It was like I took a step into Japan, seeing the cherry blossom tree, and how detailed the decor was. The staff gave excellent recommendations, and they were very attentive to my party. The staff made sure our drinks were filled, plates were cleared off the tables, etc. Easy to say we were given the best service I have ever experienced in my life. I tried a number of plates, each very different from another. But all had so much detail in the presentation and the flavor! We started with sake, followed by shishito peppers, spicy edamame, sashimi Ayarot, sashimi trufado, mini hamburger trio, wagyu sandwiches, signature nigiris. The fish is very fresh, paired with excellent ingredients. My favorite order was the signature nigiris- when served, the waiter uses a blow torch to melt in each unique ingredient into the sashimi. For example, some of the sashimi were topped with foie gras and truffle. After such an amazing dinner, we had to check out their dessert menu. We ordered the Banana madness, and the KJ Cake. The desserts flavors were very unique and not too sweet. The banana madness was my favorite because it reminded me of Biscoff cookies. Needless to say there is a large variety of menu options to please everyone in your party. Yakuza is the most authentic Japanese and sushi restaurant in all of Yucatán. No other restaurant comes close to how delicious and exquisite the food and experience is, and how well the service staff treats you.

Service: incompetent. Food: "non-traditional" on all of the items; "reinventing" Japanese food in horrible tastes and horrible textures. This was an "Emperor's New Clothes" type of experience where we are to admire that the rice is tasteless, that the food has nothing "Japanese" about it. The head chef came over to get applause from us, since we were the only people foolish enough to eat here. He gave us his unsolicited explanation of his version of Japanese food. Pretentious, obnoxious, and annoying guy. The bad part is that I was really hungry. So I ate the horrible concoctions that passed for Japanese food. I ended up constipated: first time in my life.

Comfortable seating, great atmosphere and music. I went here just to have a couple beers and check the place out. Ordered some nigiri and sashimi to test the food, and it was just okay. The tuna was low quality and not fresh, the salmon was much better, and the toro (fatty tuna or belly) was okay but not what it should be. I asked for everything nigiri with the exception that the toro to be sashimi; they served me everything as sashimi... I didn't complain because the kitchen was about to close so I just ate it as it came. If the fish quality was better (basically had the tuna not had a fishy smell), and if they's served my order correctly, I'd have given 4 stars. It is definitely worth checking out for the atmosphere alone. The prices are fair for what it's worth and considering the open-air rooftop style dining. Service was friendly.
