The friendly staff are at hand to tell you everything you want about these sweet treats, and will lure you into buying more than you wanted with free samples of the wickedly tempting stuff. This is a charming little shop tucked away off the main road passing through the town, so you might not immediately see it. It's easy to find though, and is very near the main parking zone. The staff in Cocoa & Co are very lovely, and clearly take a pride in their products. They have a good range of handmade chocolates and gifts, but the thing that really makes this shop something special, are the sugar-covered almonds. In all different colours, jars of them fill a wall. These are my favourite of sweets, so I was very, very excited when I first found them. But they're great for wedding favours, and Cocoa & Co specialise in making these up, if you're so inclined.

(I had lived in Cowbridge for six months before I discovered this beautiful little mews!) Being a chocoholic this is my kind of shop, and although expensive, the treats that they have on offer are our of this world... so, essentially well worth the extra dollar! Although i have never indulged in anything but the handmade chocs, they also sell a pretty broad assortment of other sweets, that are bought in from other cottage industries and small manufacturers. The interior of the shop is like something you would expect to find in a period film about the Victorian era... it has that other-worldly charm going on about it! A real delight!

I attended the workshop in Brighton, and my gosh, what a perfect way to spend a Saturday morning. There was 11 of us in the group this morning, a perfect number to get the best out of our class. We were in the company of a chap called Alan who was a chocolate expert (my perfect man, perhaps??) who not only taught us how to make the most amazing chocolate truffles, but all so taught us a lot about the history of chocolate. There was also a chocolate fondue on the table with marshmallows for dipping (OMG!!), plus licking of bowls, spoons, hands etc was in no way discouraged, in fact it was expected! First we were shown how to make the truffle centre for our chocolates, next how to temper the chocolate for the outer shells, and finally how to add a coating such as coconut, chopped nuts or cocoa powder. The finished product were 50 beautiful, if slightly mis-shapen chocolates to take away with us. We were also shown how to package them in bags and cellophane, tied with ribbon. What a great experience and lovely gifts for friends (yeah right!) And so what if I came out with chocolate in my hair, its all part of the process...

A Fishmonger, Greengrocer and Florist is a creative combination and from the moment you step into the store you sense you are a welcome friend. The various items on sale are so artistically arranged. They are easy to see and examine. The staff are very client-focussed and desire to really provide just the items you are seeking. It took me back a few decades when I used to visit relations in Surrey who ran a couple of similar stores as well as mobile stores throughout the area.
