We did the assessment test with Sylvan and my daughter was in her grade level. Dr. Coker mentioned that she probably doesn't need the tutoring since she is at her grade level. I wanted her to try it. We did few sessions and signed up for a year. My daughter's skills have improved and she is been doing even better in school. This place is wonderful! I cannot recommend it enough. I have a 3rd grader who fell behind during the pandemic and we were really struggling. I was very concerned about her confidence being effected and wondering if we would have to send her to a private school where she could get a little more attention from the teacher and have less rigorous testing etc than we have with the public schools in LAUSD. Since we found Sylvan in Brentwood we have seen her make huge strides and she loves learning now and is almost completely caught up in school after only a couple of months. It is an extremely well organized, professional but personable business where we really do feel supported academically but also emotionally. Dr. Bianca is well versed with the LAUSD school system and the grade requirements which is very reassuring. They also have lots of fun ways to help motivate the kids to learn that offers them incentives and rewards which our daughter loves. When you compare what the cost would be to go to a private school this is a much more affordable and effective option for us that is really helping our 3rd grader improve tremendously in the classroom and her teacher is noticing and commenting that she also sees big improvements being made which is a huge relief for us. We will definitely be continuing with them for the mid to long term future. read more

I signed up for daughter that was finishing 5th grade for math tutoring because I know it can be a big leap for students when they go to middle school. They began with a math assessment and then began reviewing what she knows and when she agreed, they moved beyond what she was learning in her grade. She tested into the higher math class for school and it has mostly been review these last few weeks because of what Sylvan taught her. She came home and said, we did math today that was new for most of the students, but it was review for me. She asked me if I knew why it was review and when I told her I wasn't sure, she said with a smile on her face, it was because of tutoring. It has given my daughter confidence to walk into middle school and not have everything new in class and is even saying she loves math. I am so glad we chose to put her in tutoring here. read more
