Went here for the first time today and dear lord, my sandwich was amazing! Had the Ronnie which they were able to make vegan for me. It was unreal and I can't wait to come back! Add more vegan options please, I want to try more!

Susie's is one of my favorite spots in Richmond for a sit down sandwich. The process is so easy - order your food, take a seat and they bring you your stuff. I try to sit outside as often as possible. It's something about the plants outside that really add to the vibe. Love love love! Also, I've never had a bad meal there. Ever!

Susie's is such a great lunch spot for us Sandwiches are large, so you're able to split them with someone. There's a turkey sandwich is my all-time favorite turkey sandwich.

The Susies' pastrami Rueben is amazing. Would highly recommend. Switching out the side to a salad is also worth it--delicious! Service is minimal contact and timely. Water stations set up around the premises. Ambiance is groovy, a chill 70's style cafe.

You don't think a deli would be the epitome of service, food, and vibes. But this place absolutely hits all the three criteria for the Yelp review with 5 starts in each single category. I can't say enough positive things about this place. I was in Richmond over Memorial Day Weekend with two girlfriends and we stopped here twice in 24 hours. I was recommended we check out this place from wine industry professionals, and I could tell my friends were a little suspect. I had to semi-convince them and I'm glad I did. First of all, we got SO incredibly lucky with the weather and we got to enjoy their magical patio. I feel like it's such a high-end place even though it's counter order and self service, and that's because of the service. The staff let me try wines, secure bottles when they weren't technically for bottle sales, and they brought me out hot sauce and sauerkraut (I saw someone else ask and did the same). The food here is amazing, the side salad with kale and watermelon radish had this lovely sesame dressing and their chicken schnitzel sandwich despite being fried was lovely. The highlight is the latke, I've never had one that was so crispy and fluffy and not oily. My friend actually ordered it twice. The Matzo Ball soup is also good - the broth is definitely flavorful and I did appreciate the size of the matzo. If you're a local, I'm so jealous, and if you're visiting, do not sleep on this amazing institution in the fan district. They do have a main seating area by the ordering counter, patio (but we're about to be in HOT summer) and a third large covered indoor dining area. We missed their spritz event, we even debating extending our stay to partake.

Got the Dede and a side salad! Great ambiance and decor. Wish it was alittle less expensive but good quality!

I pass this place all the time on my bike rides and I decided to finally give it a try and I was definitely satisfied. I ended up getting the Tony probably one of the best sandwiches I've had in a while. It was seasoned really well and packed with a lot of flavor. They also have a good selection of wines that you can choose from which I was really excited to try. We went pretty early and the only thing to consider is the parking because of the location it can get a little tight/crowded so that's something to keep in mind. Other this is definitely a cool sandwich shop to check out.

Recently had an absolutely yummy lunch trying out Susie's! It was a beautiful day & my boyfriend always loves trying different delis so we were thrilled to grab the last outdoor seat at Susie's patio. Inside decor is a total vibe but we couldn't pass us some sunshine. Boyfriend ordered at the counter. We split the potato latkes & pastrami Reuben. I can't say I've had many latkes but these were really fantastic. Seasoned and fried perfectly! We loved our experience here and will be coming back!

Richmond has these series of restaurants that feel like the cool kid group of restaurants. Susie's is on that unofficial list for me. My first time visiting was for their New Year's party. Bedspread Radio is one of my favorite DJ Duos in RVA and they were playing the new year show. Susie's is the ideal party venue. In my opinion, every incredible party venue has a bumping dance floor, a casual bar space, and an outdoor space with seating. Susie's has all of this and the vibe to match. I feel like I'm constantly keeping my eyes open for other events they have. I highly recommend going when they have music of any kind. I recently went for lunch with a friend and it was really yummy. You order up front and take a food number. We came around the lunch rush, so food took a really long time to come out. Thankfully, we weren't in too much of a rush that day. My friend ordered the Phillip sandwich which came out about 10 minute before my dish. There were a nice amount of vegetarian options for her. I got the Sharona. I loved the levantine ingredients they offered in their food! Parking can be a bit tougher to find on certain days, but it shouldn't take too long! They have a few gender neutral single stall bathrooms inside. They also offer a good variety of wines here. On new year's I was able to order a glass of orange wine. It's a huge space with lots of seating. I love the feeling of three different spaces within one. I highly recommend checking Susie's out for yummy food and great music events.

