After walking into a nicely furnished and modern looking restaurants we had a look at the menu and settled on chicken panang curry, beef flat noodle stir fry with a side of rice and roti. Once the coke out we realised we had not been skimped on the portion department they were HUGE! The panang curry is probably one of the best that I have tried and the noodles were the perfect ratio of noodle to sauce that they weren't to dry, nor drenched in sauce. One suggestion I do make if your going to order an curry, order two sides of rice since there is that much rice! Wish this place was in Sydney! It would be my favourite!

Service can be a bit spotty, but good overall. Like many places, they do tend to do a lot of take out and that sometimes takes priority over paying guests in the restaurant (one of my biggest pet peeves), but ... again ... the food is worth it. No matter what I order, they always get it right (and I do make a few substitutions). It's always hot and delicious and comforting. Their Tom Kha Gai soup is incredible. Sooooo good. I love their Chicken Fried Rice and the Chicken Massaman is really flavourful. BUT ... I could lay a bet down, that their Coconut Rice is the BEST in Melbourne. It's beyond delicious. I swear, I could just eat a bowl of that and nothing else and I'd be happy having it as my meal ;-) Thai Village is in a semi busy street (big supermarket across the road that brings in extra traffic), but parking isn't too bad. I would normally choose my usual Chicken Fried Rice, but I must say, the photo they've used in the menu is most unappealing, so I went for the Chicken Massaman instead. Beforehand, I ordered the Chicken Curry Puffs as they looked great in the picture. The curry puffs were delicious. A great start to the first time dining here. It did come out a bit slow, but then again, this restaurant (along with many like it) choose to look after their takeout orders first (which irks me very much). When it did come out eventually, they tasted as delicious as the photos showed them to be. The main meal came out VERY slowly and was actually quite irritating. My friend ordered the Lemon Chicken, which looked NOTHING like in the photo. The photo - and dish description - depicted crispy battered chicken, whereas what came out was soggy and almost mushy. I however got the Chicken Massaman and Coconut Rice, both of which were really good. I will say, the food here overall is very good and worthy of all of these positive reviews. It's reasonably priced and has a nice modern atmosphere. However ... I really wish restaurants looked after the patrons that are already inside BEFORE taking care of phone orders. I will be willing to try it here one more time, but if it's as slow as it was last week, that will be my last visit. I'd rather they tell someone on the phone to come down an extra 10 minutes later, than leave people inside watching order after order after order leave the restaurant while we go hungry.

The decor is lovely and the service was good. There was six of us, and each of us enjoyed what we ordered. Everything went right (other than forgetting one side dish of coconut rice which came out promptly after reminding them), and otherwise it was a good experience. I got curry puffs and chew chee salmon, and both were scrumptious. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here again. You do need to search for it, as it's in a shopping complex and tucked in towards the back, but it's worth giving it a go. And once you're done eating, especially in summer, just take a minute stroll to the lake front where it's just beautiful and serene. Definitely come here if you're in the area ... or if you too have friends that live closer to it than you do, but it's a hike. It's truly worth it.

And in 2015 a new owner has kept the same successful menu, but undertook a complete stylish refurb that opened up the space and populate it with dark-woods furniture and beautiful Thai ornaments.
