I checked the Nest footage - he approached the door after going to his vehicle, yanked on the handle the wrong way, and locked himself out. The experience was extremely disappointing. The technician arrived and spent a significant amount of time on the phone with someone else trying to figure out where the system could be installed. During the call, he became visibly frustrated and was cursing. When he came back inside, he tracked dirt onto my floors and carpet. After some time, he informed me that the only possible installation location was in the middle of my living room. I explained that such a placement would require discussion with my wife before making a decision. He left, and I never received any follow-up communication from the company. The biggest surprise came two weeks later when they contacted me demanding a $250 visit fee. At no point before the appointment was I informed that there would be any charge for the visit. Had I known about this fee in advance, I could have made an informed decision. Poor communication, unprofessional conduct, and unexpected charges made this one of the worst service experiences I've had. I would not recommend this company. read more

Install was fine, however, they neglected to tell me when walking around outside that the house and asking where to install that the fan would be making noise constantly, and they put it right outside the bedroom window, not suggesting the end of the house were we didn't all sleep! Just know, these guys DON NOT DO ELECTRICAL, so you may end up with a unit installed away from a plug or junction box and no power to the unit. Interestingly enough, I was referred here by my brother in-law who had electrical installed in his unit. After taking two personal days only to be rescheduled for a 3rd time, i was not able to attend the installation. Wife is 5 months pregnant, electricians are booked solid due to covid and we still have no working unit. Save your money, call a local mitigation company and make sure they finish the job. read more

Installation personnel did not wear a mask in my home, even after it was requested. I never write bad reviews I don't like the bad karma but if I can help just one other person not get ripped off by this company then I feel I am passing along goodness not ill-will. They have high pressure sales people on the first call get you to schedule appointment. Then a tech shows up at your house tells you the quote you got on the phone wasn't even close to what it will cost and they try to bully you into the higher quote and then they leave without doing the work charinging you $200 visit fee just for the pleasure of dealing with someone who can't and won't help you! I then called and emailed everyone at the company I could find for weeks trying to talk anyone about disputing the bill and they never returned my calls or emails. Then they treatned to send me to collections if I don't pay their visit fee even though they were the ones that didn't want to do the work they offered to do for me. I bought my mom a radon test kit for her home in Atlanta where she stays 8 months of the year. She has already undergone 3 surgeries on her lungs so after I heard about radon causing lung cancer, I wanted her to check the house. The results were about 6, which is 2 points over the state limit. I called a few companies that claim to "fix radon problems" but most of them never returned my calls. Then I found the company SWAT Environmental on the internet and their website said they specialize in fixing radon in homes. I called them on a Monday (they gave me an estimate that day, which was very reasonable) and they installed an extraction system the next day. I was very happy with the customer service and timeliness that SWAT provided. The installation was very neat and clean, and the system seems to be working great. My mom bought a digital radon detector on Amazon and it consistently shows low levels or no radon in the basement, so she is extremely pleased! read more

