We appreciated the attention given to us by two young women (Gus was busy with a guest's birthday party) who guided us around the property and used our cell phones to take pictures of our ride - lots of pictures and videos! Herding calves around the corral was a cute experience while my wife pretended she was a "Rawhide" drover. i Highly recommend this for those who are young, infirmed, or novice. Turkey Creek Stables in Plant City has false advertising on their website. It states that rides are…read more$20 for 1 hour, but when we arrived, we were told it was actually $45 per hour. On top of that, there was also a $5 fee that was never mentioned upfront. When we questioned the price difference, we were told that the website with the $20 pricing has supposedly been up for the past 3 years, and that they "use a different website" as well, which was very confusing and misleading for customers. I had a very disappointing and unsafe experience at Turkey Creek Stables and would not return. During my ride, my horse and another rider's horse began racing each other at a speed that felt completely out of control. Despite repeatedly trying to get my horse to stop, I had no control over the situation. The horses were going so fast that the rest of the group did not return from the guided ride until about 15 minutes after us. I ended up being thrown off my horse and fell directly onto my back. I got the wind knocked out of me and later went to urgent care, where I was told I had significant bruising, including a large contusion on my inner thigh. What was most concerning was the lack of response afterward. No one immediately ran over or properly checked to make sure I was okay. The only person who took the time to come over, check on me, and give me basic advice like icing and taking Tylenol was the hispanic man (the staff member). Aside from that, there was very little concern shown for my safety. I was also very uncomfortable with how the situation was handled afterward. A front desk comment about getting "certified cowgirl stamps" and mentioning my nails being intact felt extremely unprofessional and dismissive given what had just happened. Additionally, the guides appeared very young and not adequately prepared for handling emergencies. During a guided ride, I would expect at least one experienced guide in the front and one in the back to ensure safety and control, but that was not the case here. Overall, I'm highly disappointed with the lack of safety, supervision, and professionalism. I would not recommend this experience and would not go back.

Either way, there is plenty of parking in both of the lots regardless of which entrance you choose to park in order to enter the trail. You do have to pay $2 to park which I think is extremely reasonable. I would suggest using the west entrance if you have a horse trailer as this trail is designed to horseback riders, mountain bikers, and hikers as a shared trail. So just be aware of your surroundings as you may need to yield. It's shady for about 65%-75% of the trail. When the sun gets to be overhead, there is still a reasonable amount of shade but of course, it just gets hot. I had no problem following the trail even without an overabundance of trail markers. It's literally a loop. It's not a perfect circle but it's easy to follow. There is one trail that goes down the middle of the loop just in case you want to cut your trail time in half and don't want to do the whole loop. It was slightly odd crossing someone's front yard to get to the other side of the trail on the west side of the loop but other than that, no qualms. Gnats and mosquitos were annoying in certain parts and there was horse poop but overall it wasn't too bad. It's a really easy beginner trail. It's really flat with cut grass too so if you have accessibility issues or are handicapped, I think this trail could work for you if you're in a wheelchair. I'm not sure if the sand would cause an issue for a wheelchair or a stroller, so use your own judgment. They have signage that the police regularly patrol the area. I assumed this is to dissuade prowlers. The south lot closest to Hwy 60 seems to be less prone to providing the opportunity for prowlers as it seems that the cops sit across the street often in order to catch people speeding on Hwy 60.

Apparently I was not the only one as others were circling around trying to find out where the trail starts. I kept ending up in the private yards of residents. About to give up, I finally just followed a couple that knew the way. If you are new to this trail, it may be easier to access the trail at the SR60 entrance.

Well, Dorian stayed scary so I left for Annwyn. The owner, Kathleen Petersen texted with me often inquiring about my trip and arrival. She greeted me warmly and helped me unload... amazing personal touch. I met the barn manager, Lacy, and was instantly grateful for her cooperative attitude and "whatever you need" way of getting us settled in. They took care of my horses as I would. They were friendly, courteous and understanding in our time of need. I highly recommend this farm for evacuation. I wish I lived closer so I could take lessons at this farm. Just wonderful!

Also we learned that they open at 8am & the spring doesn't open until 9am so when we went today, we were the first to go in. The water was very clear and calm. We saw some fish swimming around the spring and a couple ducks that were hanging out in the water. It was so peaceful until it started getting packed then we decided to leave. But not bad for being local.
