The ebidon was also delicious and the broth was perfect for putting in the rice. The desserts were also great. The strawberry ice cream was addicting, and the hot dorayaki paired with the matcha ice cream was delicious. I made a reservation mistake and thought that we would not be able to eat there but a stroke of luck had us down for an 8PM reservation the next night. Great little hole in the wall like Japanese restaurant with mostly Sushi bar seating. We had the edamame, chicken karaage, some incredible mushroom dish, the Coquilles, tuna tartar and YES the fabulous pork chop which we missed last year as per below. It was all wonderful and since we drove down from Strasbourg just to eat at La Lune our expectations were high. Terrific at every turn. The one thing I am angry with myself for is not getting the name of the wonderfully talented Japanese chef and the gent that runs the front of the house (with some help from a capable colleague this year). I really would like to recognize them by name but it will have to wait until next year. Very few restaurants are a total hit but La Lune is one of them. Cannot wait to return.

When I looked into the restaurant later, I found out that it was promoted on some Swiss television show ("Mini Beiz, dini Beiz") before explaining the owner and his history a bit. For entrees, we ordered the Tanpopo complet beef curry with boiled egg and a miso ramen bata with added spicy white sesame oil. One side note: I liked the kick of the spicy oil, but since that particular ramen comes with butter, it felt a bit too oily. My recommendation is to only add spicy oil to ramen that doesn't come with butter :) I felt that both the curry and ramen dishes needed some salt. Luckily, this was easily remedied by a couple shakes of the salt shaker. Overall, we enjoyed our first lunch in Chamonix!
