Had a cake tasting set up. Their "butter cream" left a disgusting residue on my tongue and mouth…read more The butter cream was way too sweet and you couldn't distinguish flavors. It all tasted the same. Too loose consistency. The "butter cream" tasted like it was made of Crisco. It was terrible. Chocolate frosting was terrible and their "fillings" weren't that. It was the same terrible "butter cream". The cake was way too dry. Couldn't even cut it without it falling apart into a massive pile of crumbs. It was hard to get down. The vanilla tasted like an overly eggy, super cheap box mix. Fake vanilla flavor. It was the worse tasting vanilla cake I have ever tasted. Even my dad hated it and he loves cake. It was so bad I wanted to teach them how to make a cake. Give them some tips and pointers. I mean. How hard is it to go on Pinterest and watch YouTube videos!?! Then maybe they will learn how to do a cake. The chocolate cake was a basic meh cake. The spiced cake was ok. But again the crumb was terrible. It was like eating sand. The only saving Grace was the pumpkin cake. It was underbaked, but it was at least edible and enjoyable.... Until we paired with the frosting. And then it was ruined. I was in tears at the thought of this bakery being our only option for our wedding. We already wasted $25 for a tasting. Luckily we pushed back the wedding now have proper time to look for a bakery who does cakes from scratch and not from boxer mix. I won't have to worry about anyone getting sick because of the Crisco and sugar paste. Or having someone inhale the crumbs and I have to do CPR at the wedding.

Stopped by just to try a cupcake. Had the red velvet one and while it was good, I think I was just…read moreexpecting a bit richer flavor. They also have gelato which looked amazing but that will have to wait till I go back to the area.

First off, the food that I tried was 5 stars. I'll get to that. The 4 stars is based on the entire…read moreexperience, which wasn't bad at all, it could just be improved upon. Besides their current posted hours, they have also been doing a Fish Fry on Friday evenings. That is what I went for. You probably want to call before to make sure they are doing it. There was rain the evening I visited and their outside set up was blown over, so they were a bit behind, they explained. That could be why they were a bit hectic with the service. I was with a group of 5 and the space inside is a bit small, but not terrible. There is a mishmash of chairs and tables (ours wobbled) but it works okay. I've tried their cinnamon rolls before, and they are AMAZING so I knew they knew what they were doing. I ordered the regular fish plate ($10). It has several pieces of fish, coleslaw, baked beans, french fries, hush puppies and a drink! Their portions are good for the price. The fish was very well prepared. I was surprised how nice those fried fish looked and tasted. The beans were excellent and you could tell, homemade. They had a very good smoky flavor to them. The fries were good, standard frozen fries.. The coleslaw lacked a bit of flavor for me, but some salt and pepper helped it along. The Hush puppies ...WOW! These are some gourmet hush puppies and probably some of the best I've had in a very long time. There was corn and peppers inside of them! They know how to bake/fry/cook at this place. We got some of the pecan cinnamon rolls to go, as I said, I've had them before. WOW! As far as all the places I've tried recently, these are my favorite CR's. The rolls themselves are filled with pecans (they have some without) and cinnamon. The dough is this interesting mix of crunchy but soft at the same time. But the magic, to me, happens when that icing mixes with them. The icing melts into the rolls and make it a magical bite that immediately makes you want more. Warning, they are dangerous. Now, these are a specific type of rolls. They are NOT dry and mostly dough tasting. They are influenced heavily by the icing, that some people may not like or prefer, but for me these things are crazy good. I could eat a pan of them easily myself. Now the reason I put 4 stars, was the service. The girl that helped us seemed scared of us (don't blame her) and needed a tray to carry items on. She went back and forth about 5 times trying to get our drinks, tarter sauce, ketchup, sides (2 dishes had late sides) and refills. Those trips could have been made much faster by just having a tray of some sorts to put everything on. They WERE busy in the small space, but I think everyone could have been helped faster if they just have a bit more practice and consolidate their trips to the tables with a tray. I heard they have excellent lunch time specials, so make sure to check them out during the week. This is a great spot in Seneca, make sure you stop by!
