My new favorite sushi in Austin! The prices are so good and the fish quality is excellent. The service is also really great, all in all the best price to value ratio for sushi in the Austin area!!!

I went back for round two and still had a good time! Left feeling so full and everything was so yum. I love the scallops here. Lots of sauce and big rolls. They also gave us some free grilled fish appetizer. Would recommend!

Came in to have sushi with a friend. We sat at the sushi bar since there were no tables avaliable. the two rolls we got were just alright, one of them had fish pieces that were so large it made it really hard to eat. the escalor nigiri was good but there is way better in the area. Edemame to me was also just okay . The best thing we had was the fried , stuffed jalapeños. probably wouldn't go back here unless someone else pays lol.

Wow!! Small space big DEAL!!!!! Wow.. can't say it enough. Authentic, beautiful , great service . Fish melts in your mouth and hard to find in central Texas ... Sarah, our server, was informative, sweet and helpful! The service overall was that of fine dining for 2x the price!!! Can not wait for the next time !!

I've got half a mind to not even write this review because I know this place is going to blow up. Luckily, I don't gate keep because this place should be open forever so everyone can get a taste of this delicious sushi. A foodie friend who had gone for dinner said that he recommended literally on the menu and that dinner waits may exceed two hours. So I came here for lunch with a coworker at 1 to avoid the lunch rush. We were seated and served so promptly! It's a small store front that is clean and there are not many tables so I can understand why there may be a substantial wait for dinner, and, it's worth it! You can pretty much see the sushi chef's working their magic from at least half the tables at the restaurant. We had the sea bream as an appetizer that was on the house. My coworker only likes raw fish if it's wrapped in seaweed (so sashimi and nigiri is out with him) but he made an exception for the sea bream and he loved it. I got the chef's set and every bite was exquisite and delicious. The crunch roll was divine and the blue crab roll was good too. Lunch for both of us was about $40 dollars so it's not an everyday place but we were so happy and satisfied with everything we had!

I love Sushi Yume -- hands down my favorite sushi restaurant in Austin. The pricing is fair and the quality is exceptional. They offer daily specials as well as solid lunch deals. If you're not into raw seafood, they have great rolls, but the sashimi is always incredibly fresh. I also love the donburi here -- it's my favorite in town. The rice is perfectly seasoned and the fish is consistently fresh. Compared to other places that are more expensive, the chirashi don here is an excellent value. The space itself is very small and seating is very limited. I don't recommend large groups but I would make a reservation for parties of more than four and calling ahead. They do accept walk-ins, but on weekends expect a 45-60 minute wait.

Had dinner on a Saturday night, wait was about 1 hour. Service was great and everyone is super nice. Really liked the yellowtail sashimi special and crispy rice with tuna. Nigiri pieces were great as well. Salmon blue crab sashimi special: this was probably my least favorite item we ordered. Blue crab meat wrapped in salmon. Flavoring was good but there was too much crabmeat. So the texture is all the same.

Came in for lunch on a Thursday around noon and the place was already packed. I waited about 20 minutes, but it was definitely worth the wait. The handrolls were super flavorful, and the sushi set was fresh and high-quality. I also tried the seared salmon - absolutely amazing! Fatty, tender and juicy with so much umami from the smoky flavor. Would definitely come back.

The food is very good and they serve high quality fish. We love to eat sushi and always look for the best sushi and I can say this place is one of the best price is mot too expensive as well. The staff are nice and very polite. The place is small but very clean. We will come back at this place for sure. We highly recommend this place for people looking for a place to get sushi.

a restaurant worthy of its reputation truly. i came on a friday and was turned away due to the waitlist closing. only three hours after opening!! i made sure to get there right at opening the next day, and my party of 4 were the last to be let in after being 4th in line it's a very small, intimate, and cozy space, and no one rushed you which i truly appreciated everything that we ordered was so skillfully crafted, starting from the agedashi and calamari. the batters for both complemented its main component perfectly. the double salmon roll was decadent and creamy, and the shiso leaf in the futomaki was the cherry on top of that bite - so bright. i loved my vibrant chirashi bowl and spicy scallop handroll. such a lovely experience

Sushi was never this affordable and good in Austin! I've failed to come here multiple times due to the wait times, and this time I showed up at opening. It was so worth Inside the store, it looks pretty simple and humble. The waitstaff are friendly and knowledgable, and there's nothing intimidating or upscale about the storefront. The food, on the other hand, is on par with well established, high end restaurants. The 10 piece nigiri combo was a great price, but I wasn't expecting the toppings and sauces on the dish. Extraordinary work with fresh fish and premium ingredients. I couldn't have asked for anything better. The nebi toro handroll was delicious as well! Yuzu sorbet was fantastic; I was blown away by everything they handed me.

This place is 100% worth the hype. Every single item is made with care and precision, and is absolutely delicious.

