I had to come here just for the spicy tuna with crunchy rice.... why you would absolutely RUIN the dish by SMOTHERING it in oniony, pureed GUACAMOLE?! It wasn't a small dollop like their phots, and it's not just avocado, but poorly made Mexican style guacamole... With no option to remove it from what otherwise seemed to be a decent dish. Sushistop is nothing to write home about: it's decent, but this location was the best in LA in terms of quality of the actual sushi. I never felt super gross afterward or had to look at something and question whether I should eat it or not. I'm not ultra picky with my sushi, but I am generally sensitive and I used to come here when I was gluten and dairy free and never had any issues. The service was fast, the staff were friendly and the whole process is relatively straightforward. My partner is Japanese and VERY particular about sushi and still gave this place a thumbs up. It's decent if you're starving and need something quick but don't want fast food. You're not exactly paying for the quality like you would at another establishment, but if you're going to go with Sushistop, I definitely recommend this one over the Hollywood location. read more

Let's start to say how great the customer service was here, very attentive and friendly waiters. Overall the ambiance was great. Beautiful indoor space and some outdoor seating is available. I found parking on the street easily. We started with edamame, which was served hot, a seaweed salad I didn't like much, we ordered a few rolls The lemon roll was my most favorite I have to say. I ordered it twice. We also ordered a salmon roll, a tuna roll, tune poke hand rolls and a yuzu albacore roll. Everything tasted ok, I would say it's average sushi place but reasonably priced. We ordered the yellowtail collar didn't look very tasty poorly executed we sent it back. We received our sushi without fresh ginger and wasabi when I asked for it let's just say the waitress was not happy. Unfortunately a couple of us needed forks for the chicken bowl it took over 10 minutes to get the forks. When asked again we received so much attitude. The tuna rolls had a grey look to the tuna... somehow that didn't seem appealing. A wonderful place for a quality sushi fix! I love love love all of the SushiStop locations, and this one is no different. It's on Ventura in Studio City, not far from Laurel Canyon. I have a number of go-tos when I order or dine-in here. The salmon truffle hand roll, the Aburi salmon, the aburi trio, the yellowtail truffle hand roll, the 4-piece rolls... all so divine. At ~$45 for two, SushiStop has a lot of comparable places beat. I remember when each item on the menu was, like, $2.75! Those days are over, of course. The staff here are nice, but it seems to be a revolving door since the pandemic. I don't blame them, though, but remember to be patient with the staff who are getting into the swing of things. Parking in their tiny lot isn't great. You may need to opt for street parking or back parking, or else take your chance in the neighborhood. If I remember correctly, it's pretty busy and some areas are permit-only. Keep a careful eye out for those LA street signs! read more