Enjoyed! I came here for a work happy hour. It's a cute space with a nice patio for Jewish food in the fan. Staff was accommodating and friendly to our growing group. I ordered a mocktail, matzo soup and latkes. Everything was so good, I appreciated the thick latkes!

Great vibe. Was here last week for Amaro Spritz night--there was a DJ outside and it was bustling. Service was great--inside and out. Such a friendly atmosphere. Our friends have had lunch here and highly recommend the sandwhiches. Nice ambience overall. We'll be back to eat.

I absolutely loved Susie's! It has been on my list to try for months now and I'm so glad I finally made it, and I will definitely be going back very soon! It was a mix of homemade traditional and cute and trendy. I got the seasonal tomato sandwich with halloumi on it, and it was out of this world! I highly suggest substituting your chips for fries, because these are some of the best fries I've had in Richmond! I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

This spot is too cute. The tile inside and the patio are so lovely. Also, the servers are equally wonderful. The first time I went the wait was loooooong. It was just over an hour to get our food after ordering. It was a bustling that Sunday at lunch. Second time was a Saturday lunch and there were maybe about 5 other full tables. We got our food within 15 minutes. So FYI, if it's packed expect a long wait. Although, it's worth it. As for the food, let me start off with whenever I see a reuben on the menu - I'm getting the reuben. It's awesome. The sauerkraut to meat ratio was perfect. I also really enjoyed the meals my friends ordered, which included the Dede, Tony, and Esther salad. The only thing I would change is adding half size sandwich options for all the sandwiches. Not that I won't eat these left overs.

We had the 1/2 Tony and the 1/2 Pastrami Reuben. Both were delicious and overflowing with meat. It does take a little bit to get the food (we ordered to go) but it was worth the wait. Will definitely be back. read more

It's like Perly's had a kid, sent them to VCU, and they opened a restaurant. The cauliflower appetizer was surprisingly good. The florets stayed crispy, the whipped feta, chilies, and pomegranate made an unexpectedly pleasant combo. The Reuben was well executed. The bread retained its sturdiness instead of the normal sponge like qualities you might find with other Reubens around town. The meat was melt in your mouth tender and every bite contained components of the sandwich, rather than the usual wrestling match of sliced meat in your mouth. The service was meh. It's counter service with sit down restaurant prices. Here's the funny thing: you are given a number for food to be delivered to your table. The waitress puts the food down on your table and directs you to a rolling cart where plates, napkins, etc. are BUT the waitress has to pass the rolling cart to bring you your food. Could we have not received appetizer plates and silverware when we checked out and were handed our drinks? I don't think anyone can get excited about Jason's Deli type service at lunch at Lemaire prices. If I had to choose a good time to suggest going to Susie's, go to Happy Hour on a sunny day and sit out on the patio read more

I didn't get the experience that some of these others got. I enjoyed my meal and experience just fine, but I wasn't blown away. I do like this spot, but maybe I just ordered the wrong thing? Maybe I went with the wrong person? I got the Dede (turkey and provolone). It was just a sandwich. A $15 sandwich with potato chips and a pickle. Maybe I'll try the $16 schnitzel and $13 latkes next time. read more

This is the cutest deli with food that lived up to the presentation. It is so clean, the staff were kind and honestly cool. The food is a modern twist on Jewish deli classics. Came on a Friday at 6pm - it was busy but still plenty of seating available. I ordered the pastrami Reuben which was AMAZING. It's huge and can easily be split between two people. My husband got the Tony and said it was really good, only minor complaint is he wished there was slightly more meat but besides that everything was incredible. Staff was super friendly and loved the decor and design of the place. Will definitely be back to try more menu items. read more

This might be my favorite spot in RVA. I lived on the latkes when I was pregnant and they are still my favorite thing. I love the sandwiches and salads and the place has a lot of seating with a great patio! Every staff member has always been friendly and helpful and the decor is super cute! read more

