Service is always friendly. I have certain places I like for a Greek salad. The dressing is amazing to me. I like that the chicken comes separately when I take out with pita bread. But I do wish they had grape leaves. I just can't believe the reality that my favorite salad in most places is $20 or more, it's iceberg lettuce lol. This place has true history it's been around longer than I am it used to be called the hurricane house known as an ice cream shop, diner, with penny candy in a jar. My wife and I split the club sandwich with chicken salad. The portion was huge once we saw it on another table which is why we decided to split it. It also came with a side of fries. What a amazing place. Very cute inside, but the real bragging point is the food. We went in for a "early bird special" but everything was absolutely phenomenal. First, we shared a pierogi appetizer, which was the cute little pierogies with fried onions and sour cream. It was a huge portion. My wife had chicken with the light sauce, wild rice, and freshly grilled vegetables. I had fish and chips and they actually had malt vinegar! Food is ok The place really needs a good cleaning The doors, windows and mirrors hadn't been cleaned. The entrance was dirty, which is your first impression. We have been here many times before but waited months before we came back because the food wasn't that good. I doubt if we'll ever go back. Some gluten free items but not impressed. A hidden locals spots with a menu of lots of items with great portions sizes. There's a burger that will bust your gut. There are always ice cream choices for dessert, too. But.. the appetizers failed horribly. The mozzarella sticks were mediocre. There were two cooked together, which meant the batter inside never cooked and it was wet coating... the cook should know better that they need to tear them apart from the freezer before frying them. The pierogies were the driest I've ever seen and tasted. And the grilled onions were even drier.. maybe boiled. I asked for more to moistened those puffs up. We were so excited to find this hidden gem. It is a cute old school ice cream parlor feel restaurant that has breakfast, lunch and dinner and let's not forget the ice cream offering. We stopped in for lunch. We ordered the Mediterranean wrap, Italian panini and then to start we had a cup of French onion soup and the soup of the day which was chicken and rice. All was delicious. We are excited to go back for breakfast. Prices were reasonable but bring case so that you don't get the 1% credit card fee that many places started to do unfortunately. Ahhh what to say about everyone's beloved Sweet Jennys ? Well their ice cream is amazing ! The service is phenomenal for the most part in the summer anyway when I've been ( mostly teenagers) and it's busy as heck and you may have to wait. It can be a bit noisy but it's a diner what do you expect ?! The food for me is a little heavy but they have a little of everything and their plate sizes are big and I enjoy that. They also are a bit pricier than other diners in the area but I'm sure that's because of their " location " in the downtown Barnegat area spot they snagged. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE FROM HOSTESS AND SERVERS!!! I used to go to the Og Sweet Jenny's as a little girl. I brought a friend from out of town here and was really excited and explaining the lore, we were seated right before a rush of people came in. I'd want to say 2 minutes before, I even helped an old man pull his wife's wheel chair into the building. Then several groups of people came in. I figured they were a bit busy but ended up waiting 10+ minutes (not having even been greeted after the hostess told us we could sit). Not a hi, sorry I'll be right with you, or just some complementary placement waters. None of the servers greeted us. I watched a servers WALK PAST our table to go to a new one that had a group of 6, all who walked in after us. By the time she would've been done with that tables order and gotten to us another 5-10 minutes would have gone by so we decided to leave and go to ihop. This was just rude and unprofessional on all ends. 2 servers and a hostess and not one person thought to just check in and say that someone will be with us shortly? The hostess made eye contact with me and my friend MULTIPLE TIMES, and didn't think to just offer to grab our drinks? I'm not upset I wasn't seen fast, I'm upset at the complete disregard of our presence. The hostess was staring at us and didn't do anything like what??? The servers looked at us and walked past us without an acknowledgment, like huh???? again, I understand it got very busy very fast. But a quick acknowledgement would have gone a long ass way. This is a very quaint place in the heart of Barnegat Twp. Sweet Jenny is no longer with us and her family sold it a Joe, who has had the place a few years, so I'm told by my server, Alyssa. Joe is keeping the place well run and Jenny is smiling from above. I had the French toast with almonds and strawberries. The almonds were not toasted and the strawberries were not of the fresh variety. I did eat my whole order, but it was a tad too sweet for me. Too carbed out. Maybe I ordered the wrong item. The place seems nice and clean, a lot of local history on the walls. The ice cream menu looks tempting, but I declined. These are the kind of meals that you have to sleep it off afterwards, but I declined that too. See my picture for the Wall of Shame they have there. Welcoming staff and quick service. Had the Country Benedict and Bloomsburg Benedict. Both were very good. Prices are comparable to other cafes. Really good local place. They renovated a bit during the ridiculousness (2020). The place looks very nice and clean. I brought the family, we got a couple appetizers to warm up. The Boardwalk Bites are fried cheddar & American cheese balls. They were tasty with the tangy honey mustard sauce. Also grabbed the teriyaki boneless wings. They were very good, the sauce had a very good pineapple taste to it. For dinner I got the Maggie's Meatloaf Tower. It was a nice size plate. A nice delicious thick piece of meatloaf, with an onion ring, a mound of bacon, melted cheddar and covered in beef gravy with mashed potatoes and veggies. It was honestly more than I could finish. This review is for the appetizers alone. We came here for a quick bite to eat and ordered appetizers and a kid's pizza. When the food arrived we knew instantly that it was going to be trash. The shrimp were soggy and terrible. The boneless chicken bites were just cut up pieces of chicken tenders. The spring rolls were super small and filled with almost nothing. The corn Nuggets tasted cheap and the sauce that came with it was terrible. The only half-decent item that was ordered was the kid's pizza. The way they advertise this small quaint place does not match what they deliver. I doubt I'll be back for a main meal because they can't even get appetizers right. read more

First time here for late evening dinner. It's a nice, family-owned local restaurant. The employees are friendly, & it's a casual, comfortable atmosphere. The restaurant is well lit, but can still be intimate if you choose a booth, which sit around the perimeter of the interior. The menu is varied, with an assortment of poultry, meat, & veg options. They also have home-made ice cream, which I hear is delicious, but I was too full, which was directly related to the portion size. I feel, you get your money's worth here. Not that it's expensive, it's about the middle of the road price range, but it's worth it.
