Came in for breakfast, was craving the Belgium waffles, it started it was covered with fruit and a fruit cup, it was two strawberry cut into slices very thin. That was actually disappointing. The menu should really be updated. I was also promised banana and blueberry on my waffle...I only got slivers of strawberries. Was seriously disappointed. First visit to the Symposium Cambridge. We had a good sized group and made an informal meeting. The service was good. The place was very clean, and the atmosphere was very inviting. I had the steak with sautéed veggies on the side. The steak was nicely seasoned, and the vegetables were still a little firm. Overall, we had a good time and were left alone to have our meeting. My wife and I decided to do lunch at Symposium today. I can't say either of us were super impressed. I've been to a few different locations and have usually left with the same impression. It's a place that aims to be a high end café, but the value for money is rarely there. The food is usually decent, but I rarely think it's worth the money when compared to other restaurants out there. I ordered a sesame thai wrap with fries and felt the serving size was on the small side. Given the Cambridge location isn't too far from my work I was a little surprised they didn't have a lunch menu for the business crowd since it is pretty close to a lot of industrial park businesses. I've previously done breakfast there before, getting the standard bacon, eggs, potato and toast. While it was good, I've definitely had better elsewhere and for about half the cost. read more

Okay, so I came here Thursday for brunch and forgot to review them! I honestly can say that the restaurant was pretty much empty and only had about 4 customers in total. This place has a lot of comfortable seating, so there was no excuse that me and my friend and an elderly couple had to wait a few minutes (because she was 'cleaning' tables last minute)... Why are you cleaning tables last minute? I'm sorry but in a empty restaurant.. the tables should be Clean and we should All have been seated, right away.. Considering the restaurant being empty! I heard the food is terrible here but wow.. that is such a huge lie, or I literally just had one breakfast item and cannot speak for other breakfast options on the menu.. Anyways... Here is what I got: Sour mimosa - (it was called something else but I forgot the name but it pretty much tasted like a mimosa but had the word sour at the beginning and it was Amazing). I will be ordering this drink again and it is a Must Try! French toast with caramel sauce and bananas - This is sooooooooo good, it was like a warm caramel and syrup sauce and I love syrup, normally I would add extra syrup on top but they didn't give me any but I had enough Delicious sauce to last me until my breakfast was done and oh my goodness.. I don't think I'm comfortable ordering anything else from there, after I tried this? You have to try this... Sausages - I asked for them on the side, instead of bacon and they were Big and Delicious.. I dipped it in my caramel sauce and took a bite (as you can see in my photo). Fruit - I asked for that on the side but it wasn't a substitute.. so I had to pay extra and if I were to go again, I wouldn't do it.. the meal I had came with enough good but fruits are good for you and I felt for fruit and it was good.. can't complain, it's just fruit, lol White Sangria - Delicious and Huge! Enough to share between 2 people.. me and my friend were sharing it and I left with a tiny bit left in it.. I would order this again but there is something about that sour mimosa, that just makes me want to come back.. Despite the mixed reviews.. I recommend this place.. I heard they are known for there desserts but I didn't have any room for them (I wish I did, I'm a dessert type of gal).. so I'm definitely going to be back here, I may even become a regular.. They shouldn't have given me that drink or that out of this world Delicious French Toast, are you kidding me? I could of tried Symposium so many times and always decided on other places.. It was my first time here and the food and drinks was a food experience. The drinks took awhile to come and I think they should be more fast paced and more enthusiastic, when serving customers, besides that, the ladies were nice and easy going here but they preferred staying in the bar / kitchen area, instead of looking to see if customers wanted to order more! Had a catch-up lunch here with some old friends today. We all ordered off of the breakfast menu and the food was absolutely fantastic. I had the Eggs Benedict which accompanies free coffee/tea refills. Smoked salmon was fresh and delicious. The wait staff was attentive, though we had to wait a bit to get refills on our drinks. Atmosphere is lovely and quiet. Bathrooms were clean. Would definitely come back here again. read more

This was probably my worst experience ever at a restaurant. I first asked for a banana waffle and they said they had no banana which is weird not to have a banana when its one of the main things they put on dessert so I ordered one of there other crepes and it tasted so bad that I asked them if they could take it back kindly and get something else but they said NO we can not. The manager said they will not take it off the bill but you could get something else. The server was also rude she just tossed our bill to us and did not say anything to us. My friends also said their food was terrible and got food poisoning the next day. Honestly, I would never go back there again. read more

