I've stopped by Sushi Umi a few times while in the area for work meetings, and it's become my go-to lunch spot. I always get the salmon teriyaki and vegetables bento box--it's the perfect lunch break option. The salmon is flavorful, the veggies are fresh, and the portions are just right without being heavy. The service here is consistently great--friendly, fast, and they're always happy to explain anything on the menu if you're unsure. It makes the whole experience easy, especially when you're short on time between meetings. The space itself is clean, bright, and has a calm, inviting vibe. It's a nice little pause in the day when everything else feels rushed. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and want something tasty and reliable.

Veggie lovers dinner

The veggie lovers sushi plate was fantastic, it was the best I've ever had. The ambiance and service were fine, though the bugs on the patio were annoying.

Service was great! Very attentive first thing we walked in and always updated us the wait time. I just got a salmon sushi roll because the pricing is a bit pricey than usual. It's really good, fresh sushi! With a lot of sushi spots in the DMV area, I wouldn't say this is my go-to spot.

Cozy spot in McLean area besides ARCHER hotel. Parking is tricky in a sense that there's only street parking. You have to pay by parking in one of the garages. Food quality is excellent hence the higher than usual price. I had the umi box set for $36.It had salmon, tuna, fried oysters,.scallops, eel and fried fish..smallish portions over rice. Enjoyed my experience. Service is attentive and friendly.

Can not say enough good things about this place! I indulged in the freshest nigiri. Salmon, yellowtail, amber jack... I could not get enough. Chef Boo was amazing making suggestions based on what I liked. I felt very taken care of the whole time I was there. It's a smaller restaurant but provides just the right atmosphere to make it feel comfy. I would recommend this place over and over again.

3.5 stars. Good but very pricey. Had a quick dinner here but shared the taste of umi and the takoyaki appetizer. That was enough for two people but you don't leave feeling super stuffed. I like how they've thought of the little details. For instance mixing imitation crab with the rice. Which is tasty. Or super fresh uni. Or having the fish pressed into a little heart. Like having a cell phone holder for the "window seats" but again, for the food quality, and amount, it is a little pricey. I get the location and food costs. The food was fresh, well prepared, and I would dine here again but not regularly .

Good sushi, conveniently located right next to McLean metro station (parking is hard to find). The sushi was a bit pricey, wish there were more vegetarian options, and sadly no outdoor seating. The indoor seating is a bit cozy, no space for strollers or large groups. Hubby and I ordered a feast! Hubby got the $23 Roll Combo with 3 sushi rolls - California, Salmon & Avocado, and Tuna & Avocado. He enjoyed the sushi rice and all 3 rolls. The Umi Tempura with crispy fritters of sweet potato, carrots, onions, and asparagus was fun to try, but quite dense with veggies heavily coated in thick tempura batter. After a few pieces, I started getting full. Next time, I would skip it to save my room for the sushi. The vegetarian Yam Tempura roll with the cream cheese didn't quite blend well. I would opt for the roll without the cream cheese. The Seaweed Salad was tasty and a good portion. The sparkling Choya plum wine was very sweet and tastes like Moscato wine. I wish there were more vegetarian rolls and dishes available, beyond the standard avocado and cucumber and the Yam Tempura roll. As another Yelper mentioned, it's pricey. We spent $90 on our meal and be prepared to spend $40- $50 per person especially if you order a drink and 2-3 rolls or apps.

Infinite Trio Don

Parking is really limited here. My friend and I stopped by for dinner yesterday at around 5:30 PM and all ~10 spots were taken so we had to park a few blocks away. Not the most convenient for sure. But at least it is metro accessible! The kiss and ride is right outside of the restaurant. Service was friendly and we always had enough water. But the pricing here is very expensive, which is typical Tysons. Unless you're only eating a single maki roll (which is less than a snack), you'll probably be paying over 25 for an entree. INFINITE TRIO DON - 37 Each rice bowl comes with 4 pieces of tuna, 4 pieces of salmon and 4 pieces of yellowtail. I don't normally like tuna too much but it's quite fresh here. Yellowtail here was good but not the best. Salmon is always delicious. The sushi rice was a bit too dry as it easily fell apart. Overall, it's good but kind of steep to be paying so much for a casual dinner. The bowl they served it in was interesting. Never seen anything of that shape or color, lol. Sushi Umi is definitely not a casual meal. Be prepared to shell out 40-50 dollars per person after tax and tip.