During my home inspection prior to closing on my house, I discovered that the radon levels in my future basement were far higher than expected. I was told by my mortgage company that I needed to have a mitigation system in place prior to closing on my house. This put me in sheer panic mode because my closing date was quickly approaching! I called a few companies, but when I called SWAT, Becky answered my call and was so much more knowledgable and courteous than any other company I called. To me, customer service is so important and Becky was INCREDIBLE. The day of installation, one technician came initially, and then two more came to help. They worked efficiently, checked in with me about pipe placement, and before leaving, they made sure to walk me through the system and did not leave until all of my questions were answered (and yes, I'm the type of person that asks way too many questions!) I appreciated their guarantee (which is part of the contract) that your radon level will decrease to below 4pCl or they will come in and fix it. After I retested my basement, the radon level was below 0.4pCL! I would, without a doubt, recommend S.W.A.T.'s services to any of my friends and family! We had a great experience with our home inspector when we bought our home in Peabody. He left a radon test kit behind and the results came back just above average, so we knew we needed to take care of it. He recommended SWAT and they were WONDERFUL! They were easy to reach, candid, explained everything, and there was even a summer promotion for the installation of the system so we were able to save a bit of money. Since our house is older/historic, before installing they sent Tom out to take a look and determine where the best place would be, and how to do the least damage to the aesthetic. He was the same person assigned to the installation job a couple weeks after he'd done a walkthrough. He came at 1 and was out around 5:30 or so, and he did a beautiful job. It was clean and as unobtrusive (inside and outside) as possible (I actually didn't even notice it at first when I came down the driveway!). He explained how it all worked for my husband who worked from home to let him in and was very kind and professional. Would definitely recommend to any home-buyer with radon issues. I recently had a Radon Mitigation System installed in my house by S.W.A.T. Environmental because the radon levels in my basement were above 4pCi/L (4 Pico curies per liter). When the technician arrived, I expected to see the individual who provided me with the Radon Mitigation System proposal and resume of qualifications. However, to my surprise, it was a technician with unknown credentials. Less than 20 hours after the installation, the seal around the PVC pipe in collection chamber failed. I called S.W.A.T. Service to have them repair the problem. They indicated that according to the warranty it was my responsibility to re-seal or touch-up the caulking. I was told that they would mail me a tube of caulking within 3 days so I could fix the problem. They also said that I should not of had the system running while the caulk was drying. The fact is that their Technician turned on the system. I was never given any instructions, written or verbal, to turn the system off (and keep it off) until the caulking could dry. So the seal breaks in less than 20hrs, I get blamed for the problem and then I am told it is my responsibility to fix it. I can understand re-sealing or touching-up the caulking after a few weeks/months, but less than 20hrs, lets be realistic. I did get a 5.5 fluid ounce tube of caulking 3 days after calling. The caulking around the collection chamber and sewer clean-out cover was slapped on in globs without any care for aesthetics. I was disappointed because I was in the process of selling my house. Just for the record, there were several smaller cracks in the floor but I was told they were small enough not to require caulking. I also had to remind the technician to caulk the sewer clean-out cover before leaving. As part of this installation, I was to receive "A post-mitigation radon test to confirm radon removal". The technician indicated that he did not have any tests left on the truck. He said that one would be mailed to me in a few days. After day number three, I decided that I had better followup with an email just in case. I got a fairly quick response thanking me for my followup. I was told that a kit would be sent out that day. I got the test kit on the fourth day after my followup email. A week after the initial installation. I did find a video of a S.W.A.T. Radon Mitigation System install (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdwE9ZY3sXI ) on Youtube. The installation on the video far exceeded my experience with the company. Again, I was very disappointed and would like to point out a few examples that caught my attention: -The PVC fan/vent pipe that comes out of my house is at an angle and seems a few inches too long. In the video it is a perfect 90 degrees to the house and exact length. -The fan for my system is turned on/off by plugging/unplugging a cord into an outlet. In the video it is switched based. -The PVC pipe going into the collection chamber for my system goes straight up to the cellar ceiling from a hole 24 inches from one wall and 15 inches from another. In the video the PVC pipe is about 12 inches from each wall but feeds back to the wall/corner before going up to the ceiling. -The PVC pipe for my collection chamber was caulked in globs about 1 inch thick. In the video the PVC pipe was fitted with a gasket and the use of caulk was minimal. -All the caulking in my system (around the sewer clean-out cover, PVC vent pipe and electrical) was also done in globs about one inch thick. In the video the technician actually brushed his finger around all caulked surfaces making them smooth, uniform and less obtrusive. This system cost me over $1200. I would of expected better service from a company/individual that appeared to have all the appropriate credentials/experience and "company website" reviews. read more

Setting an appointment was a nightmare and they kept texting and emailing me to try and change it after I had talked to someone about a specific date. Outside he could have routed the pipe to look like a clean professional job, but it looks like garbage. Spoke to the owner and he will not send a truck to do a 15 minute fix without a charging me $200. A simple fix that I have to do myself for cheaper than having the Technician do it. RUN away from this place! I was selling a home that came back with high radon levels. I spoke with JJ and he sold me a system. When the techs arrived to install the system they told the renter/buyer that they couldn't enter the home with radon levels this high and needed respirators. They proceeded to frighten the prospective buyers to the point they wanted to move out. In speaking with JJ he just defended his tech and offered a refund. I took it and called around. I found quite a few companies that were used to radon levels like we have and they were VERY calm and confident they could solve the problem WITHOUT the need to scare my buyers. This place is unprofessional and ill equipped to handle radon beyond "normal" high levels. I was very disappointed in my experience with SWAT BEYOND BELIEF! After my call to cancel I got a call from the woman (Ashley??) who explained there would be a fee involved. I told her I didn't want to pay it. She continued to argue with me then threatened me to report my house to some agency about high radon levels! Can you believe these people??? There was no need for this. read more