Decided to give this spot a try after seeing it pop up on social media and super glad I did! Walked up about 15 mins. prior to opening (11am) on NYE and were 4th in line to get a table. The restaurant is small so it was pretty much filled within the first 10 mins. of opening. Service was quick and casual, food is no frills and delicious, and menu has great variety! All around an easy 5/5 hit - I can't wait to revisit and try other things on the menu! QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, located in a strip mall on the corner. There is plenty of open lot parking space. - Reservations? I don't see any online. You can call ahead and see or try to let them know if your group is larger than 4. FOOD RATINGS: - Chef's choice sushi (lunch special, 5/5): 6 pieces for $24. Loved all of the pieces. Rice is done really well, both in flavor and texture. Fish is generously portioned and melts in your mouth. I wish I ordered more nigiri! - Crispy rice with spicy tuna (5/5): Trendy but done really well! Perfectly crispy rice, generous portion of tuna. A great starter. - Crab puff (4/5): Loaded and tasty. Loved the tempura style roll. Cream cheese balance was nice, sauce was good. - Popcorn lobster roll (3/5): My least favorite thing we ordered. Not sure why it has the word "lobster" in it when there's not actually any lobster. The "popcorn" style crawfish was fun, but overwhelmed the roll. The roll itself was like a basic California roll - nothing special. I wouldn't order this one again. - Snowball roll (I can't remember the name, 4/5): Giant pieces loaded with fish. Rice was super soft and delicious. All around a solid roll! - Seared salmon nigiri (5/5): This was given to us randomly, on the house. They were delicious! Melted in your mouth. Very sweet of them and unexpected. We enjoyed it!

I must have driven by this restaurant whenever I was on Parmer for like 15 years ... and never got…read morearound to going in. When I finally did, I discovered one of the best Japanese restaurants in Austin. Okay ... if you are going to pay $600 for an omikase then the omikase place is better. The tasting menu at Uchi is better. But if you just want Japanese without paying a gold brick and taking out a second mortgage on your house, Miyo Yakitori and Sushi is pretty damm fine. * * * a) Japanese curry is a utility dish in most Japanese restaurants ... and when you get down to it, in most Japanese homes. It is often what you serve on "cheap" night. Airport hotels offer it as the "free dinner" for tired travellers. The curry sauce itself here is standard issue. But they serve it with a Pork Katsu the size of Williamson county. And it is a very good Pork Katsu. That Katsu was good from Liberty Hill to Thrall and from Hester's Crossing to Jarrell. b) My carnivorous partner's Fireball Udon with Shellfish blew him away. Temperature wise and aesthetic pleasure wise. He raved about how good his udon was all the way home. c) Service was instantaneous. I think there was some sort of event horizon distortion of the space time continuum that allowed them to prepare the food and then go back in time and deliver it within a minute of it being ordered. Both of us were impressed. d) The service staff was as nice as any human beings could possibly be. * * * Great food. Great service. The folks who live in the apartment complex that Miyo is in are very lucky people indeed. Either the apartments are lovely and they get Miyo on top of that. Or the apartments are terrible, but they can still spend all their time in Miyo to compensate. Seems like a fair trade. **************** If you read the other reviews, There seems to be some controversy about this establishment. Miyo has fans and Miyo has haters. * * * Here is my read on the conflicting opinions: a) Earlier in the restaurant's history - Say about 2016, 17, or 18, The restaurant was not very good at all. I think at that time it had another name. b) There was a name change and quality went up. Sometimes when this happens there is an ownership change (or there is an owner who swaps out the management and cooking team to put in new blood.) However, things got fixed, they got fixed. c) Miyo's yakitori is apparently still not where it needs to be. I am not a huge Yakitori fan. If your broiled meat on a stick is not $80 an ounce Wagyu, Or amazing organ meats grilled in the Caucasus Barded with lamb fat and with farm fresh vegetables On another skewer for serious taste contrast ... If you are not at that high level, I don't want to pay for meat on a skewer. There are people who DO like Yakitori. They do NOT like the Miyo versions of that. * * * Yakitori is less than 20% of Miyo's menu. The rest is sushi or wonderful cooked dishes. Lay off the skewer food and you can do well here.

Parking for the stores is a quick right turn after driving into the complex. Seating is available both indoors and outside on a shady deck. This is not a large restaurant, but the menu is extensive. Many items are a la carte, but there are also full meals with several included sides. A 2-page lunch menu is at the back of the main menu. We opted for edamame to start, a few skewers of yakitori, and 2 lunch special bento boxes. We were amazed by the amount of food in the lunch bento boxes. On top of that, everything tasted fresh and was obviously freshly prepared. My salmon was way overcooked but the tasty teriyaki sauce made up for it. My daughter's pork looked fabulous and she was very pleased with her choice. I thought that pricing was very reasonable given the quality and portion size. We ended up taking food home. We thoroughly enjoyed our extended lunch and would not hesitate to return.
