SYDENHAM TAXIS SUCK, SPECTACULARLY! For the fourth time in as many months this truly ramshackle outfit has let me down and caused cumulative inconvenience, distress and anxiety, especially as I'm partially disabled and nearly ninety. *On one indelibly memorable occasion they failed to show up at all...* SYDENHAM TAXIS DON'T DESERVE TO BE IN BUSINESS, GIVE THEM YOURS AND YOU'LL LIKELY REGRET IT Hereonwards they'll certainly secure no more of mine. I've had the last laugh though, litetally at their expense ha-ha, because they can whistle for the cash I was originally due to pay them this morning. My decision enables me to claw back at least some of the money I've been forced to pay others to carry out the job THEY were engaged to do... For the second time Sydenham Taxis' total incompetence compelled me to employ a competitor company. Naked unprofessionalism is something I refuse to subsidise. I am revising my rating based on several bad experiences. I am no longer using this taxi company as I just can't rely on them. At least five times over the past couple of months, they have not turned up when booked in advance. It takes two phone calls to get a car dispatched and worst of all, there is one male controller who has lied to us about what has happened and where the car is. He told us that the car was just pulling into the road around the corner, but 10 minutes later the car arrived from a completely different direction. I have had to get out of two different cars because I didn't believe that they were road worthy. A third one could only use side lights at night. When I called to complain, I was told that their policy had changed to have two MOTs per year. I somehow didn't believe them, and did not see a rise in the standard of car maintenance. Very often the drivers smoke and don't take care of their cars. I have had an argument with one particular driver twice about dropping me off at the far side of Sydenham station - because he didn't want to go round the roundabout. He wanted to know why I couldn't walk over the footbridge as it was more convenient for him. It's a real shame, as they used to be quite good. I am now using a different cab company. read more

A total disaster. I used them twice, first time the car was 20 minutes late, second time the driver was 10 minutes early and hung up on me and drove off when I said I'd be out in 10 minutes. There's no point messing about with a terribly run cab office, just book an Uber and get on with your day. read more

I have had a number of terrible experiences with this cab firm. Very rude drivers. When I complained to management I was told it was my word against there. They left me pregnant, stranded and very irate. I would strongly recommend finding another firm. Not worth the hassle. read more

Very friendly car service that is always polite. They text you when they have arrived to pick you up and they always make a good conversation. I always use them when im in need of a car service in the area. read more

Totally unreliable! Didn't send a cab to collect my old parents from Gatwick and no explanation when I called - said one was on its way and be 40 minutes, i.e just leaving. No explanation when I walked into the taxi office - very annoying service. I won't be using them again! read more

We used Sydenham Cars on c 12 occasions in the past 12 months. We used them as we wanted to support a local business. However, after a further bad experience just last week we will no longer be using this taxi company as we just can't rely on them. Some examples: A) Various Pick Ups from Stansted Airport February 2016: Arrived c 1 hour late for a pick up March 2016: they completely forgot about our booking (meaning that we ended up having to travel over 2 hours with a baby and toddler at midnight from Stansted to Sydenham by bus and train - not a great experience at all) May 2016: After the flight land we immediately called Sydenham Cars to avoid the March 2016 situation. We were told that the driver was "near Stansted Airport", after several further calls and still not admitting that they had again forgotten about our booking, the driver turned up c 1 hour after the agreed pick up time and c 1.5 hours after our first call. We therefore assume the car was only dispatched after we called to inform that we landed. As we thought about cancelling the transfer during the waiting time a discount was agreed with the dispatching person AND the driver. At drop off the driver did not recall this and requested the full amount. B) Pick Ups from Gatwick Airport December 2015: overcharging parking fees and waiting time January 2016: unclear communication regarding pick up point (the driver did not provide us with detailed information at which hotel/ where (?) he was waiting - took us a long time finding the car C) Pick Up from Bupa Cromwell Hospital January 2016: Driver did not wait in front of hospital but "nearby" - unclear communication where this was and unclear why driver did not simply come straight to the hospital as agreed and required in light of a patient that just had anesthetics. At drop off driver requested additional money for waiting time - waiting time caused by him for not parking in front of the hospital but in a street nearby. It's a real shame, as we would have liked to support them. We will now be using a different cab company. read more

I booked a taxi the night before to ensure it would arrive on time, I waited for five minutes past my booking time but did not see my car, I called the operator who was very apologetic and said he could get a car to me in a minute which he did. The Taxi man had his lunch on the front seat which he seemed surprised to move as I put my heavy parcel in the back and sat in the front. I gave him the address- a retail park, when we got nearer the area he asked if I had been there before which I had not, he turned down a street which had a similar address to what I needed, when we arrived at a dead end the taxi stopped the car and said 'we are here'. I could see the retail park through the alleyway across a large, busy crossroads. I said to the driver I believed it is across the road but he did not react. He then charged me full fair. I had a text message from the company saying if I had any comments to call the office- I spoke to the same gentlemen I had spoken to before who at first questioned me asking if I had told the taxi driver I hadn't arrived at my destination, I said I did and he said he would flag the driver and speak to the Manager who would give me a call in the next two days. I am writing this five days later as I have not had a call as yet. I will not use this service again. read more
