Visited this chippy while on holiday in devon after reading reviews on this site, i thought i would ignore the one bad review but unfortuantley it is the only one that was an honest reflection of this place.
I have never left a review before, but my experience drove me to make my first review.
All looked good form the outside, with the queue an proper traditional looking village chip shop, but the main thing, the chips were disgusting.
We had an big order for ten people so gave the list to the guy behind the counter, but we still managed to be a portion of chips and a carton of curry sauce short once home (but we did recieve an exrta jumbo sausage so dog was happy at least)
But the main problem the disgusting FROZEN greasy chips, i have never been to a english fish an chip shop that serves frozen (expensive) chips.
The pies and pasties looked excellent homemade fare, but the reviews i got back were that they were rock hard as if they had being sat there all day and were very exspensive, the only thing that was decent quality was the fish.
So after this we tried a chippy in bideford (trawlers traditional fish and chip shop) which was cheaper, served bigger portions, and had much better quality. read more
