It's SO HARD to find good sushi in Jacksonville.... At sushi Q (I did really like the name and I keep humming the song Susie Q), the fish was good quality but not the freshest. The rice was not like traditional Japanese sushi rice, and their Philly roll is just crab meat and cream cheese which is odd. The bento box was a great deal. Came here for a quick lunch with my boyfriend as it's close to his job. There is plenty of parking in front. Inside it's a small place with a couple big booths and some smaller tables. Quickly we were asked our drink orders. They have a lot of different lunch specials on their menu (bento boxes, hibachi and two or three sushi rolls with soup and salad. Also immediately before even ordering we were brought the clear soup with crunchies. My boyfriend and I both wanted sushi so we got the 2 roll special with ginger dressing salads. For lunch, a coworker and I stopped in as it's near the office. We were quickly seated as a walk in, and the staff was friendly. I was excited for teriyaki tofu as it's usually fried or sautéed to have a nice crunch, but they served with just sauce on top. I like tofu, but it definitely left me not wanting tofu for weeks. Just try it! When I say I've had sushi hundreds of times I'm not joking, and though this place isn't your hole in the wall or your fancy dining sushi restaurant it's the middle ground of YES IM COMING BACK! I was so pleasantly surprised by the entire experience! It's small and quite and for some reason always seems likes no one is in here but the take out is ALWAYS busy! The 2 servers seem to always be there and they are great, genuinely my favorite sushi place I've been too in JAX area! It's simple, but they have a variety of rolls! The Christmas Roll is probably our favorite but they're a great selection for everyone! The soup here is also so flavorful and such a great palate builder! Amazing here! I was excited since the town center doesn't have many sushi options, but I probably won't be returning here. My order was well packed and included utensils and sides of soy sauce and shrimp sauce. I got an avocado cucumber roll and a tofu roll. The tofu roll was made with silken tofu, so it was very mushy and unpleasant. The avocado cucumber roll was pretty standard. The sushi wasn't very well made so it fell apart while eating with chopsticks. The side of fried rice and side of noodles were good, but needed a little extra flavor in my opinion. Make sure to specify no egg if you order the fried rice if you're vegan or allergic. The Krab rangoons were the best thing I got. A good amount of filling, very tasty, and the dipping sauce was great. Overall, I wouldn't go here again for sushi. (Which is disappointing since the name is literally Sushi Q) but I can imagine their hibachi might be worth it if you're in the area and need something quick. read more

That afternoon, I ordered 1x lunch sushi special (2 rolls of choice & clear soup), which I picked the avocado tuna & spicy salmon, and a tempura appetizer (includes flashed fried veggies and shrimp). Moving on with my review, this had to be the worst sushi experience of my life. As for the good (if there is any), the clear soup wasn't too shabby as it was light and had crispy bits of onion in it. And, the flash tempura veggies were tender as they had a nice airy/crispy exterior. However, as stated above, on the bad side, the sushi was again awful. Before I even attempted to eat a roll, I had already noticed that the color of the fish had been significantly off. When I asked my server about this, they just reassured me that this was what I ordered. But when I took a bite of the spicy salmon, I immediately sensed a funky aftertaste lingering in my mouth. Being disgusted, I, of course, called over the server to express my discontent, which they then told me that the sushi had come freshly from a brand new package (really now?! If this was the case, they should have thrown it away because it definitely tasted spoiled). Overall, I'm sorry, but both the food and service that day were unacceptable, and therefore, I'm giving sushi Q a 1/5. read more

A coworker and his significant other had gone here for their anniversary and they shared photos of their food. The one item that stood out to me was the roll with kiwi on top. Now, I've had mango on top but with kiwi? I needed to try this and my other coworkers were onboard. They didn't have delivery so I took up the task to go out and get it. As I placed my order online, I found out that the kiwi roll is their Crazy Roll (smoked salmon deep fried, cream cheese, krab meat, topped with sliced kiwi and honey sauce). Dang honey too for $10? I was so down. I also got the Smoked Salmon 5 pcs Sushi for $12. We all placed one order, the website said 30 minutes and 5 mins before it was time I left the office and went over to the restaurant. The place was so busy and they were understaffed. Their was a large group waiting to be seated and the staff was running around like crazy, even the person I assumed to be the owner. A few people who had pickup orders eventually left because their food wasn't ready and from what I could see, they weren't acknowledged either. I wasn't leaving and felt bad for the staff doing the absolute most. They eventually got to me when the inside chaos was stable. My order was being bagged up after standing there about 15 mins. I received it, paid, and left, vowing to never return to the Town Center for lunch again, well, at least not a small place. I got back and distributed the food. I assumed the order was all there as they checked off the items on the receipt stapled to the bag and it was. Thank goodness. I examined my food again and I saw that my Smoked Salmon 5 pcs Sushi was actually Sashimi. Not what I ordered, but it was still welcomed and delicious. The Crazy Roll was absolutely perfect. I loved the right amount of sweetness that somehow went well with the salmon. I'd definitely get that again. My coworkers got the Salmon Lovers Roll, Volcano Roll, House Special Roll, Spider Roll, and Sunflower Roll to which they all enjoyed. We were so hungry that I completely forgot to take photos. Ugh. I got the salmon avocado roll ($5.95), spicy salmon crunch roll ($7.00), 2 salmon sushi ($2.50 per piece), and the plain noodles ($5.75) to save for lunch the next day. I really enjoyed the rolls, but there was a lot of avocado in the salmon avocado roll (almost half fish, half avocado). The spicy salmon crunch roll wasn't too spicy and the topping was different. I order a rainbow roll too as I was hungry. However, the platter was so big it was all I could do to eat it all. Each piece of EVERYTHING was fresh and HUGE. One star because I went with some friends during work lunch. The server got upset at us that she messed up our order. Apparently with the lunch boxes, salads come in the box and not on the side in a bowl. I did not know that and when our server handed me a salad when I ordered a box, I thought nothing of it. All 4 of us ordered a salad either in a box or on their own. A few minutes later my friend who also ordered a salad asked about her salad and our server said she already gave it to us. When we explained we all ordered one and that she handed it to me, she got upset saying that I should have given my friend the salad as mine goes in the box and I should have known. She complained that now she has to pay for the other salad out of her pocket. I have never heard of that before. Mind you, this is my 2nd time being here and I did not order the lunch box last time so I did not know how they served their food. We were intentional to be super nice and suggested she can give my salad that was apart of the box to my friend and put it in a separate bowl, but she retorted that she wasn't gonna do that. She was a young girl and she ended up making everyone else serve us and give us our checks because she did not like that we called her out on her mistake. Decided to try this place out since it's fairly new to the area. The interior is spotless! (Including the bathrooms). Big fan of the cool lighting fixtures and LED lights. People at the sushi bar/waiters were masked the entire time. There was a huge bottle of hand sanitizer right when we walked in. They have an easy to understand menu that isn't too difficult to navigate. I feel like they had the perfect amount of specialty rolls to choose from.
