Amazing service and really fresh fish! There was ample street parking at the time I came, and I was able to get a spot right in front of the restaurant. To be honest, I think the roll I tried was a bit overpriced for the quality even though it was delicious.

I don't say this lightly--Sushi Tomoki is seriously impressive. I try not to compare because I love Yume Sushi, but if I had to, it's on that level... if not better. The quality of the sushi is amazing. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, and the chefs are not only talented but also genuinely friendly. Sitting at the bar is an experience in itself--you can really see the care and skill that goes into each piece. We've honestly become addicted and keep going back. The yellowtail and albacore literally melt in your mouth. Halibut is usually a little tougher compared to other fish, but here it was the softest I've ever had. The black cod nigiri is also a must--so rich and delicious. I also love their spicy mayo. Take my advice and order a real crab spicy tuna hand roll with avocado and cucumber--it's next level. And if you ask, they have real wasabi, which makes a big difference. If you're into high-quality sushi, this place is absolutely worth it.

We met a friend for lunch and what a great recommendation and experience! This place was hopping and the service was great! The menu isn't as expansive enough that you get overwhelmed BUT has enough options that there was something for everyone. I opted for one of the pre-created meals and it was so good! They bring out each plate as it is ready and I thought each round would never end! Definitely worth trying and when in the area again, we will be back! Thanks!

A great option for sushi in the area! I recommend the truffle halibut nigiri, crispy rice spicy tuna, and the yuzu ponzu roll. The rolls are big, and this specific roll was 12 pieces, which I believe is the case for all signature rolls. They are known for their rolls and nigiri! I would definitely make a reservation, especially for a Saturday night, as it was busy until I left around 9! The service was a bit slow, but overall a great experience! Next time I would sit at the sushi bar seems like a fun experience to sit at the sushi bar.

Had a wonderful time with my cousins last night at Sushi Tomoki. It was my first time here but they have been here many times and it's one of their favorite spots in the valley. Saturday night, very busy and loud but the ambiance was great. So cheerful and fun. The hostess whose was also our waitress was amazing. Very friendly and helpful and attentive. Everyone was amazing here. Anyways now the rolls. We ordered their special rolls and I loved them all. Fresh, delicious and fun to eat. They cut the rolls into smaller pieces than other places. The sauces were good also. I loved the yuzu ponzu roll. The crispy rice tuna was also one of my favorites. Overall a great place to meet up with friends or have family dinners.

Came here on a weekday evening for dinner with a friend. Parking on Cahuenga is a bit tricky; there's metered street parking as well as metered and free parking on the side streets of Tomoki but you'd have to walk a bit to get to the restaurant. We had no reservation and were able to be seated immediately and service was quick and polite. Dragon roll 4/5, okay so I'll admit my eyebrow raised at the price when seeing this as just a roll on the menu but this actually comes w a lot of rolls so imo it's a good value! I felt like the fish was fresh and melted in my mouth but that there was something missing. This did come with some sort of orange sauce on top that I think would benefit from adding some tanginess such as some spice?? Rainbow roll 3.5/5, my friend got this and said it was just an average rainbow roll, nothing wildly special

Had to say I was kind of disappointed by this place. The sushis are at most mediocre and definitely not up to the $150 price tier expectation. Fish tastes somewhat fresh but bland. The truffle tastes bland. The ikura however is too salty. You taste everything but they don't blend together well. But most importantly, the chef's nails look dirty and it grossed me out. I understand that if one's nails are too short to clean but it really is a vibe killer if you're touching all the raw food. Won't come again.

Here's the proof that I want her yesterday

I ate at Sushi Tomoki yesterday and a few hours later that night I started throwing up repeatedly and my stomach felt really off. The timing makes me concerned that something I ate there may have caused it. I understand things can happen, but when it comes to sushi and raw fish, freshness and food safety are extremely important. Getting that sick just a few hours after eating there was pretty alarming. I'm sharing this so the restaurant is aware and hopefully looks into their food handling and food quality. If the restaurant would like to reach out to me to discuss this, I would be open to it.

There was definitely a sense of welcome when you walk in the door of Sushi Tomoki. It felt like everyone stopped what they were doing to say welcome in unison. There are three omakase options, but we decided to choose our own adventure. Their spicy tuna crispy rice was only two pieces, but they were generously sized. Tasted delicious and fresh, but could have had a hint more spice to them. Maybe a jalapeño slice. We ordered one cut roll (the dragon) and I was stunned to see how large it was. Plenty to share and tasted really fresh. The cucumber added a nice crunch. We ordered a bunch of different two piece sushi options to try as much as we could. The two standouts were the black cod and the wagyu. The unagi was also great, but we agreed that it could use a little more sauce. Definitely recommend making a reservation. And parking was a little challenging. There is a small lot, but on busy nights the street parking was scarce. So make sure to give yourself some extra time. Restaurant itself was small and intimate, but you didn't feel like everyone was on top of you. All of the servers were super nice and attentive!