Top: chirashi deluxe Bottom: omakase sampler

First time dining at sushi umi and had a great experience! We had to get their sashimi sampler like many of the other diners there. It was $78 for 9 different samples of chef's choice cuts. Besides the sweet shrimp(served with uni), fried mackerel and fried wagyu, each type had 3 slices. I think that is a reasonable price for what you're getting. There's plenty of rice with the sampler too. The chirashi deluxe was $48. Larger portion : probably 15 pieces plus uni. I only wish there was more seaweed to pair. Between 2 girls, we couldn't finish it and brought home a carefully packaged to-go container. The absolute can't miss item: their house wasabi. It is less overpowering than normal wasabi so you put more on your fish. They give you regular wasabi to compare because they know which is superior. Their house soy sauce is less salty and more umami too. The service was excellent. The sweet lady saw that the sun was in my sister's eye and got on top of the chair to help pull the shades down. All the servers were super attentive. Ambiance is bright and casual. They encourage solo dining too with the phone stands provided. Like many others have said, parking is tough. Limited free street parking. We found parking on S. Dartford Drive. Valet available at the hotel around the corner.

Sake Don (Dinner $37)

The environment and the food is very good. It is also pretty expensive. The waitress is extremely friendly and fun. Overall, restaurant wises, I love this place. However, it is quite confusing for the first-time visitor to find the parking place. Here are your two options: 1. Valet parking at the hotel where the restaurant is located. It will cost you $10 plus tips; 2. Public parking at the apartment complex right across the street, and it will cost you about $6 for 2 hours. The lunch menu and the dinner menu is a bit different. I was there for dinner in the weekend, the taste of umi is $79.00. We ordered the Chirashi Deluxe ($48), Taste of Umi ($79) Sake Don ($37). All really really good.

Dragon roll (left)

This is a new, upscale Japanese place that opened up. Don't let the exterior fool you - it's nicer inside than you would expect and great ambiance. There isn't really parking here so you will have to park on the street. For the food -- I ordered take out the first time here and thought it was a 5/5. When I dined in a second time, I would say the food is a 4. Their dinner menu is only 2 pages and the dishes were more on the expensive side. I asked for their special rolls paper menu which is more similar to the regular sushi rolls you find at restaurants. I ordered the Dragon Roll again which was good - unconventional from other Dragon rolls since it has salmon and tuna inside in addition to eel/avocado. There is also asparagus which I wasn't the biggest fan of. My friend got the fried eel and cream cheese (Vegas roll) which she enjoyed. I would recommend if you don't like raw fish, since she doesn't normally have sushi.

Sharon H.

To be honest, I thought this place was a front for the longest time since it was empty all the time. Overall, the food is okay in terms of fish quality. The salmon is vibrant and their takeout is good. I will say though that at this price point and for what you get, it's not really worth it. The interior is very minimalistic and casual, with a bar at the front where the chefs prepare the rolls. It's okay for a quick lunch.

There is plenty of seating that is spacious and well setup, tables are not squished together where you feel as though you have no space to eat. The restaurant is located in a shopping center with many other retailers, so parking is a non issue. I always appreciate good food that is easily accessible without struggling to find parking while out and about with two young kids. We ordered various items from the menu: - Chicken Leg Noodle Soup - My kids loved this. The soup is flavorful and portions are large so perfect to split among two kids. - Pork Soup Dumplings - Solid option, soup broth inside the dumplings was delicious. - Scallion Pancakes - Deliciously fried to perfection. It comes cut into slices, making it easily shareable for the table. - Cucumber with Garlic - Simple dish, but the garlic sauce really makes it memorable. The staff here were great, they were extra mindful of dish placement near my young kids which I really appreciated. All items came out quickly and just as requested. I have visited other locations throughout the DMV and this location was consistent with what I experienced at other locations... friendly staff and delicious food all at a reasonable price. I would definitely come back again if I was in the area :)

