This was a very unique restaurant. It was inside a mall and you order and they will call out your name when ready. The food was delicious though I got blackened shrimp and it came over rice filled with chicken and sausage along with about 7 or eight blackened shrimp. They do only have canned drinks and carve a small charge to use a credit card read more

Amazing delicious! Food has "a kick" and it's so good! We had the blackened shrimp and it had no shell and nice spicy flavor. The fried ribs were a hit with the whole family. I've never been to Louisiana to taste the Cajun but I imagine it's similar to swamp daddy's. This is not a fancy place .. plastic wear and paper products ~ but who cares. The food is fresh and done to order. The blackened shrimps creamy sauce, could stand alone as a meal ... the jambalaya has amazing flavor and the perfect spicy kick. You want cat fish. Here you go. Plenty of seating in the Jones building and a nice outdoor patio to relax and dine on, in the warm South Dakota months. The only complaint I have is the hours. Swamp Daddy's is a personal lunchtime favorite of mine. The Cajun menu is authentic, you can take it as hot and spicy as you like, but don't be discouraged if that's not your style. There are options that bring full flavor without the scorch factor. Personal favorites are the Cajun Chicken Pasta and the Jambalaya. The venue itself is basically a walk-up but there are good places to sit in the common area between the shops and you can always take it outside during warm months. The service is always first-rate. You're usually helped by the owner or someone from the family, so questions are welcome and their suggestions are spot-on. They make it fun to experiment and try something new. Swamp Daddy's doesn't serve alcohol, just cans of pop, but the very-nearby taproom/coffee roastery The Source can care for any beverage needs you might have over and above a soda. Only based on one experience, but I'm an out of towner and always rely on yelp. This is in a common market with indoor and outdoor tables with good free wifi. The shrimp and catfish tacos were enjoyable. Just a tad of spice, but still flavorful. Tortillas and salsa were fresh and good. Only two people working on a Tuesday at lunch, but I'm sure they're trying to figure out and survive the pandemic, so I don't want to knock them on this. I'd come back for sure. read more

Came with high expectations for Cajun food. A lovely night out on the patio in front of the restaurant before a concert across the street. Ordered red snapper-one if my favorites! You need to order "to go" if you sit out on the patio, but they say they will bring the food out to you. We waited 40 minutes while our friends ate food from another of the nearby restaurants and left for the concert. A waitress then came to tell us that they were out of red snapper and would I accept a blackened catfish instead. She did NOT bring my friend's meal. Another 20 or so minutes and she brought our meals. For $20 or so, I received a box with a small flattened piece of cornbread and catfish. I scraped the blackened seasonings on the catfish-they were wet and the fish was RAW. It could not have even been on a grill...it had the silver wet color of raw fish all through...not even the edges were cooked. I took the food BACK into the restaurant and requested my money back for everything. The owner came after several minutes of more waiting. He said he was sorry-that the fish was not cooked-that the problem had been that they had delivered our meal to the wrong people and "they would not give it back". He was sorry and that's all he could do. STILL, I had to wait at least 10-15 mor minutes before the waitress "figured out" how to refund my money. Very disappointing. I did receive a small gift card for less than the cost of my meal, but I will not be returning. read more

Hoping this can be used as constructive criticism. I am from the gulf coast and moved to Sioux Falls. We went to Swamp Daddy's the other night and had the jambalaya and shrimp basket. While these are your typical Cajun meals, they did not contain any seasonings or flavor you would expect from a Cajun meal. No flavor in the jambalaya or the shrimp seasoning. I would assume the sausage used in the jambalaya is andouille sausage; however, the sausage did not contain any flavor close to andouille flavor. Please use seasoning in your food!!!! read more

