Shortly after arriving in France, I experienced very painful periods. I found Dr. Oppenheim through…read morea list of english speaking doctors provided by the american embassy. I've been followed by Dr. Oppeheim for two years. First she diagnosed me with endometriosis, but provided me very little information on how to properly treat this disease. I did a check up with her every 6 months. The last checkup, she advised me to get a mammagram and another ultrasound for both my breasts and pelvic region, when I saw my cysts had grown, I called her panicked asking what should we do as a course of treatment. As we know endometriosis can have a huge impact on fertility. Our conversation went like this: She asked "well does it hurt?" " Yes sometimes it hurts very bad but mostly ranges..." " well, I don't think we should do anything besides my next appointment is in two months." She's lost my medical folder several times, each time I saw her we'd have to restart all my medical history questions. Her consultations are very pricey, around 50 to 70 euros for thirty mins always beginning with so "why are you here"? well... maybe because I have a reproductive disease, remember? she takes phone calls during your appointment times too, so the whole confidentiality thing, out the window for the patients on the phone you can hear. .... She speaks english, but not at the best level. Her office is in the exam room which I always found strange and a little unhygienic. Otherwise, she's put me on pills I can't support which have made me gain weight, have insane mood changes, and no improving of symptoms, and an increase of bad cholesterol at 23 years old. When I said I wanted to stop the pills, she countered with "are you sure your boyfriend wants to use a condom for contraception" as if it's his choice and not mine that I take a pill. I suggested maybe a ring or iud, and she refused. Also, once she asked how I removed the hair around my area, as if it were medically linked, when I told her, she said, "oh because you did a really good job" UNCOMFORTABLE and unprofessional. Today was the last straw for me. I have already been searching for a more competent doctor that has experience in treating this disease, but I woke up in excruciating pain and had to stay home from school because I can't get out of bed, so I called the specialist that EndoFrance recommended and then called her office to get a copy of my medical folder and all her notes to have during my first appointment with my new doctor, well, surprise, they lost it, and only have my pap smear records. None of the 5 blood tests i've done, none of the ultra sounds, none of the notes she took in our 6 appointments. I also asked for a school note since I can't get out of bed, and they insisted i'd have to have an appointment first. To do what exactly? To have a visual on my pain? not possible. and a waste of time and money. Needless to say, if you want to feel like your doctor cares about you , don't go to this one. If you want to feel like your disease is being treated in an efficient and pro active manner, don't go to this one, if you want to feel like you have control over your treatment and sexual health, definitely avoid this one at all costs. I feel like an idiot going to her for so long and not getting the hell out of there after the second appointment when she diagnosed me. I hope to god this won't have a major consequence on my fertility later on and that the specialist will help me more than this. JUST DON'T EVER WASTE YOUR MONEY ON HER.

My experience with this doctor was quite different from any doctor visit in the States. I was…read morepretty sure I had a sinus infection, which caused copious post nasal drip, which in turn made me cough all night. I hoped time would heal, but a sleepless red-eye and little rest due to relentless sightseeing made things worse. I emailed the doctor with my (amateur) self-diagnosis and asked for an appointment. He responded quickly and I saw him a few hours later. When he examined me, there were none of the usual procedures that my primary care physician would do: no temperature-taking, no blood pressure measurement. He did not look in my ears or nose with an otoscope. He used a flash light to look at my throat, sans tongue-depressor. Then he used a stethoscope, told me to cough three times, and proclaimed that I had bronchitis in addition to a sinus infection. From there, he began writing an Rx (pre-printed with a few medicines listed). I was confused because he didn't ask me more questions about my medical background, so I told him that I have allergies. He looked up at me from his writing, I told him my two antibiotic allergies, and he replied, "You just saved your own life" as he crumpled the scrip he was writing for penicillin. From there, he wrote a new one (on a different pre-printer sheet), explained the dosage instructions, and made me repeat them to him to check my comprehension. I walked out the door with an Rx for a different antibiotic and something like prednisone (!). We walked north to the pharmacy he suggested (and past what certainly were two old, tired-looking prostitutes on St. Denis) and got them filled. To my surprise, the medicines were cheap! (Socialized medicine?) I would give this doctor...3.5 stars because I still don't know if he is a quack. HOWEVER, I do know that within *a couple of hours* I felt SO much better. And I continued to get better. It felt like a miracle. In the end, this visit was worth the €100 cash: it wholly redeemed what started out as a crummy vacation.

Dr Lellouche saw me immediately when in need of an antibiotic in Paris. He was personable and…read moreefficient.
