I really like the store the service and the staff are very friendly. Some of the items are priced pretty high, but after you figure out exchange and transportation. Welcome to Candy Heaven. My first time here but wow it has candy combinations like never seen in a regular convenience store. Be aware that due to possible import from around the world it may be pricey. Candy from my childhood and maybe yours can be found here. There is plenty of variety candies and Soda drinks too. I believe I also seen they have a cotton Candy machine of their own that they make. Would definitely recommend anyone with a sweet tooth to check this place out with friends or family to bring that nostalgia back. We hit the Mother Load at Sweet Convenience! I was a little confused by their assortment of 'extras' hats, mugs, but if your looking for nostalgic cereal from when you were a kid like Cocoa Pebbles, you need to replace a coffee mug and buy a hat to keep the sun out of your eyes then I suppose this store is true to its word. convenient indeed! I am told these curio items are supplied by local artists & entrepreneurs. A locally owned business, 2 sisters were mentioned when I popped in, one of which was asking browsers if they needed assistance while tending their till. Great news, I filled our Taffy quota .12 a piece ! YAY!! Cool flavours my seven year old will be thrilled! The store is large & Jammed with hard to find, and unique confection options. Some items are quite pricey. There is a large selection of moderately priced treats and treasures for anyone's budget. The store is a little dim ~ would love to see these treats LIT UP! YES! YES! YES! People let me tell you how excited I am that this store exists. I spent a couple of years (well almost a couple) living in Ireland and I got addicted to something called a Boost Bar. No, it's not the "health" boost bar that you've probably seen at your grocery store. Boost is a chocolate bar in Ireland/UK. It's basically like a Wunderbar, but instead of the peanut butter part that's like a chocolatey fudge. It's so dang good and I was so sad to not eat this chocolate bar at home. That's until my friend and I came to Sweet Convenience ( she was looking for some sugar free stuff). They have a variety of different chocolate bars, candies, chips, snacky foods. There's a good variety of stuff from the US (I picked up some instant grits, which are impossible to find here), plus a salted caramel kit kat (hell yeah), and some dill pickle mints. Well they look like mints, but they're not mint flavoured. They're like candies and they taste like you licked the flavour of a dill pickle chip. They also have several British/Irish candies and chocolate bars too (that's where I got my Boost Bars). And I think we saw some Japanese candies. Plus there is a bulk section and they got a great selection of salt water taffy. For people who are diabetic and can't have sugar (or are trying to cut sugar out) they've got a little section for you too. I'm beyond stoked that this place has Boost Bars and I don't have to fly all the way to Dublin to get them. I mean I want to go back to Dublin again, but that's a pricey flight just for some candy. Since the stuff here is imported it's more expensive than just buying a regular chocolate bar or snack, but if you're looking from something different or a little less common definitely come check out Sweet Convenience. The only thing I wish they carried that I couldn't find were Toffee Crisps, the Tiffin Dairy Milk bar, and maybe some Cheese and Onion and Prawn Cocktails chips/crisps (they didn't really have any chips/crisps). There American treat selection is definitely the largest, but it's great that they have some Irish/UK treats too. I didn't realize Sweet Convenience has a 10% coupon on Yelp, so that just means I have to go back and buy more delicious Boost Bars. I swear I'm not addicted...even if it looks that way. read more

I went to a trade show where they had a table set up. After seeing the treats they had available there I knew I had to come visit the actual store. If I had to rename the place it would definitely be called a sugar addicts dreamland. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and it seemed there was a steady stream of customers. I probably spent about 15-20mins perusing the isles. I Iove little shop like this where there's something fun and unique around every. I picked up a few cool treats for myself and my kid picked a couple for him. All in all I had a great time. Unlike other reviews I found the staff friendly enough. And yes some things may have been over priced but when you take in consideration the cost of imports with the value of the Canadian dollar and the overhead costs of owning a store the prices definitely seem more reasonable. And also don't forget supporting local entrepreneurs is priceless. read more

Hidden gem! Don't forget to use your 10%coupon here. So many treats that you can only get in the States. The staff are wonderful. If you are looking for something and they don't have it they will try to get it in for you. They also support local businesses and always have kid friendly party days and some days they give away free popcorn! So many in store made cotton candy flavours! I love getting my friends and family's gifts from here as well. Also if you love pumpkin spice like I do they have so many pumpkin spice stuff from coffee to cake mix all year around! Great place to find hard to find sodas/ candy. I bought a case of Hires root beer that I have not had since the late 1990s. It is expensive, but the owner has to make living, right? The only negative things that I will say however is that the owner seems misinformed about some of the products people want. She told a relative of mine that Jolt Cola was taken off the market. I bought it a few months ago at another place with no problems. She also does not seem comfortable around some people. I am a large guy, and a person of colour. When I went to her store for the first few times, she acted like she was afraid of me, sighing heavily when I left. It is ok. I don't like to say places are terrible. Because it wasn't. It satisfies a need for snacks and treats that aren't readily available in Canada. There is a decent selection of candies, sodas, and salty snacks. I was there on a Sunday. There was a slush machine but it was not in operations. Cherry and vanilla Cokes and the like sold individually or in cases. There were Pop Tart flavours of my dreams like watermelon. The downside is the prices, understand it is going to cost more than just your average trip to the 7-Eleven. A bag of Funyons which in normal circumstances is under $2 will cost you $5. My blood glucose level rises just thinking about this place. I came in here to conduct research for a new candy-themed playlist I'm working on for my eyePhone. Their selection of U.S.