This spot is an absolute must!! Great food and the best customer service! Heather was amazing, we were just looking for a snack and stumbled into this place. It was 854pm they close at 9pm and Heather was soooo inviting and even though she was about to close, she still offered to cook anything for us. We told her we wana see what else there is around the building before we decide what to eat. She said come back within 6 mins and she'll make whatever we want. We walked to the pizza place, there was about 5 employees just finishing there closing duties and we asked if they were open, they all looked at us and 1 girl said NOOO instantly. We knew they closed at 9 but we could tell they were nothing like Heather! So we went back to Swamp Daddy's and she gave us the details on all the food and we ordered and it was bomb.com! And it was just Heather running the show, ordered with her, she cooked, she cleaned, she gave us the best service and amazing delicious food! We had catfish and shrimp basket with fries and hushpuppies and jambalaya and all the dipping sauces! Sooo delicious and we'll for-sure be going back. The Essentials: Food Made Fast and Fresh Clean Environment Served Hot Great Service Appreciable Ambiance and Environment Locally Owned Generous Portions Delicious food conveniently tucked away in the newly renovated and historical Jones421 building. I popped into Swap Daddy's Cajun Kitchen for a weekday lunch and was not disappointed. Immediately upon walking into the dining area I was greeted by the owner herself (taking orders nonetheless!) in a French Quarter inspired dining area loaded with vibrant colors and traditional Mardi Gras decor. Following Inkka's, the owners, suggestion I ordered the blackened shrimp in a butter sauce with a side of jambalaya and crisp french bread. My food came out quickly and was made fresh to order. The dining area and kitchen are separated only by a service counter so I was able to see the friendly and family oriented staff preparing my order in a positive and clean environment. It was served, conveniently, in a reusable to-go container (much needed for my ample left overs from the generous portion sizes). The first bite reminded me of the days I spent in New Orleans with a balanced flavor combination. The flavors and spices were inspired, complimentary to one another and thoughtfully put together. Each bite contained hand diced spices you could see for a truly authentic feel. It was a well crafted and executed dish that had just the right harmony of home cooking and chef creation. I have to admit I was a little leery about eating seafood in November in the Midwest, but yet again Swamp Daddy's did not disappoint. The shrimp was fresh and cooked perfectly. The owner took a moment to introduce herself, check in on my meal and even wipe a few tables down. When the owner invited me back she mentioned each menu item is made fresh each day with no measurement of spices just experience, love and variety. Today, the spices were spot on! Not too spicy, not too bland and not too salty. Customer service was great. Friendly, helpful in deciding what order, and jovial. The ambiance was great as well. From the vibrant colors to the artwork, masks and beads it had the feel of a small family run cafe right off a New Orleans walkway. I had shrimp with Jambalaya and it didn't disappoint. If I had to give it a con or two it would be that I didn't find the jambalaya spiced or spicy should I say, enough for my taste. I put extra hot sauce on it and it still was just enough. I would have liked to see larger bits of peppers and sausage in it to really have that homemade rustic right off the bayou feel, but don't get me wrong, it was delicious and there was plenty of it. Soft rice, sliced sausage peices and what appeared to be shredded chicken. Mix that into the sauce that topped the shrimp and it was a win for me. Now the sauce. Salty. Good, but it was hard to ignore the salt. The crisped fry bread that was served with it came in handy to cut the saltiness when soaking up the sauce. The shrimp was just the right amount and burst when bit into. It was very very good. The food was cooked in front of you and was not rushed. I will definitely be back to knock some more off their extensive menu of goodies. If I could see anything added it would be more New Orleans, Louisiana focused desserts or drinks. For about a year I herd nothing but awesome stuff and I was excited to try it out. My mom had gone and got the catfish and she said it was amazing. We decided to get take out one night and called ahead so I wouldn't have to wait so long. They opened at like 530 and I called at like 515 and they asked me what time I would be there and I said 20 minutes they said ok. I got there right when it opened and respectfully waited an extra five minutes because they were already so busy. It was a nightmare to watch them. They Only had spoons for utensils, there was only two people working. I got up to the register and gave them my name for the Togo order. They never took my order when I called it in. I was pissed off because i waited in this long line only to find out they never took my order. They were struggling to push out food and I waited and waited. I got there at 535 and did not leave until after 6. They made the food and yet it was a complete disaster. The fires were cold and soggy and after waiting a total of 55 minutes for a Togo order I was hoping for one saving grace and just did not find it here. The catfish was mediocre and tasted like it sat in oil but the one thing that managed to be good was the catfish tacos. Their Jambalaya looked like dog vomit and the rice was terribly overcooked. Basically mush. I told the staff that I had waited for a very long time and no one seemed to care so I dont care to return. I wish I could give this place a second chance but I would have to find my appetite first. read more
