Spotted Sushi Kan when our group was looking for sake bombs! Luckily, we had more than a fab time with the sushi rolls, COVID-safe capacity, and prices. We placed a reservation around 7pm on a weekday, but luckily didn't have to wait at all even without the res. This is a great spot for after-work bites or even a quick no-frills meal. The menu is easy to navigate, and we wanted to start with a pitcher of Sapporo and their house hot sake. I'm so glad their house sake was hot! Not too rice-y, and it didn't scald my throat. I wish the cups were a bit larger so we could properly do our sake bombs, but nevertheless...the prices were a steal. The 2nd hot sake you get is ONE CENT. Yup, one cent only! There were so many specialty rolls to choose from, as well as bento boxes, hand rolls, nigiri, etc. I myself am more of a roll lover, so I was excited to see so many options from deep-fried to fresh fish to baked fish-based sushis. I had the kuro shio roll which was so intriguing with their seaweed salad and two fresh fish, yellowtail and spicy tuna. I loved it and def could've had more to eat. My friends loved their salmon skin roll, and the chicken teriyaki bento was HUGE in portions. Would highly recommend coming here for their sake bomb deal during dinner time at least. Parking is limited in a small lot right by the entrance, or you can try and park in the bigger lot also along 1st st. Service was efficient, fast and polite. read more

worst service we have ever experienced at a restaurant. The waiter took over 15 mins to come see if we even wanted water when the restaurant was almost empty. After waiting so long, she rudely came up to our table and said " what to you want". nothing else. i assume she wasn't feeling well or something because while my man asked a simple question of a dish they had, she put her hands in her face as if she was upset and then grabbed my menu to fan herself down. very weird, and made us uncomfortable. Don't make it known to customers how badly you wish you weren't at work. Giving 2 stars only bc food was just okay and came out quick. ( once our waiter finally decided to come to our table after 15 mins at first) would not come back or recommend. read more

Honestly, I hate to tell others about this place because it is a hidden gem in San Jose. We come here every time we are in town. The sushi is always fresh. Emily and Eric, the owners, are cheerful and personable making sure your every need is addressed. If you want sushi, fresh and quick, this is the place to eat. I checked out this place mainly because I saw consistent reviews that the fish quality was pretty good and fresh. I got takeout on a Friday night for my mom's birthday and it was very fast! Overall, fish quality was a lot better than most local places and the rice was decent. I can't speak for the rolls as I did not order any or am a fan, but the nigiri and sashimi were solid. I also got a k-Chirashi bowl, but felt like the gochujang sauce was a tad bit too sweet than what I'm used to for that kind of dish. I wish they gave a bit more ginger but that's because I love ginger with sushi. Solid place, might order takeout again if I'm in the area. read more

Sushi Kan has a small parking lot on the back of the restaurant. Service was quick and our server was attentive. Plenty of food selections from sushi, to udon and ramen, and bento boxes. Plenty of indoor seating and the ambiance was nice. It wasn't loud despite having at least a dozen customers. Our server also offered to have separate check before we even requested for it. Came to this restaurant and didn't think the price aligned with the quality. Sushi was expensive and restaurant management felt stingy. Asked for siracha (pic included for reference to size) and was charged $1. Wanted to order some spicy Mayo to compliment my app, but did not because it would have also been $1. Horrible place, they checked marked 18 percent for me on my receipt. The food was salty and they literally serve you half ass they threw the plates down on the table. I wish I could add Zero Stars. Service was terrible. Asked for Miso Ramen. Takes an extended time to bring out. After my group gets their food, it takes an extended time for me to get my Ramen (over 20 min). When I questioned the waitress, she tells me, "Oh we are not known for our Ramen so it takes long to make." So then I question, why have it on the menu then? It's my first time going to Sushi Kan but I had bad experience because of the bad service. Service: We ordered beer but the foam was like 1/3 of the cup. We had to ask if they can get rid of some foam but the server seemed very displeased and slammed the cups when she put it down.. The rolls came out very quickly, but sake don took more than 40 min... I had to ask if the sake don will be served soon, one lady told us it would took awhile, later the other server came and she didn't remember we ordered sake don :( They also refused our request to have food come out about same time. Food: I will give about 2-3 out of 5 for food. It tastes average and fish seems ok fresh. Parking: easy to find parking at back side of the restaurant. read more

Last night I just wanted Sushi ‍ and it was later at night. I thought "omg why are you like this, what sushi place will be calm nice atmosphere, dine-in, delicious food, and reasonable priced?!" Sushi Kan, that's where! I went alone, took myself out on a date. The staff were very nice when I arrived at 10:05 last night they close at 11pm don't you judge me! Anywho, the restaurant was inviting, food was great, price excellent for such service, presentation, and quality. I've visited Sushi Kan multiple times across the last few years and each time I've received quick service and quality food. However during my latest visit once it came time to pay the bill the waitress decided to automatically check a tip option on the bill. I have tipped at least 15-20% in cash during my past visits but giving yourself a tip instead of allowing the customer to make the decision left a bad taste in my mouth. Do not come here unless you have a lot of time and money to waste, and you aren't hungry. The size of the sushi is so incredibly small and expensive, and it takes over 30 minutes to get one roll of sushi. read more

