Some of the best food I've had on Bainbridge. Hopeful they can maintain great standards. Will be back!

The menu is very seafood focused and everything we tried (oysters, crab cocktail, clam chowder, steelhead blt) was wonderful.

HI LIFE is an exception, and will be a go-to going forward. The Poke sho-ka-do box is a great option for open minded first-timers. It's a huge amount of food, easily satisfying two and giving you a nice sense of the variety of fish and marinades on offer. Note that it's a fixed set, so you'll likely end up with some marinades/fish you prefer over others. The mayo-base poke wasn't my jam, but that's personal preference. One note, it'd be nice if the box included rice. it's available for $3 extra, which feels trivial. As for dining environs, it's located in a refurbished service station. There's limited indoor seating by the service counter, but most tables are under the overhang where gas pumps would have once been. I'd go at a slightly off-time if possible to ensure you get a seat! Overall: 4.5/5

The staff were also super kind and helpful. We were originally about to order three boxes, but they actually recommended sticking with two, saying it would be enough and they were completely right. We were stuffed. Each bento box comes with a variety of poke styles (9) you can mix and try, which made the whole experience even better. Every single one we tried was fresh, flavorful, and really well-prepared. I'm from Seattle, but this is absolutely worth the ferry ride to Hi Life. I'll definitely be coming back.

We had reservations so we did not need to wait long to be seated. Service overall was pleasant. There was a Happy Birthday note on the table which was really cute and appreciated. They didn't have enough menus for those they seat. We were initially provided one to share with apologies. Later they brought us another one. For a restaurant with these prices we would think they'd have enough menus printed for patrons. When we started to order we learned they were out of the house made bread and the marinated olives and toasted almonds. Our reservation was pretty early in the evening so, similarly to Seabird, we were dumbfounded how items like this were already not planned for well nor available with a small menu. We didn't want any other starter so moved along. I ordered the country steak bavette steak going against the risk from other reviews, but I really wanted steak. The steak was cooked med rare like requested. The steak itself was okay. The interesting part was the spread of green sauce and other did not add any flavor to the experience. It could not have been there and same difference. I can't say I'd order again. The Agate Burger was kind of dry and I would not order that again. Someone else had undercooked. Ours seemed over cooked. Like pizza, burgers are one of those items that I'm always shocked when it's not basic enjoyable. When you've made basic and delicious burgers at home, you know it would take extra work to make it unsatisfying. Everyone loves a grilled burger. Ling cod and prawns - Ling Cod was cooked REALLY well, but the overall dish lacked flavor and left you again unsatisfied. We asked to see the dessert menu (of which we were given 1), but even though it was my birthday we made the decision to skip dessert. We enjoyed dessert at home. Others seemed to have different experiences so you can decide, but it's not a cheap gamble. It was hard to ignore the glaring chipped wall right next to our table. I'm not really sure how I feel about the ambiance. Seems like a small thing, but the candle wasn't lit. Had to ask for a light. It wouldn't. Had to ask for another one to be brought. We tried really hard to improve our experience from all angles possible lol Parking - private lot. The museum is closed so you should easily find a spot.

The chicken Caesar salad used a lot of the center of the head, but was still fine. We had two (one entree, one side) so you can see the size comparison. The only minus is a 5% surcharge for kitchen staff tips. It's management's job to sort that out, and not have an extra fee on the bill. It made for an awkward conversation at the end of an otherwise nice experience.

Stopped in for a bite of dinner after we were torn between another local pub (near Safeway) or here. We both had such fond memories of Docs and that led us to our choice. Got seated quickly but it took kinda forever to get even water delivered much less a drink order placed. We decided to make our dinner order too because of the drink delay. Hubby was too happy that they had his fav beer - black butte porter -available so her ordered that. My Chardonnay was from WA which is not my fav but it was a choice of $11/glass or $20/glass for an overpriced, under-tasting CA option. Our dinner came almost too quickly. 3 piece fish and chips. First impression: wow, that's hardly any fries. Second impression: wow, how long have these been sitting out. You can always depend on Docs fries to be amazing but not this time. They were limp, soggy and just about inedible. We did let our waiter know and he did reorder us a batch but they came almost at the end of our dinner tho. BUT these were the fries we rave about at Docs... hot, crispy, real potatoes. Yum! Now the fish: the cod itself was perfect. Thick, fresh, hot, moist but I don't know what this 'crusting' is. It's like it's been rolled in seasoned cracker crumbs then fried sure it's crispy but it's like it's encased in edible armor. Not a fan. The batter they used to have was so superior to this. I was disappointed to be honest. Upon paying and leaving hubby says: well, we won't do that again. It's too bad because it was such a regular hangout for us with my folks who just about everyone knew by name. It's also my first time back since they passed (2021) so I really was missing them. Not the same on many levels. Even the crack sauce wasn't 'right.' I've never left any behind in the cup before...I did this time.

The dining room had subdued lighting, with candles on the tables and jazz piped in. My wife was a cheap date and ordered the shrimp Po' Boy. My daughter went with a medium-rare filet, and I went big with a medium-rare rib-eye steak. Salads are not offered with the steak entrees, which was surprising at these prices, but did come with veggies and fries, think skinny fries. After a longish wait, our meals arrived. The steaks were excellently prepared and yummy. My wife enjoyed her shrimp as well. We all decided the fries could have been better, and the veggies, squash, and broccoli were just so-so. Our server was fine but not particularly engaging. I feel the prices are too high for what was delivered. At $69, my rib-eye should have included a small house salad and bread, but it didn't.

We each ordered a 12-inch pizza of our liking, knowing that we would have leftovers to take home for lunch the next day. I ordered the Italian sausage pizza, Salsiccia. My wife ordered a Margherita pizza, and my daughter ordered a Prosciutto. All three pies came out of the brick oven in no time. We shared slices from each. Funny, we all thought the pizza we each ordered was the best, but all were great. Service was excellent the entire evening. Our server was attentive and funny.
