Thanks to the guidebook I managed to find a tour to the blue mountains in a small group…read more Unfortunately, the tours will only start from most of the hotels in the CBD area and I had to purposely stay overnight at a cheaper hotel to join this tour which starts at 7am (timing depends on pick up locations). The downside of this tour is some customers arrive late or didn't show up which took a little bit of the time. First stop, our tour guide as well as driver brought us to Featherdale wild life park. Managed to reach here before 9am (their opening hours) so we managed to feed the Kangaroos, pet the Koala and Wombats, take quick pictures of the animals in different habitats and shop for a bit. Next of was the scenic world where we experienced the railway, cableway, walkway (trail) and skyway. The tour guide leaded us for the cableway and skyway which helped us in maximizing our time there. He then gave us food vouchers (that was included in the tour package) for our lunch and told us to be back around 2 hours later. After scenic world, he brought us to echo point and Leura village. Echo point, you can take pictures of the blue mountains and shop for souvenir while Leura village you can stroll along the shops to sightsee or go to a cafe to enjoy baked goods and cup of coffee. I managed to do both. Time management was definitely an important factor here. We then headed to the Olympic park where we could take picture and use the restroom and along the way he gave us a brief history of the places we passed by. Our last stop was at the river cruise from homebush bay. It took us 1 hour to get back to Circular Quay wharf and the tour guide bid goodbye there. Price wise, it was on the expensive side ($145) but with the code guidebook, you could save $10-$20. The tour ended exactly at 6pm (including the cruise ride to circular quay). Definitely recommend this tour group to other tourists :)

This time, in addition to seeing Sydney, my friend and I did the Blue Mountain excursion, this being a priority. The concierge at the hotel suggested the Blue Mountain tour with FJ tours since it was all inclusive. It was a full day-we left in the morning and did not get back until after dinner. We made a stop at the Featherdale Wildlife Park which was wonderful-we were able to see the wallabees and the kangaroos up close, pet them and feed them. We then went on to Leura for lunch, [Loaves and the Dishes] Echo Point for a photo op and then on to the 3 Sisters. We had rides on the Scenic skyway and the day ended with a cruise dropping us off either at Darling Harbor or Circular Quay. A great day and well worth the time. I would recommend.

Gaz gave us a history lesson about some of the cool and unseemly things that used to go down in The Rocks, got us some delicious beer (well, my wife had some champagne and cider), and was a friendly and personable guide. It was just the two of us and another person and I think all three of us had a great time. Highly recommended and the price includes dinner which was a delicious pizza at The Australian.

We wandered down and found they actually did 2 hour dinner cruises and had one leaving in 10 minutes. Perfect. We boarded the Southern Swan and sat back to enjoy the sights and sounds of Sydney harbor on this fabulous 1922 timber barquentine. The crew was lovely, very helpful and full of information about the harbor and the sites we were passing (Governors House, sharks island, Sydney Opera House etc) The food was very good, better than most dinner cruises on much newer ships. Some sausage or spinach and feta triangles as appetizers were passed around first. Three different salads, two casseroles, one a mild chicken curry and another lentil and veggie one for the vegetarians - all gluten free served buffet style. Brownies for dessert. Drinks were available for an additional cost at the bar or as part of a package. The best bit, should you choose, you can even help raise sails (hubby did that) or even climb the masts. A great way to spend the evening. Thanks to Captain Pete, Howard our host and the wonderful crew members who are mostly international visitors who sign on for up to three months, volunteering for room and board onboard. Although the outdoor temperature was a bit cold on the day we visited, they have outdoor heating and blankets to keep us warm. They have a top cocktail list and we began with one each. The flavours of these were lovely and refreshing and the presentation also fit the setting. Brunch always has to have a Bellini and this one was a nice mix of Champagne with white peach and vine peach liquor. The skyline swizzle was a mix of rum, açai berries, raspberries, fresh lime and bitters. Gin, pineapple, lime and bitters made up the Honolulu cocktail and it was awesome. Food wise, we left it in the hands of the waiter to order us an array of foods, beginning with some beautiful oysters and a vinaigrette. The menu is predominantly seafood, a natural choice given the proximity to the sea. From the sea menu, we tried the Balmain bug risotto, which was cooked just as risotto should be, and with the addition of nice small chunks of Balmain bug. Beautifully presented with edible flowers, Creme fraiche and edamame, this was a popular dish amongst our group. We also tried the yellow fin tuna tartare with avocado, black sesame and ponzu, accompanied by some rice waters. The kale and avocado salad with quinoa, chickpeas, seeds, pine nuts and mint was so refreshing and nice and light to go with the meal. We also had the swordfish steak special with sugar snap peas and a romasco sauce, a seafood lasagne and a side of bread and butter. It's a perfect location, lovely food and efficient service.

Our guide was excellent. He's an enthusiastic biker and proud Sydney resident. He's exactly what you want from a guide because it seemed as much fun for him to be on the ride as it was for us. I've done bike tours in the USA (Chicago,…read moreWashington DC, San Francisco) and in London and it's always a great way to see a lot of the city without having to walk miles and figure out some of the places you'd have to be chained to a map to find. I really didn't know what to expect, I found this tour online and had my hotel help to set it up. I decided about an hour before the tour start time and Graeme was able to get me in. When you arrive, he is set up right in the grassy area so look for a truck with bikes. Also, go with the electric bike (unless you are really looking for a workout). This was the first time I used an electric bike and found the tour much more enjoyable as I wasn't tired by the end but felt like I still got some exercise. Graeme led the tour and was very friendly and entertaining. He took us all over Bridge, Luna Park, Wendy's Garden, Opera House, Elizabeth's Chair and other spots). We left about 10:30 and got back, slightly later then he originally planned at 4:30. For the cost, $95 for 6 hours it was well worth it! He also takes a lot of pictures (some group shots and some singles) throughout the tour and emails them to you. I thought this was a nice touch. As I was by myself, most of the time I don't get pictures so he also is more then accommodating to take picture of you if you ask. We also stopped for coffee and lunch partial way through our tour (cost on your own for both). I must say, I had a really good group and not knowing anyone it was also enjoyable to hear other people talk about what they had/planned to do while in Sydney. Do this tour if you have time, I promise you won't be disappointed!!!!