For a self-proclaimed Chinese food snob, that kind of consistency across locations isn't just appreciated -- it's rare. This is the place I bring family and friends visiting from out of town when I need to guarantee both quality and a good time. No hesitation, no asterisks. That's a short list. The menu hits two lanes perfectly: bold, soul-warming noodle soups and dry noodles loaded with zesty mix-ins that slap just as hard. The flounder with sour pickled cabbage noodle soup is the move if you want something that's simultaneously bright, funky, and deeply comforting. The spicy beef brisket in golden soup is pure richness -- the kind of broth you'd drink straight if no one was watching. On the dry noodle side, the Chongqing dry noodles bring the heat and the complexity you want from that style. Don't sleep on the small eats. The scallion pancakes and soup dumplings are legitimately all-star -- not afterthoughts, not filler. One pro tip: pay attention to the rotating specials once you've locked in your favorites. And you will have favorites. Probably after visit one. Casual setting, family-friendly vibe, top-tier food. Yu Noodle earns a permanent spot on the short list.

Their Sukiyaki and Original Abura Soba has been by go to. I'd recommend getting the chili oil to complete the taste if you are ok with a little spicy. The marinated beef was cooked to perfection in the Sukiyaki. I also tried their seaweed salad which tasted fresh and had the right amount of seasoning. And their Takoyaki was cooked perfectly and had a good amount of octopus inside. Restaurant inside is bit on the small side but they do have bar counter-style seating too. Tables have been on the cleaner side compared to other restaurants of this price range. Parking is easy too, being a large shared parking lot. Service has been good both times I went with attentive staff and they also know when to leave you alone.

If you come to Kajiken expecting a traditional steaming bowl of ramen, recalibrate. This is abura…read moresoba country -- and they do it exceptionally well. For the uninitiated, abura soba is a brothless ramen where the magic happens at the bottom of the bowl. A savory aromatic oil and tare base sit beneath springy, chewy noodles, topped with a silky poached egg and classic ramen accoutrements. The key is to mix thoroughly -- really commit -- until the egg emulsifies with the oil and sauce, coating every strand in glossy, umami-packed richness. The texture is the standout. The noodles have a satisfying chew that holds up against the weight of the oil without becoming heavy. It's indulgent but not cloying. The customization element elevates the experience: a drizzle of chili oil adds warmth and depth, while a splash of vinegar cuts through the richness with bright acidity. Dial it in to your preference and the bowl transforms in real time. If you're a fan of Chinese scallion oil noodles or Korean jajangmyeon, you'll recognize the comfort-food DNA here -- but abura soba feels more refined and layered. The flavor is concentrated, savory, and deeply satisfying without relying on broth. This is the kind of spot that knows exactly what it is and executes with confidence. A refreshing change from the ramen norm and absolutely worth the visit. Bonus points for the casual kid friendly atmosphere and also offering traditional soup ramen and donburi for less adventurous dining companions.

