I have been with them for quite a while now and I've always been pleased with their service - they pick up our trash on time. They don't change it for the holidays. It's always the same day that they're supposed to come. I've never had a single problem. When my husband called to raise a legitimate concern, the person on the phone hung up on him -- no warning, no attempt to resolve the issue. That alone says everything about how this company values its customers. Second, we were hit with an unexpected fee because our can was allegedly "too full and contained organic material." We reviewed our contract thoroughly -- there is no stated weight limit and no prohibition on organic material anywhere in the agreement. Charging customers for violations that aren't documented in writing is unacceptable. Finally, the pickup crew has repeatedly left our trash can tipped over on its side in the middle of our driveway rather than returning it upright to the side of the road -- a basic courtesy any responsible hauler should extend. The office help is incredibly unprofessional. I was treated rudely when I asked questions and when I called the woman on the phone said" Whatever, have a nice day." and then she hung up on me. I tried calling back but they wouldn't pick up and went to a recorded message. I am baffled how they have any business treating people this way. Fail to pick up trash and tell us we didn't have it out. Had it out the night before and it shows it on our cameras. We were told they "didn't care" that we have cameras. Their driver said it wasn't out there and they will "try" and pick it up sometime this week and hung up. We called back to speak to a manager and we were met with the same attitude and disrespect. read more

We have been very happy with Sweetheimer. We live in the country and have had them removing our trash for eight years. They always pick up and we are not always the best at not over filling. If we have larger items they will pick them up for a reasonable fee. I had a cracked can last year and they replaced without us asking them too. We also use them at work for our small dumpster. If I could give Sweetheimer zero stars, I would. They are not even listed on the Better Business Bureau and I know why They would have zero good reviews. The first issue we had with this company was when they said our trash was too heavy and they could not lift the container. At this time, the truck did not have a side lever to pick up trash. I called the owner and informed her our trash was not picked up for two weeks. She said it was because of the weight of the container and the man operating the truck was not able to pick it up. She said we would have to lift the container ourselves if we wanted this picked up. Wow! We would be paying for a trash service where we would have to do their job. We immediately changed providers at this point. A year later we found out Sweetheimer now had a side lever and could pick up heavier containers. We switched back to them because they were cheaper than the other company. Last week, they picked up our cardboard boxes that were sitting next to our recycling bin. They charged us $20 for picking up this cardboard. They said we called them for extra pick up of the cardboard, but we never did. Just started using them a few weeks ago. Paid my first bill today. And, since I had them using MY can I was curious as to whether the truck could hook up to it ok. I asked, she said she knew of no issues. About a half hour later she calls me back telling that she recalls the driver saying the can had a crack. I explained that the can WAS in perfect condition when I put it up on the hill for collection. (keep in mind that they have dumped it at least three weeks in a row) So, with her on the phone, I went out and looked. And sure enough, RIGHT where they hook up to the can it was broken. The entire handle! I told the lady that it was not like that before and I did not want to have to start paying an extra 10 bucks for THEIR can when mine was fine before their driver got hold of it! She was very rude. Instead of trying to work out a solution she said, in a nasty tone, "well, we will just refund your money and you can find someone else!" And HUNG UP on me. I called recently for a mistake on my bill. In December, the company forgot to stop at my address to pick up trash. I called the business to see if they could come back and get it because I had a lot due to the holidays. She said she'd send them back the next day. They didn't show up so I called again. The next day they arrived (two days late) and picked up the trash. I got the bill the other day and an extra $20 fee was on the bill. I was not informed that there would be another fee for pick up due to their oversight. The lady at the business proceeded to tell me that any pickup that is not "on cycle" is printed on my bill. I told her that they did not pick it up on the normal day and it was their error, not mine and I should not be charged. She proceeded to get her "notes" and then came back and lied and said it was not out that morning. I said it definitely was and they didnt get it. I then offered to pull my camera records and she said I would still be charged. She then got very confrontational and nasty and I said I was simply not going to pay the fee for their error. She told me I had or cancel my service and then hung up. I tried to call back and she wouldnt answer the phone. This morning my trash bin is gone, without my cancelling the service. I simply went with another company. I have ready other reviews so I know how terrible the lady is at the front desk and others have had the same type of experience. RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I called to complain that they had not managed to remove/take an old plastic garden hose holder (weighs approximately 2 pounds)...and was yelled at by a woman (would not tell me her name) who did not let me finish explaining my complaint, told me that I should not complain because after all, "it's just trash" and that they did not need my business and that I should find a new company. I called back and asked to speak to a different person but she refused to allow that. The next several times I tried calling back she did not answer the phone and immediately hung up on me, or left the line busy or pretended (unconvincingly) to be the answering machine message. When we finally spoke she told me the company would not be doing business with me. I guess she is the owner??? If not, I hope the owner of the company is ok with the receptionist making financial decisions for the company. I plan on disputing this month's payment as I no longer want to do business with a company that can't provide basic customer service. Oh I almost forgot...she also sarcastically suggested that I could throw my trash unto the truck the next time...in other words if I wanted to do the driver's job for him AND pay him that I could do that if I wanted to! Best trash company ever! We had a TON of extra garbage after a flood and i called to ask them to take more for a charge and the lady said don't worry about it! They took everything we had out there! 2 extra cans, two bags of wet heavy garbage, a huge metal cabinet, a cooler and an overflowing huge garbage bin. I was super impressed. I have been a customer with them for a few years. The reason we stayed with them so long is that they will pick up almost anything for a small additional charge. There really is no other reason. They pick up on time every week but so does everyone else. Customer service has continued to go down hill in recent months and is virtually non-existent. The woman that you usually speak with over the phone is always very confrontational, has an excuse for everything, and expects you to bend over backwards to coordinate any additional pickups of large items, etc. We recently moved and we have municipal pick up and other options. If you need rural service, I would go with one of their competitors and stay away, far far away from this business. read more

This is the absolute worst business for customer service. I called to cancel my service on the day that my bill was due and was told I needed to pay for one month instead of three. This was already after they didn't pick up my trash for that week. The lady told me that the trash must not have been put out on time. She was very rude and treats customers in a demeaning manner. They require the trash to be put out by 7:00 am. I leave my house at 6:00 am every day and always put the trash out on Monday. They also charge more than any other trash company in the area with $66 for three months ($22 a month). I WILL NEVER REFER ANYONE TO USE THIS TERRIBLE BUSINESS AGAIN!!! read more
