No, Paul, you're ridiculous (I say to myself in retrospect), it's to host the Glebe Street Fair! Taking place once per annum, it's an exciting event where dozens of vendors set up stalls in the middle of the street. There's over a kilometer of different stalls with ethnic food, handmade crafts, and nifty activities. I, along with hundreds of other people, descended into the street to check out the buzz. The fair has entertainment all day long, including attractions for kids, live music, and street performances. I was so intrigued by the amount of stalls here that sold practical and quirky things; I ended up making friends with a hammock salesman. Who'd have guessed? The performance I was most looking forward to was the unicyclist riding a super tall unicycle. Unfortunately, it started belting rain in the late afternoon, so I ran back home, disappointed once again at Mother Nature.

It will be rated amongst the North American cons we have been to that include SDCC, Amazing Con, Fan Expos, MegaCons, Rose City, Wizard and Ace but not inclusive. In that perspective this review may not be fair to the Australian Comic Cons in general. However, because comic cons have reached an international level I believe this review can provide a working ground to vast imporvements. There isn't much that takes from a true comic con. This con seemed to be geared more towards crafters and retail merchandise vendors. There wasn't much comics at all and hardly any comic creatives. There were many fantasy writers which I thought was great. A few who were actually trying to put out a comic book but were just getting started. Cosplay was big but seemed to be a little behind other cons. We know Australia has their talents and makes me wonder why they were not present here. The event is held in the International Convention Center right there in beautiful Sydney Harbour. The center I felt was organized well enough. The attendance was there. Having a group of A list creative writers, artists or editors I believe would help draw other creatives to make this a viable show representing comics. That would attract people with bigger wallets willing to spend a lumpy purse. To further facilitate this and to expand on the events an art auction would be good. You could then have artists who may not be able to attend send in pieces giving guest a chance to get hard gotten original art. Portions of the proceeds could go to a charity for additional marketing benefits. A good portion would go back to the artist that could entice them to attend and fill up a good artist alley. Those are some of my ideas. Hope it gets better down under so we can participate.

Truth be told, this dalek may have strutted too. Alot of people yelled exterminate at me but they didn't realise how much I wanted to exterminate them. I was channelling my inner evil dalek. There were kids, teens, adults and a stall for everyone and everything. Even the army were there. I can only assume to recruit the halo people. I got to stalk Jason Momoa around while he shopped. He is so big! And furry! And big. I wanted one but was told they only made one in the factory and he's already owned. I also got to meet The Shat! William Shatner was lovely. Looking old, but lovely. Orlando Bloom seemed to think he needed a lot of security guards whole he dashed in and out of a side door without looking at the stalls compared to the one oz comic con employee that was following Momoa around while he shopped. There were stars from Buffy there too. And star gate... And the hobbit. Oh so many geeks! I picked up some new furry hats, some goggles and an assortment of other wonders to keep me looking fabulous at burning man next year. But all in all? Thanks the various gods that they finally came to Sydney! I had all the fun. My feet hated me after about 9 hours of solid walking. But it was worth it. Ps. Oh, that's right, I forget the juices for adult, wine and alcohol! They are promoting Peroni, since this us Italian village festival. Bangers are nice, you guys can check from social media #the fancy banger. Gelato are nice too $4.50 for the single scoop. The beef ribs are cook to perfection, fall of the bones. Sauce is deep and rich so delicate. Come and check them out, the are finishing at 5 pm this afternoon.

When I went by, it was nice, because there were a few benches to sit on, and people out doing tai chi in the sun. At one end of the park, were a bunch of people in business suits drinking from a cooler of beer during the lunch hour. Fun times! The park isn't nearly as luxurious as some of Sydney's other open green spaces, but it preserves the view of the harbor they've got going on there. There are no public restrooms. There's street side parking. The park is largely wide open, where you could easily get a rugby match or a cricket game going, without colliding with trees or traffic.

I've visited the park during a Hunter Valley Uncorked event and you could definitely see how the stalls would wreak havoc on the grass - which is a shame because this would be a nice place to kick a footy around (as long as your aim was true - otherwise the water is perilously close!). That said, I'm quite partial to the fig trees that beautifully line the park. During lunchtime the park is filled with fitness classes, contrasted by the odd lazy sunbather. So dodgy grass aside, it's not a bad place to take a load off and stare across the shimmering bay to Sydney's north shore.

Our purpose of hiring Sydney Jazz Collective was to provide jazz music out on the balcony where most of the guests were. Moreover, we had repeatedly made this request to Tom and Matt but instead, the band spent the entire night playing inside the function room. If we had wanted music inside the function room, we would have used our iTunes playlist and used the indoor PA system to play the music we wanted. Their reluctance to play outdoors initially was due to overcast weather but when the sky cleared up, they still did not make the effort to play outside. Furthermore, following them up to provide feedback also fell on deaf ears as they never returned any of our calls or emails.

It's ridiculous at best. The school principal has the right to change this, not just benefit from us locals turning up to support this. As a matter of principle I would never go here again. I took both salsa and zouk lessons at LDA a few years ago and had so much fun - the teachers are very knowledgeable and patient, the majority are professional dancers who compete both nationally and internationally, so you know you are definitely in good hands. They always make sure to balance out the number of male and female students in the class to ensure a good learning experience and I often saw them doing special deals to increase the number of either men or women when required. Some students had memberships which allowed them to take as many classes as they wanted and they'd literally go every single night - they were super passionate and would often say the school was their second home. I made friends and we often did outings together to dance. I haven't continued to practice, but know many who still do. They also organize balls and congresses and people practice their routine to perfection for several months prior - it's always a fun event that many students sign up for year after year. I always recommend LDA for anyone wanting to take up a new hobby, make some friends and have a bit of fun. The staff is awesome and whether you are dancing for the very first time or you are an advanced student coming from another school, they'll make you feel right at home.