Sorry for the late post. I was really excited when my husband surprised me with a birthday dinner…read morereservation at Churasko last Saturday 3/28, but I'll admit I was a little nervous after seeing some mixed reviews on Yelp. Thankfully, our experience turned out to be absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived, the host was warm, welcoming, and very patient as we figured out which dining option we wanted. She clearly explained the different experiences--from the churrasco and Wagyu offerings to the sushi and small plates--and gave us time to look over the menu without any pressure. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with great ambiance and music that really set the tone for a special night. My husband chose the Platinum Tier dining experience for my special occasion and it was worth it. Our server, Mike, truly made the entire evening unforgettable. From start to finish, he was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. He took the time to explain each dish, offered great recommendations, and made sure we were always taken care of. We started with Brazilian cheese bread, which was just okay, but the trio of flavored butters (gochujang, black sesame, and regular) was unique and delicious. Then came the Fire & Ice seafood tower, which was not only beautifully presented but also came with a dramatic tableside display. The grilled shrimp and oysters Rockefeller were excellent, and the chilled oysters and sashimi skewers were fresh and flavorful. The lotus chips on the side were also a nice touch. One dish that didn't quite hit for me was the lobster tempura--it was slightly salty and it was a bit soggy when I expected it to be crisp. However, the lobster bisque more than made up for it. It was hands down one of the best I've ever had--the broth was light but yet very rich and flavorful, perfectly executed!!! We were also served a shrimp egg custard that was interesting and enjoyable, though we were already starting to get full at that point! Then came the highlight: the unlimited premium meats. Everything from the A5 Japanese Wagyu to the lamb chops was delicious and high quality. The bone marrow pasta and Wagyu fried rice were standout favorites for us as well. The presentation throughout the entire meal was stunning--every dish felt thoughtfully crafted and visually beautiful. What truly made the night special, though, was Mike. He went above and beyond to make my birthday feel celebrated. He surprised me with all three desserts, a complimentary champagne toast, sparkles candles, and even two beautiful take-home gifts (a set of Japanese-style bowls like the ones used for the lobster bisque, with the restaurant's name on them). That level of thoughtfulness meant so much to us. We had so much food that we couldn't finish everything, and Mike kindly allowed us to pack up what we couldn't finished to take home. Overall, this was an incredible experience with outstanding service. Honestly, it was far better than when my husband took me to Hell's Kitchen a few years ago--we spent just as much there but received nowhere near the level of service or even a simple birthday acknowledgment. Highly recommend Churasko, and if you can, ask for Mike--he will take amazing care of you!

We paid Michelin star prices for airport lounge food. That is how I can describe it. The silver and gold packages per person ARE NOT WORTH IT. For the cost of what we paid per person (which includes tip) and the service reflects that. You could tell our server didn't want to come to our table very much at all. The only thing that blew me away with the gold package which is what we got was the grilled pineapple. The silver package sits you in the silver section with the silver buffet. The gold package sits you in the gold section with the gold buffet. You get the point so your party all has to do one of them...then there's the platinum which I will never find out about because it's NOT WORTH IT. I thought we were going to get lobster and oysters and all of the wagyu tacos I saw on instagram. I come to find out that is the à la carte menu and it is probably way cheaper than what we paid. The most disappointing thing was that we were told we were getting something called Australian and American Wagyus??? Yeah they were awful pieces of meat. I wanted the Japanese A5 Wagyu seared in front of me for $150 a person at a JAPANESE STEAKHOUSE. It's not the American steakhouse or the Australian steakhouse...it's Japanese...The Filet and Picanha were the softest pieces of meat they offered but even then I could have cooked and eaten better at home. Thank goodness the one great thing is that they didn't charge us for the 2 kids because there was no way they were going to eat $150 worth of food each. If they had charged us for the kids, it definitely would have been highway robbery. The sushi at their "airport lounge like buffet" wasn't great either. The sushi and seaweed salad was sitting out for awhile. It was my brother's birthday and we didn't get a cake- you could only choose 1 of 3 desserts from their buffet. I wanted to try the 4 milks cake but since we didn't know or do the à la carte we were limited to what they offered in the gold package. The ambience and vibes are cool. But definitely just stay downstairs and order off their menu. To do it right I would have gotten the first drink on the house for ladies at dusk and ordered from menu. I hate these kinds of steakhouses because you're always left feeling like you didn't get the quality -- you just got quantity. We felt defeated and I could have eaten better at Capital Grille or gone to a Michelin and at least would have felt more wow-ed! -after a $1,220 for 6 people, I honestly want my money back...

It's basically sliced cucumbers with garlic, sesame seed oil, pinch of salt and cilantro. Not a whole lot of flavor but it is cold and refreshing. Missing sour, sweet, spicy and salty. I asked for chili oil. It helped a bit but not much. 6/10 The chicken fried rice looked good.