I went here for breakfast and ordered a BLT, it came with thick slices is tomato on it and with little bacon, when I bit into it all I could taste was tomato. Also asked for mayo and couldn't even tell it was on there. I gave it 3 stars for the lovely atmosphere and great coustomer service. read more

We booked a reservation for Mother's Day and the service we got was horrible. Our waitress, was good, but it took over an hour to get SOME of the food to the table. Then another 20 mins for the next bit of food, then another 15 for the rest. When we asked to speak to a manager, Lori, came over and did not act sympathetic or understand our frustration. She simply said that it was Mother's Day and the kitchen was backed up, but her job was on the floor. People who were seated after us were served their food before us, then another table. When the bills came, the only one bill had a discount on it - they only had to pay for their drinks. That is because the waitress did that, not the manager. When the other two bills came back at full amounts, we said we weren't paying full price. The waitress handled the situation very well. She went back to the owner, who was too busy to come out and talk to us herself. Our bills had a discount, but not a significant one. Lori, then handled things poorly once again, she should not be a manager she did not take responsibility for the horrible service and used it being Mother's Day as the excuse. Well any good restaurant or manager, would ensure that they were better equipped to deal with the rush of Mother's Day. We were not the only ones who were complaining about the service today, but I can guarantee you that my family, both my sisters's family and my mother will not be back. As a parting remark, Lori told us that our waitress was crying in the back. Totally and completely unprofessional and immature. We made sure our waitress knew that our frustration was not at her and we all left tips for her cause of what her employer put her through. read more

Had to return totally undercooked and unsafe chicken wings. Although I was not charged for the meal, no effort was made to communicate the much needed sense of horror at such poor quality food. I just had the worst experience that I've ever had with take-out dinner. We ordered Fish & Chips, Turkey Bacon Club Sandwich, and the Carrot Cake. We had to call back about the Fish & Chips because the fish was barely battered if it was at all. It was extremely dry as if it was 2 or 3 days or and just reheated in the microwave or oven(not fried). There was no coleslaw and I was told they've run out of coleslaw 3 months ago however didn't mention that to me when I ordered the food. I said I'm coming back to return the food and I'll take something else Because it was very clear that whoever is cooking doesn't know how to make a decent fried fish anyways. I then asked it to be replaced by the Teriyaki Rice Bowl. Brought that home and it didn't have Sesame seeds or scallions(green onions) in it which is in the description. The rice was gluggy and there was way too much Teriyaki sauce in it. The green peppers weren't even stir fried properly. Who's in that kitchen?! My sandwich was alright. I mean it was a sandwich. I wasn't expecting anything special. This is the first time I've ever left a review because it had to be addressed. This restaurant was a great neighbourhood restaurant when the previous owner ran it. Since it took new ownership I had been weary of trying the food evidently for good reason. The bartender remained the same and he's been great company whenever I sat at the bar. The servers have always been very personable and kind. The only staff member that changed to my knowledge is the cook and like I said, the food took a toll. I will never go back there for cooked food again. Their cakes have always been consistent because those are made by a different supplier. I will continue to get those. read more

This has been a favourite restaurant for our family for a few years now. Although we have dined in, we often prefer takeout. The process for takeout is to place your order over the phone. I'm always impressed at how friendly and attentive the server is on the phone. However, my displeasure arises when the order is picked up, brought home and I am charged for items that I ordered but did not receive. Unfortunately, this situation has happened on a number of occasions (seriously almost every takeout order has had an issue!!!). What happens is that we call, we return to the restaurant, we pick up our missing item and they apologize. Each time, we extend our forgiveness and continue to order hoping that the next time, our order will be correct. My optimism is gone and I will never order from Symposium Cambridge ever again! I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of attentiveness to detail and the inconvenience created as a result of missing an item from each order we have placed and we're charged for. Never once, has the server or the owner offered compensation or a coupon for a free meal during any of the times items were missing. Never were we given a refund for an item for which we didn't return to the restaurant to retrieve because of the inconvenience at the time! As a result of this you have lost a loyal customer who has spent an average of 75 dollars every other week in takeout! read more
