bun was tasty. I believe the tuna was aburi torched, and it was topped with carrots, scallions, wakame, and sesame seeds. It also had eel sauce and wasabi, which created a great flavor combination between the piercing spice of wasabi and the sweetness of eel sauce. The O.G. Miso ramen used a miso broth, with carrots, cabbage, shiitake, topped with scallions, sesame seeds, and a piece of nori. And of course, I added pork and an egg to it. I love shiitake in my ramen broth, as it adds a bit of savoriness, and also provides a bit of meaty texture. The miso flavor in this broth is much more prominent compared to the Sapporo-style ramen, however, I found Sapporo-style broth much more complex and balanced. I think what I was missing in this would be a drizzle of sesame oil. I also got a Yuki Tora nigori sake with my meal, which I found I loved from the Yelp event a couple of days ago. One with the meal, and another one as just dessert after the meal. Also convinced my co-worker to try it, and he also liked it. This place is definitely worth the visit. In general, you won't find ramen this good unless you're willing to go into the city and pay as much for an hour's worth of parking as your meal costs.

We went there for my boyfriend's birthday & I requested a birthday dessert as a surprise for him for after dinner. Staff said they had mini macaroons, but later came back with a mini sushi cake with candles on top! We were able to share it across the table & it was delicious. They made his birthday so memorable for this moment alone. As for the food, the rice-to-sushi ratio was perfect. The fish melted like butter & they were all so fresh. We agreed it's our top 3 best sushi experiences ever!

I visited Mori Sushi last week, and was shocked I had not heard of them sooner. We ordered several rolls: the Volcano Roll, the Mori Roll, the Crunch Roll, the Dynamite Roll, the Hawaii Roll, and the Godzilla roll. I loved each and every roll, but the stand out's were the Godzilla roll and the Volcano roll. Both very unique and must-gets. All of the fish we had was so fresh and I was super impressed. The prices are on the higher side, but reasonable for what you are getting. The actual restaurant is in a small plaza next to a grocery store. The inside is nice, nothing super special, but it doesnt need to be with sushi like that! I will be visiting again, soon!

Tucked away in the Corrigan Financial complex just off Aquidneck you will find this awesome sushi/ramen factory! The service is definitely on point and very attentive to your needs. Quickly sat on a Saturday afternoon and took a look over the specials menu and just had to try the Sushi Pizza. Interesting concept and very filling, hot starter for more than just yourself for sure. The sushi rice is fried to create the base and then the toppings with protein selection is applied. I tried it with spicy salmon and it was good, little light with protein, but flavorful. For my main I went with spicy miso ramen which comes with three tempura shrimp as well. It was a hefty meal for one and needless to say I brought home my future meal as I could not make it through everything. The broth had a light to medium spice level and hit the ramen spot. There is a good selection of beer, wine and cocktails as well, I opted for some green tea which was hot and warmed me up perfectly. The vibe is relaxing and casual to easily enjoy group conversations if you have company with you. There is bar seating along with general seating booths or tables throughout the restaurant. If you haven't tried this tucked away gem, worth hitting up and tackling the menu for another awesome sushi/ramen shop on the island!

The sushi itself was genuinely delicious once we finally got it, and the atmosphere wasn't bad if you're looking for a more upscale, boujie vibe and don't mind sitting for a while. That said, the portions felt a bit small, especially for the price point, which was noticeably more than our usual sushi spot. We ended up leaving still pretty hungry. The most disappointing part of the experience was unfortunately the service and wait time. From the time we ordered to the time we were actually served, it took about an hour. Our waitress seemed incredibly overtasked and only came to our table twice the entire visit. She also didn't bring out our dishes, which added to the disconnected experience. Overall, it just didn't meet the expectations we had going in. Good sushi, but between the wait, service, pricing, and portion sizes, it wasn't quite the experience we were hoping for.
