Okay, the price per pound is quite high, but the variety of candies and sweets at Sweet Mickey's is pretty awesome and the shop is cute and well lit. Also, you can sample the candies before you buy--I try not to be greedy and just take one per cubby--and I've been able to find some great and interesting sweets that way. I got this tip from their friendly staff, by the way. It's okay to try before you buy at this shop! The place is awesome! I went in with my friend a couple of weeks ago to specifically get some licorice. I left with three bags of candy and a HUGH smile on my face! One bag was black licorice twisted like pretzels. I have two pieces left and I'm already planning on a trip back to get some more. Another bag was a mix of various kinds of licorice that I sampled and liked. They were/are all so good. My third bag was a mix or various gummies and fun candies to share with my family. I'm the only black licorice lover in the house, so I got all that to myself. :) The woman working at the store (I believe she was the owner) was so friendly and kind! When Randy learned that my husband and I were engaged, he decided to sponsor a candy table at our wedding, filled with an assortment of delicious chocolate, taffy's and gummies. This is one of the cutest candy shops I've ever seen. I love the layout. As you enter, it's candy drinks on your right followed by a wall of pick & mix style options from all over America & Europe, to the very back looked like some chocolates, to your left, unique and cute gift baskets for a number of occasions, and behind that the shop owner at the display and checkout counter, featuring in-house made truffles and fudge. I stuck to the pick&mix because for example there were candies from Italy & Canada I wanted to re-try, but also unique flavors I'd never imagined before such as "spicy Mango" which literally tasted like someone melted pepper and mixed it into the gummy. It's delicious if you're into interesting flavors. They had more traditional flavors as well like strawberry, grape, etc. The owner is polite and complimented my smile, so there's no way to add another star, because I can't but sure did help ! read more

The windows are so adorable. A throwback to a time when shops did wonderful window displays. The shop is a nice blend of chocolate, fudge, and vintage candy options. I have everything from chocolate covered peanuts and malted milk balls to gummy bears, Turkish Taffy, and jawbreakers. Today they had some beautiful truffles that would make a wonderful Valentine's gift. Located in Ballard Central, it's a cute location. The good thing and also at times a drawback is street parking. I've been coming to this candy shop since it was in its old location on 57th. The old location was great and had its charm, but the new location on Ballard Ave is even better! There's more space, which means more room for more of that sweet, sweet candy. I love stopping in and seeing what they have in the bulk bins since last time I was in. I love trying the different packaged treats they have, many of which I'd likely never have heard of had it not been for Sweet Mickeys (they have many they get from different countries). The select offering of delicious truffles is nicely curated to fit different tastes (my go-to when I want something small but decadent). And finally their specialty, the fudge. The fudge is amazingly smooth, rich, and luxurious. I basically always buy some to bring family whenever I travel (at this point they've come to expect it LOL). And the people. As you might be able to tell from the above, over the years I've stopped in a great many times (probably too many... but let's ignore that!). The employees here are always kind and helpful. And the owner, Randy (or Candy Randy), is very personable and thoughtful. He's always up for a chat and I'm consistently surprised at all the details he remembers, even if it's been months since I last stopped in! So yeah, really love everything about this place. Been coming back since it first opened! Note: the street parking adjacent to the park/skateboard bowl near Sweet Mickey's is up 2 hours until 6pm. The other side is paid parking up to 4 hours. Peanut butter chocolate for the kiddo (under $9 for half a pound of goodness) Sea salt dark chocolate or plain dark chocolate next time for me, since I just had a treat at nearby Parfait. I really wanted to like this candy shop, but it was just awful. The candy bins were mostly empty and dirty. It looked like what was left had been repeatedly buried under whatever they refilled them with. The gummies we chose were also incredibly hard. Aside from that, the two young girls who were working there spent the entire time loudly gossiping about some other girls from school. I wouldn't mind that, but they had no music playing. So with how the acoustics are in that room, it was echoing all over and made the whole time there super awkward. I can confidently say that we won't be back after that experience. read more

This shop is ADORABLE and I believe it was either the store owner or a manager that checked me out tonight and he was incredibly friendly. The decorations in the shop were adorable. I was obsessed with everything this place had to offer. I honestly felt like a kid again coming into this shop. I have a tradition of getting my friend a bag of gummies from this shop for her birthday every year, and I was worried that COVID would get in the way of that this year. But Randy, the owner, rose to the occasion when I called him! Not only did he hand-select a wonderful assortment of gummies for my friend, but he hand-wrote a gift card with my message inside, arranged the candy and card in a beautiful gift basket and had one of his employees hand-deliver it to my friend's house on the other side of Seattle and sing her happy birthday (from a safe distance)!
