My motivation for taking a family portrait at Busath was because my husband is turning 40 so I felt we needed to take the best photo of our family possible to commemorate that. Busath really is the best at family photos, the lighting is perfect and everyone looks like family together at their best! I was very nervous about doing photos but our experience was so good here. We had a great, comfortable session with our photographer Erin and her assistant Makayla, they make sure the lighting is good, our hair wasn't all over our faces, got my girls to smile & be expressive. It's definitely a far different experience taking your pictures here than anywhere else. My little girls were so curious to explore the mansion and Erin gave a quick tour of what was upstairs to my girls and they liked her a lot. The studio is very organized from start to finish. You have your session and then they invite you back for another appointment to review the proofs. We took photos outside in their studio gardens which were beautiful. They make sure you are happy with every detail of your portrait that you select on for purchase & retouching is great and natural looking. Yes you do need to plan and budget for photos taken here. I personally think you just need a few good photos to display at home that can work well for a few years, then update again after a few years so you don't necessarily need a formal group portrait taken every single year. Often you risk taking way too many family photos and they just end up in boxes instead of out for display. Taking a family photo every 3-5 years is fine IMO. I decided in addition to the family photo, to also shoot one portrait of my two daughters together, individual portraits of each daughter and a quick business headshot for my work. I got a lot of compliments from work on my headshot and my husband said after looking at some of the proofs, "all my girls are beautiful. I am one lucky guy to have you all in my life" I will definitely plan on coming back here again for my next special moment for my family and recommend.

I have no idea how Drake does it, but he and his team are fantastic! We've now had photos done here twice and both times I've been very happy with the photos. They may be a bit pricey and they don't operate like photofly or camera shy, but they definitely are worth the money. We did get some digital copies although not really high quality, enough for Christmas cards and social media. They do keep the high res digital files and do have a copyright so you do have to pay for what you want printed.

When one is having such an awesome wedding, one must have an equally awesome photographer. It was really important to me that the photos truly captured the feeling of the event. I wanted people to look at the photos and really feel what it was like to be there. After browsing the websites of scores of professional photographers, I was starting to get discouraged. Either the photos in their portfolio seemed way overly posed, the photographer was wayyyy out of my price range, or both. Then I happened to come across an ad Samantha posted on Craigslist. Her portfolio was one of the best I'd seen. I knew she'd be way out of my price range, but I e-mailed her anyway. I was wrong. Her quote was really reasonable, and she was very enthusiastic about photographing our Martian adventure. I knew we'd found our photographer. We met up with Samantha several months before the wedding so she could check out the planetarium and talk to us about what we wanted to see in the photos. In the weeks leading up to it, she did light tests at the Planetarium to make things would look right. And on the day of, she took tons of killer photos. She was always professional and very easy to work with. We got the photos back two weeks after the wedding and they are all that I hoped for. Really. If people want to know what my wedding was like, all they have to do is look at the photos. All the emotions, all the happiness, it's all there. I also recommended Samantha to some other friends who had a much different ceremony than ours: outdoors, private, low key. (Our reception was pretty raucous.) And she did a wonderful job too, capturing all the serenity and tranquility of that situation as well as she captured our big party. I'm so pleased with our wedding photos, and if Samantha is your photographer, I'm sure you will be too.

We were so happy when Sam agreed to accompany us on our not-so-traditional walk down the municipal asile. Calm and collected during the whole event, Sam managed to keep us at ease as well. I was a hectic waiting period at the City Clerk's office (nearly two hours!) but Sam took it all in stride, making sure to fully capture the excitment and energy of the whole event. And boy was I glad that she did. Honestly, it was such an emotional time for me I don't think I fully appreciated the beauty of it until I got Sam's photos back.