I was so disappointed in this place. I called to make an order and was given the most rude attitude I have ever encountered from an employee at a business. She rushed me, mocked my questions about the menu, and told me I didn't need as many chopsticks as I requested for 4 items (4, mind you, not anything crazy) she argued with me about what i wanted to order even though it was all reasonable things in the menu. Then I get my food and it was not very flavorful at all, my colleagues agreed. I ended up spending $42 on just a bento box and 3 hand rolls that had no sauce or flavoring besides rice. So disappointed in this place. I wanted to enjoy it so badly read more

Ok so people are probably going to clown me for this but I've never been to a sushi place where they don't have cooked options. I tend to stay away from consuming raw anything and when I realized there weren't any options I decided to play it safe with some salmon. It was actually pretty good and wish I had ordered another roll. Honestly, if I didn't look at it I wouldn't be too fazed by it not being cooked although sometimes the texture got to me. Still, it wasn't an overwhelming feeling and enjoyed my dinner. The wait times to be seated were decent and the service was fast and friendly. They also have chicken bento boxes for those people in your life who are not sushi fans. read more

One of my favorite mom/pop sushi spots in the South Bay. Their fish are always delicious and fresh. My wife and I ordered the nigiri deluxe, uni, sake, toro, hotate, and maguro nigiri. We also ordered the ankimo(monkfish liver), which you have to try! The texture is like paté and taste like foie gras. Overall, it is a great sushi spot. See you around. read more

Usually picky about sushi places and this spot exceeded expectations! Very tasty and fresh. Service was incredibly prompt. I ordered Gyoza which was perfectly crispy with great flavor. I've only ever ordered takeout from here, so I can't speak to the dine in experience, but the takeout is PHENOMENAL! It is one of my favorite sushi spots in San Jose. Even on busy weekend nights, they are quick to prepare your food after ordering. It's located on first street next to a few other popular restaurants. They are always friendly with taking and giving the order, and they've made good suggestions for something else to get when they're out of what I want. I normally get a few rolls and a few orders of nigiri. The sushi is always so fresh and tasty! Our favorite of the special rolls is the Wizard Pee. Highly recommend trying it if you haven't yet. read more

Bento box ordered of 3 items. Salmon teriyaki, avocado roll and chicken katsu. The chicken katsu is to die for. It is savory. Somewhat dry, and crispy in which I prefer. This is the katsu that one cannot get enough of. My wife preferred the salmon teriyaki. Tasty since the skin is extra crispy. Found this place recently; had their Toro Nigiri, Salmon Sashimi, and a roll that I've forgotten the name of. Everything was 10/10, the Wasabi had an enjoyable kick to it as well, and that's why I'm giving this spot 5 stars. Service was fabulous here. Bestie n I had the karaage chicken, edamame, oyster shooter, beef udon noodles, orange blossom roll (salmon), and rainbow roll. Everything was delicious, I couldn't ask for more from a sushi restaurant. Busy around lunch time but nice atmosphere. read more

Honestly, I've been to the Izakaya next door so often and never actually realized there was a sushi restaurant on the other side! Finally got a chance to try out Sushi Kan. We placed an online order to-go, ordered a few rolls plus some side dishes. My boyfriend got an Extremely Sexy Roll and a Flaming Dragon Roll, while I got a California roll for myself - I found out recently that I sadly can't eat raw fish anymore, so have to adjust what I can eat at sushi restaurants. We also got a side of gyoza and takoyaki. Pick-up was fast and easy, but they seemed super swamped and busy inside with all the dine-in folks. The portion size for each roll was good - filled us both up! My boyfriend's favorite was the Flaming Dragon Roll, since it was packed with all kinds of spice from the jalapeno, spicy mayo, spicy crab meat, etc. The other roll was also tasty, but we thought there would be more mango; there was only a tiny slice on the entire roll itself. You can't really go wrong with a California roll LOL, so I was pretty happy with my food. The takoyaki was delicious and warm, with a big chunk of octopus in the middle. Overall, pretty satisfied with the entire meal given that I could only try so many of the items on the menu. I think we would definitely come back in the future! It's super close to my house and also the SJC airport, so great for a quick sushi dinner. read more

The restaurant wasn't too big inside and there was a short line outside while we're there. The line went away pretty quickly, though. Food came out within 10 minutes after placing our order. I had their Signature Free Range Chicken Big-bus Miishien Soup for the "crossing the bridge noodles" experience. The broth was piping hot and very flavorful. I put all the fixings and noodles into the broth except the cashew nuts and the chicken, which I put in right before I was about to eat them. The chicken was very lean and tender. I even ate the skin as there's no fat attached to it. I also loved the texture of the noodles. The mushroom was great, just too little of it. I wish they had used corn ribs or another vegetable as the corn kernels were very hard to fish from the broth. While it was a delicious and satisfying bowl of noodles, the "Big-bus" version was a bit overpriced. Our daughter liked her Small Pot Spicy Ground Pork Miishien Soup (Less Spicy), especially how the mini Chinese donuts soaked up the broth. I had a bit of her broth and ground pork, and it was yummy with just a bit of numbing spininess. We both liked their pickles from the sauce bar and at the table. My husband enjoyed his Small Pot Spicy Ground Pork Miishien Soup with free extra miishien as well. After selecting Checkout on Chowbus, payment was done via a staff who came by. I signed up for their rewards program when I ordered, and got 10% off. I would love to come back and try their spicy beef noodles. I noticed a promo sign outside the restaurant for some of their noodle dishes (@$12.99) from Monday to Thursday, during specific hours.
