Fresh, Flavorful Sushi! I had dinner at Sushi Hama last night, and let me tell you--it was amazing. The fish was so fresh, the kind that makes you pause for a second just to appreciate it. The rolls were beautifully made, and you could really taste the quality in every bite. The place has a calm, relaxed vibe--simple but with nice touches that make it feel welcoming. And the service? I visited this restaurant this past weekend with my cousin as we were craving sushi. The staff were all very friendly and our food came pretty quickly. We ordered a few salmon rolls, and crispy rice roll. Everything was good except the crispy rice roll that was cold and super hard as if it had been sitting out for a while. It tasted old. Other than that I would definitely recommend. Location is nice where you can enjoy a walk on the pier after. Place was small and quaint and clean. I wish I could rate this place higher but unfortunately we did not enjoy our experience here. The food took an exceptional amount of time to come out and it was okay at best. Just so nice to sit at an old school sushi bar with the chef and his helper cranking out good quality fish, fresh, fair servings, good service, great pricing and the best thing; they use real crab in their rolls, just make sure you request it. I've been coming here for a little over a year now and it is my favorite sushi spot. I dread going to other sushi restaurants because I know it's not going to be as good as Sushi Hama. They have the most delicious and fresh rolls I've ever had. And everyone that works there is so welcoming and sweet. Came to this place on a friend's recommendation. I am so happy that it was actually really great quality fish everything felt like it just melted in my mouth! My friend and I were just speechless bc we love trying new sushi spots and this one is possibly top 2. We tried the salmon belly sashimi, the yellowtail, and a JJ Roll as well as the truffle makers roll because we just had to try it! The service was friendly & we got everything we needed! Went strolling around Seal Beach and decided to find a place to eat. The place looked clean, quiet and inviting so we dined here for lunch. We were greeted with friendly smiles. We sat near the window where you can see people walk by and still be feeling privately seated. I had the salmon teriyaki. It came with salad and miso soup. The salmon's cooked perfectly. Crunchy skin, moist salmon and flavored just right. The salad, though small, was dressed appropriately. The salad dressing very yummy. The miso soup with tofu and seaweed was spot on. Truly not from a packet. My partner ordered the yaki soba. Very reminiscent of our tours in Japan. Brought us back to the little shops of Tokyo. A great new addition to Main Street! We started with a bottle of their house sake, cold which worked nicely with our apps - garlic edamame, mixed tempura, and miso soup! Which the owner so kindly gave us on the house! They offer a great mix of traditional sushi and creative specialty rolls. We tried the JJ roll, the salmon avocado cut roll, the yellowtail scallion cut roll, the yellowtail jalapeño dinner set, stripped sea bass, black snapper, and scallop sushi. One thing to add (perhaps it's been a bad night), but we waited 45 minutes for the first roll to come out, and at that point in time, there were only 2-3 other parties that were already there before us (some, notably, had some sort of food already). Ordered salmon belly sashimi, salmon nigiri, tuna nigiri and ootoro nigiri (as well as a Philadelphia roll and a kids chicken teriyaki for the kids).
