Sushiholic is a great value for good sushi. I had lunch there today for $12.95 plus tax and tip which is very reasonable. That included: a shrimp tempura roll, a crunchy California roll, and two piece of tuna nigiri. Honestly you would pay way more at AJ's Fine Foods for lesser quality and certainly not freshly made. These were freshly made and tasty. Service was fast and solicitous. I was in and out in under 40 minutes which is great when you need to get back to work. They also have Bento box lunch specials for that same price which looked excellent as well. I believe these specials are dine in only. They also have a pretty good Happy hour which they reduce prices on several of their rolls and other items. Parking can be a bit of a challenge here. Lot is small and it fills up pretty fast. For having 900+ reviews and 4 1/2 stars I had higher expectations for this place.. Went here for dinner and got seated right away. We ordered 2 pc of salmon nigiri, 2 pc of tuna nigiri, California crunch roll, shrimp tempura roll, and tootsie roll. I am sad to say the nigiri was the WORST part. The pieces of tuna and salmon were TOOO thick. I know that sounds odd but I've just never had nigiri THAT thick it was gamey and hard to eat. The salmon I just couldn't finish. Super disappointing because nigiri is ALWAYS the best part of my meal when going to a sushi spot. As for the rolls.. they were all basically all California rolls, but made in different styles. There's literally not much difference from one roll to the next other than an ingredient added or crunch thrown on top. I don't recommend this place. After flight delays and hurricane winds on arrival at PHX, we drove through the soggy night to get here. We were greeted with a Happy Hour menu that looked enticing, but Rich and I both chose the #22 Sushiholic dinner. We were rewarded immediately with a piping hot bowl of miso that began to warm us from the inside. Salad and our sushi soon followed. The nigiri fish was very fresh, and my California roll was large and delicious! If I had one comment about our meal, it would be that the vinegar and oil salad dressing was a bit too tart--kind of blunted our taste, temporarily obscuring the flavors of the nigiri fish. A more traditional sesame based or miso dressing would solve this dilemma. A small price to pay for the comfortable sanctuary that Sushiholic provided during the historic storm. read more