-exclusive breakfast cereals and chocolate bars remind me of the occasional cross-border shopping my family would do when I was a kid. I would be so excited about seeing products that I had seen advertised in comic books or on American TV stations but weren't available on Canadian grocery store shelves. My affinity for Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch continues to this day. So needless to say, I got a lot of warm fuzzies by checking out the stock at Sweet Convenience. They have a few selections of soft drinks such as Cherry Coke that aren't usually sold in Canadian stores. Be warned: they also sell the soft drinks made with "real sugar," another Americanism. Guess what?--in Canada, all soft drinks are made with real sugar. The high-fructose corn syrup that Americans substitute for sugar isn't as plentiful here. So if you buy American Pepsi with "real sugar" you're getting the same as a Canadian Pepsi for double the price--just so you know. What didn't give me warm fuzzies were the prices. The cereal is $10 a box and a bag of M&Ms is $12. If I didn't have a Groupon I wouldn't have come in. (Well, I would have come in for the warm fuzzies and playlist research but I wouldn't have bought anything.) The Groupon doesn't cover the soft drinks, by the way. I had to pay regular price for my stash of HFCS-addled Cherry Coke ($1.69 a can). Yes, they are expensive but what alternative is there if you like U.S. sweets? There are several online shops that specialize in exporting American junk food but after you pay for shipping and give the customs mafia their cut, it still costs an arm and a leg. And with the state of the Canadian peso right now it isn't worth it to order online. Sweet Convenience is a fun place to look around but don't go in when you're hungry or feeling hypoglycemic. I overlooked this place several times, thinking it was just a convenience store. But it is far, far more than just a convenience store: it is Sweet Convenience! It has some typical convenience store kinds of things, but that's not the real reason to visit. That would be to savour all of the unique kinds of pop, and American candies and cereals. There are shelves full of candies you can't find here, including a whole section of movie boxes. Speaking of boxes, there are many containing sugary American goodness for $10 each - that isn't too bad, considering most of the cereals were large sizes. There is pop in flavours including ranch and bacon - not my kind of thing but I am sure a must for someone who thinks they need to try everything. The owner has a great selection of things that you won't find in Canada. This includes Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING during the season! If you are looking for those US chocolate bars that are hard to find, she has them. If you are looking for the sugary cereals that you can't find in Canada, she has them. If you have a special request, she will keep her eyes open for you and try to get it in. I liked the candies/pops etc that I found here and bought some treats....however when I came in, the cashier was kind of snotty. I asked a question and she replied with "I have no idea, I just got back from vacation"...did she look anything up? Ask if I needed/wanted anything else? Nope. Forget small talk when I paid for my purchase, she was just cold. Would I want to return? Yes, for the candy - No, for the service. A few months ago I contacted their Facebook page, on trying to get my hands on a specific product that my Girlfriend loves. I wanted to surprise her with for her birthday. I found quite a bit of neat finds...fruity pebbles, Tahiti treat and lots of neat candy, so that aspect is really cool. Prices were up there but I expected it given the wide range of selections we can't normally find here. However I will echo the sentiments of another reviewer, the snark from the woman working there, completely mind boggling. My husband inquired about a product, then mentioned something along the lines of "seems like a tough product to find." It was really bizarre, the woman snapped loudly "WHEN THE SUPPLIER DOESN'T HAVE IT WE DON'T GET IT THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO" just really out of nowhere. My husband kind of said "oh no, not blaming you, just an observation" and then after that she stopped talking, no have a good day, no do you need a bag, nothing. I was so excited to hear about a local convenience store in Edmonton selling American treats! However, after visiting here and seeing the prices, I can definitely wait until my next trip to the states. Cases of pop are $20 each, chocolate bars are $3, and a bag of Oreos is $13. Jeff G. nailed it right on the head when he talked about how neat it is to be able to try all the cereals and treats you always wanted as a child but were told the advertisement is from the states and we don't get it here. They carry a ton of varieties of sodas,chocolate bars,cake mixes,cereals,and cookies here. I did notice they don't have alot of stock on the shelves of each item however. This could be because of the limited space on the shelves and im sure they carry back stock but I still recommend coming in a.s.a.p if they have what you want just so you don't miss out. I had called about the special edition white fudge oreos and was told they had quite a few left but by the time I was actually able to make it into store there were only two boxes left sitting there. Yes it is definetly pricey but I think so long as your not stopping here everyday it's hard to put a price on childhood nostalgia and people need to realize your going to pay a markup on hard to find items from out of the country. What a little gem of a store. My wife dragged me out to go see this store that sells American stuff. I rolled my eyes and grudgingly went along. As soon as I got in there on the other hand it was like going over that U.S. border. I ended up buying about $40 worth of junk food that you can't find here in Canada. I have been to this store several times. Yes prices are high and I understand as to why, however they are def marked up much higher than they should be. My reason for the low rating is that in the 5 times I have purchased, all 5 times have been $100-$150 dollars each time, not a hello, not a can I help you, not a can I put that on the counter for you, can I get a basket for you? Since most of the items are not labelled with prices, asking how much an item cost was like pulling teeth, it was usually ignored with the person sitting behind the counter with her head down on her phone. I def agree with a previous posters comment of the customer service or more like lack of as being "cold" I also follow them on IG and have several times asked about product information, never have I received an answer in return. Yes the prices are higher. But guess what that's American stuff. There are 2 or 3 other places in the city with American stuff, you're more than welcome to check those places out. But this is a family run store. The owner and her sister are there everyday. They are awesome ladies. They don't pressure you into sales, they just let you browse at your leisure.