Came to Richmond for the weekend and ended up at Susie's TWICE because it was that good. My two friends and I came here for lunch after checking out the museum of fine art and Frida collection. We had amazing weather and so we were able to sit outside on the patio. We came in and ordered from the counter and the person taking our order was so helpful with both recommendations, but also allowed us to taste a few different wines before deciding what we wanted! I tried one of their orange wines and a pet nat, and both were awesome. I ordered the Rachel (turkey, swiss on rye) with a side salad and it was awesome! We also shared the latkes and they were particularly great. When I came back the following day, I was really craving the matzo ball soup, and it did not disappoint! Everyone who helped us was so friendly and welcoming. Susie's is a great spot! I highly recommend it and I will absolutely be back. read more

Honored to write Susie's first review on Yelp! When I heard this place was opening up in Richmond, I was STOKED. Growing up in Cleveland, I missed my hometown Jewish deli's - and this one brought me back home. The potato latkes were deliciously authentic and felt homemade - and the schnitzel and brisket sandwiches each packed a different kind of punch. The juicy-ness of the brisket and the perfect char on the toast for the schnitzel... ugh it was all delicious. I'll be going here for years to come. The space is wonderful and modern, plenty of seating, with some fun photos along the walls. It's just such a cute spot and the staff were all very friendly and excited to see us there. read more

Ok. Now that I have eaten here 3 separate times I honestly can say that the food, the drinks and the setting are all fabulous. Growing up in NY, Jewish deli food was something I truly enjoyed. Very cute little lunch spot. Order at the counter then get a number and sit. Not an over whelming amount of options which I can appreciate and you can tell they use good quality ingredients. One critique would be that the bread wasn't fully toasted on both sides of the sandwich (which seemed to be a theme for all three sandwiches). Super disappointed! Was excited to try a local spot and came around 2pm Saturday. Stumbled upon this cute place for lunch recently and WOW. We sat on the patio, enjoying impeccable vibes. We got the Ronnie and the Phillip sandwiches.. which were both so fresh and flavor-packed! You must get the fries, if only for the magic zhoug dipping sauce! Went back again a few days later and had the Tammy, which was just as yummy! We craved a bowl of soup on cold winter evening, after movie at Byrd. Our first time. Four of us sat and waited way too long for soup and sourdough bread. The bread finally showed up without soup . Bread was fridgerator cold. We asked if bread suppose to be cold and server replied for you want it warm? We said yes. Sitting a long while for warm bread and HOPEFULLY hot soup. This is a regular spot for the family and always popular to bring folks from out of town. The food is consistently good, I'd venture to say that they're constantly getting better. The staff and service is also great. They worked with me to modify the schnitzel sandwich to be chicken tenders at the behest of a 4 year old and really saved the day. read more

I got myself an egg and cheese sandwich on a buttermilk biscuit (delicious, by the way) with pepper jack cheese, veggies (tomato, lettuce, and avocado), and for a dollar extra, one of their vegan breakfast sausage patties. I was immediately impressed by how flavorful the patty was- you get a crispness upon the first bite and then the creaminess of the beans afterwards. It was absolutely incredible in a way I can't even describe. I also got the Thai iced coffee, which tasted as sweet as a typical Thai iced tea, yet in coffee form. I may only be spending a few days in Richmond, but I'm absolutely coming back next time I'm here to try more things. DIVINE! The woman behind the counter was super sweet too. The Vanilla Latte is one of the best I've had, and their breakfast sandwiches never miss. My husband and I absolutely love the vibe -- it feels like one of those cozy neighborhood cafés you see in the movies. The staff is always super friendly, and service is quick. And, DON'T skip dessert! Their Nutella Brownie = 10/10!

On the weekends they have a themed speakeasy with music. Just ask the staff about the location downstairs. The food was delicious. It was much better than our other Richmond Thai experience. From the amount of people dining and waiting this place appears to be a popular choice. Our group had the fresh spring rolls with choice of pork or shrimps and we chose shrimp. It was fresh made and included a tasty chili sauce. Thai basil and various noodle dishes were also eaten. Portions were generous and take out boxes left with us. My only tip is that you think hard before deciding to eat on the patios if it's cold and windy, the umbrellas will attempt to fly away. It can also get chili on a brisk day. No parking lot but plenty of street parking.
