However, I don't know if I caught someone in a bad mood or 5 minutes before closing, but when I went to drop off clothing to the good cause, I was greeted with a scowl, a door slam and not even a thank you. Absolutely terrible, it also made me want to take back what I had given away and give it to another charity like the Cancer Research UK up the street. I should have if had I not been in shock from the rudest encounter I have ever experienced in the least likely place, a charity shop. It doesn't matter where you work, but customer service is customer service.

Marie Curie, however, perhaps due to its size, has more than the average charity shop. The ornaments shelf, as someone else mentioned, is a treasure trove. Great place for cheap photo frames, and the books shelf is packed tight. I bought a very nice, young T shirt, perfect size, for £2. Now, you have to be happy with that don't you?!

Shamahs the owner has written many a books about the simple things in life about happiness and mindfulness and his energy and passion really shines through.. His impromptu meditation in the ball pit was so much fun and I couldn't imagine a more energetic and funny host... I loved it! I also know they do other activities that relaxes the mind and soul and I totally recommend a visit..

Wow, what a wonderful pleasant experience…read more We did a UYC event here after work. They had a ball pit! (I think the last time I was in a ball pit was when I was 10!...it a very interesting and different experience when you're a little bit older ;-) So we chilled in the ball pit for about 15 minutes. Surprisingly it was very relaxing...I was contemplating on getting one for home to read in...it's amazingly comfortable. The guy who runs it seems to always be laughing...so jealous of his job! He made the experience SO much more fun (otherwise I would have only given 4 stars). He got us to start a ball fight, do some ball meditation and even sinking to the bottom under the balls, and then jump out for an awesome photo scene ;-) I would completely recommend this experience at anytime. Threw yourself into it, laugh, be happy and just enjoy the 15 minute experience..it'll take all the stress of the week off your shoulders.

Staff here are lovely and very patient. The upmost security and care is given here and you can be sure your kids are happy and safe.

Carers of Bromley is a charity that focuses primarily on the needs of the carer, as opposed to the person requiring care, and are a really useful source of information for everything from benefits to support services and beyond. They are funded in part by Bromley Local authority, so have good relations with departments there too. Although I've never used the support groups, I've found the short term sitters list extremely helpful and they even provide a limited volunteer service for the odd whole day off. In short, if this charity is relevant to you, you have nothing to lose from contacting them.

TearFund is a large Christian charity with an international anti-poverty agenda. Most if not all of their work is undertaken in less developed countries. They're a large charity, raising over £63m in 2007/2008. However despite their size I don't think many people have heard of them -- largely because a lot of their fund-raising is done through local churches, typically evangelical ones (I think the 'tear' bit originally stood for The Evangleical Alliance Relief fund). More information is available from their website (see link above) but TearFund is a very worthy cause and certainly one that enjoys our unreserved support.

The new Queen Marys hospital was built to replace the old one next to it where my son was born…read more22yrs ago (gosh that makes me feel old lol). It has been in use a few years now & is a nice modern structure all shiny & new with lots of glass. There is a car park next to it with easy access to the hospital via ramps & covered walkways, no stairs so easy for wheelchairs. The inside is nicely decorated, clean & shiny & all the toilets are lovely & clean. There are cafes, coffee shops, various drinks & food machines & lots of free water dispensers everywhere. It is very child friendly with a kids play area in most departments. There are lots of friendly staff around if you need help or directions.