Yuzu ponzu roll, cucumber octopus salad, tempura, and Toro, snapper, and salmon sushi

Tomoki is by far the best ratio of quality to price on Sushi Row that we've found so far! We have tried almost everything on the menu since we live next door and it's so convenient to stop in. Some standouts... Their mixed tempura and edamame are top notch, and really good portions. Their yellowtail yuzu ponzu roll is one of the best rolls I've had, and comes with around 12-15 pieces (the touch of black pepper is genius). A close second is the lemon/salmon roll. You can't go wrong with really any of their sushi, but our must-haves when we go are the salmon and the eel mascarpone. The latter is my favorite bite of food I've had in a long time, but warning that it's so good, most other eel will start to pale in comparison! The staff is incredible, remembers us as frequent visitors, and you always feel like you're a part of the fun with the big hello the entire sushi chef staff gives when you come in. The ambiance inside is so versatile, with its little tables and great lighting it is perfect for a casual work lunch or a nice date spot.

Wow what an amazing place this is! And I'm so glad it's close to my work place so I can go more often :) My hubs and kids met and I met there for dinner and we had a blast. We got there before 6 and it was just right on time. It's a good idea to make reservations. They offer the freshest fish that I've had in a while. They don't use imitation anything. Even the crab filled items are real. I added pics but I missed the albacore sashimi pics. We also asked for something special from the chef and they made us an amazing eel roll that I forgot to also take a pic of. They don't carry teriyaki chicken or cream cheese for Philadelphia rolls so be aware if that's your looking for. The hot sake was super fabulous too! And what about the service? Everyone was super friendly, kind and respectful. The place is super clean and on the smaller side but definitely a great date night place. We got mochi and sherbet for our little ones. I would highly recommend the sherbet but didn't get to try the mochi yet. I can't wait to go back for more sushi while I'm at work and do more date nights with the hubs. Thanks all!

Oh my god! I LOVE this place! Everyone is so nice and helpful. The sushi melted in my mouth. Waitresses were awesome and the place is very lively. Everyone welcomes you when you walk in. Parking can be tricky though....we found street parking. I recommend making a reservation ahead of time as the wait times can be up to an hour. But be warned they don't take reservations the day of so plan ahead.

Location and Parking 1 star (= not good!): On Southeast corner of Cahuenga and Lankershim Blvd, next to the always-packed Baked Potato Jazz Club which has no parking of its own. The adjacent self-parking lot is very limited. This few Sushi Tomoki spots are not monitored or enforced and almost never available, often already snatched by the Baked Potato patrons who will be there for hours. Do not park on the the liquor store side or you will be towed away! Street parking is also extremely limited. And there is no valet parking. On weekend nights, you usually end up finding parking blocks away. I humbly think that their parking situation needs immediate attention to ensure their continued success. Venue 3.5 stars: On the smaller side. Newly remodeled, contemporary and comfortable although recently more cramped than before since they have added tables to accommodate the increasing crowds . No outdoor seating. Mid size (about 10 seats) sushi bar. No outdoor seating. Service 3.5 stars: Servers are friendly, polite and helpful, but recently not as attentive as they were once were, probably too busy due to the growing patronage. Food 5 stars: Great, high quality selections, with creative and tasty preparations. Excellent, top notch high quality nigiri and sashimi. Tasty and unique appetizers. Limited menu of hand-rolls and specialty rolls. You can sit at the bar and enjoy a high quality Omakase experience by Master Chef Tomoki-san or choose a table and either do Omakase or order on your own. Unlike many other Japanese restaurants around here, their approach is a little more towards the traditional and purist side. The ingredients and the overall quality are consistently very high. If you are in the mood for good quality and unique nigiri and sashimi, this is the place. If you're looking for huge sauce-drenched, over the top rolls with cute and funny names, this is not the place but trust me; there are several other restaurants along the same stretch that would fulfill your cravings! Prices are a little expensive but more or less on par with other higher quality Japanese restaurants. Drinks 4 stars: Beer (on tap and in bottles), wine and sake. The Last Word 4 stars: I started going to Sushi Tomoki when they first opened a few years ago. At first parking was a non-issue and service was excellent, as they had just opened and were not that busy. Over time, parking has evolved to be a detriment and service is recently becoming marginalized. Recommended with some reservations as already noted!

It was busy, obviously on a weekend, but there were kiosks to place your orders and the desserts came out fast enough given the amount of people there. I'd say, if it is busy, have someone find a table while the other orders so you have somewhere to sit. We tried three different shredded ice desserts, all single size: Matcha, Strawberry and Mango. For a single serving, they are so pretty big. If you get the large one, FYI, it is huge and should be shared by multiple people. The matcha was everyone's favorite. Great matcha flavor of you're in to matcha. The strawberry and mango were more of a her down, having very muted strawberry and mango flavored. Between the two, however, the mango was probably the better one. Just a little more flavorful. It was nice having the fresh fruit on each one though. Overall, a nice shaved ice spot in Ktown serving up a variety of shaved ice desserts. If you like matcha, get the matcha one for sure. As for the strawberry and mango, they're ok but you can definitely get better, more flavorful, fruit desserts elsewhere.
