Excellent service, excellent product, measured and solid. Fish is good as always. I like the nigiri format of 3 delicate slices over rice. Fits my sensibility when I take the first bite, ponder the subtlety, next slice just enjoy and then one more bite to put a button on the dish. Rather cool and works for me. Extensive list of maki and local inspired rolls. There's something for everyone. Lunch Bento boxes are HUGE and enough for two, YMMV but wifey took near 400g of teriyaki salmon home. Big. Salmon was a bit overdone but not worth complaining. Room is a bit run-down showing its age. Could use a bit of interior spruce-up but doesn't interfere with the quality of experience. Hell, ur in a local, small-op neighborhood eatery. Food n service is the vibe n they do rather well all considered. Wine list is weak but again, that's not what ur there for, I reckon. I moved to Green Valley 23 years ago, there was only Safeway.. the Sushi King opened.. and it became the place to eat sushi locally. It changed ownership and perhaps chefs over the years and then tanked.. it had been at least 8-9 years. I decided to try it about 1 year ago, thought ok, not bad, fish was fresh, 5-6 months ago, had a really good experience with 2 chefs 2 different ethnicities not Japanese ! and made excellent rolls, the menu had changed, had become more creative. The fish just melted in your mouth. I complimented the owner who was Japanese for being outside of the box with everything from his hires to the menu.. So this evening, took myself out for dinner, second time in the past six weeks that I come back. My last experience was good, fish was excellent, the tempura not so good, it was very oily tasted ok, I ate it. Tonight, I got the Green Valley Roll.. it was excellent, very fresh, loved the kick to it. I decided to give the tempura a second chance..it came to me literally dripping with oil in a basket that was lined with parchment paper, that was soaked in oil, the basket had small holes that dripped the oil on my leg. I had shorts on so no clothes were soiled. So with all that said, thanks to all who have stuck with this review..everything I have had at Sushi King in the past few months has been very good including the service. 3.5/5 Food is a little pricey but the sushi was as expected. Nothing really stood out to me, though I will say they put effort into presentation, and there was nothing to complain about. The fish was fresh but the portions were smaller than I'm used to. Our waitress was very very friendly and helpful but otherwise it's just another average sushi place. read more

Had sushi here for the first time during a Friday lunch, I was surprised to see so many people in there. Prices are definitely high, we sat at the sushi bar and their ingredients seem of good quality so I imagine that is why. Definitely overheard other parties having conversations about the prices though. Service was timely and sushi was delicious. I personally wouldn't make this my daily sushi spot, simply because I can find more affordable sushi but the food and service was great! read more

2022 updated review! Hidden Gem is what I like to call this place. Quaility of the fish is amazing. When the sushi chef adds the fresh wasabi on the fish it gives the nigiri a different flavor. The caliente roll is worth trying if you're into spicy rolls! When I order my nigiri fix I always look forward to the amaebi because the sweet shrimo head deep fried is the best part. (Do no be afraid to eat the whole head is fried to perfection and onolicious!) I reccomend sitting at the bar if youre eating sushi. Its worth the experience read more

I have been here quite a few times already and every time I've gone, it's never failed to impress me or my friends! It's such a clean, cozy space and the service is incredible. All the staff are very welcoming and so polite. The sushi here is incredibly delicious! The O Toro was the highlight for me! It was so fatty and melted in my mouth. Very little chewing required. The food here is astronomically better than any sushi restaurant in the Bay Area!! They are underrated and you have to know where they are, but the sushi is innovative and multilayered in its flavor or texture, depending on the dish. I've been the sushi King a few times. Today I got takeout. It was really good. The service was fast and the staff working there were really nice. The rules I got were really good and fresh. If I had to critique anything is that they're a little pricey, but I think everything's a little pricey lately so that might be the new normal. It's worth a try. It was the best sushi I've had in over 30 years, and yes lived in Japan. The head chef trained under a head chef from Japan. We experienced A5 Wagyu from Kobe.... YES REAL A5 Wagyu!!! We had Engawa (most Americans do not know what this is)....And it's amazing it's like a filet tenderloin of a small halibut... seared), Hamachi belly, Salmon Belly, Oysters, Kama Toro, O'Toro and Halibut.... Absolutely Amazing.... You cannot find the above at most high end Sushi restaurants in SF...... or anywhere.... all in Fairfield strip mall. Thursdays are when the fresh big order for fish comes in. Hello Fellow Food Lovers. Yesterday I treated myself to sushi. I sat at the Sushi Bar where I was able to watch the Sushi Chef prepare several dishes for me. I ordered Uni, so fresh, and his unagi was perfection. I had two types of tuna & OMGAAAAWD melt in your mouth delicious. Also had a special roll. Forgot the name but it's the first one on the menu. The Chef makes his own wasabi & again it was delicious. Everything was delicious! This Sushi Chef was SO NICE. So was his helper. I'm sorry I didn't ask their names. This man learned his trade from the floor up and it shows. He really is a master at his craft. The restaurant itself is small, super clean and unassuming. What it doesn't dish out in va-va-voom, it makes up with professional wait people who are sweet and accommodating. I'll be going back soon :-) read more

We moved to Fairfield a year ago and were skeptical that we would be able to satisfy our sushi cravings without going to SF or to Oakland. We found this hidden gem literally a mile from home and are thrilled to live so close! In the last few months we have become regulars - and rank it up there with the best places we've ever had sushi! It's in a strip mall near Costco and you might not even notice it. Once you place your order though, you won't soon forget it! The fish is always incredibly fresh, and top quality cuts. The menu is creative and extensive. The chef regularly tries new things and even takes suggestions about items we've had in other places and liked. Price wise, it's very reasonable / I've read a few reviews that say it's expensive but it's not. Eating out in restaurants in general isn't cheap these days but Sushi King is very competitively priced. We've gotten to know a few other regulars as well which makes it fun to go back every week. I've been frequenting this place for years and have never had any issues. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but they've made a few renovations since then. Sushi bar also sits about 10 people. There has been a huge turnover with staff over the past couple of years, but the food and sushi chefs have always been good. Their new sushi chef, Won, however is simply chefs kiss from taste to presentation. Love everything he makes and the quality of the fish has greatly improved. read more

Never would have thought it but this place is a solid sushi spot. We've been about 15 times now. It's been great every single time. Chirashi bowl is a must and the selection of fish used is all fresh and good size pieces. The blue fin tuna spoons are amazing. He is literally using a tweezer to make those things. Small sushi place in a shopping center. They have a few rolls that are reasonably priced around $10. The majority of them are $18-24 for the speciality rolls. I had the green valley roll which was very good! Unfortunately, the spicy tuna was far too fishy for my taste and I could only eat one piece. My friend said it was the same on his roll, but when it was mixed with other things it was palatable. Service was good and relatively quick. Most likely will not return. read more

First time tried out this place....... We ordered 2 rolls- tiger roll and 49ers roll. When the server put down the first roll she said it is 49ers roll. Second server put down another roll...said it is 49ers roll?!??!!?? And I was like huh?!? She said the first one is tiger roll. Well looking at the roll, they look very similar...taste very similar...sauce is the same. That's why 3 stars.
