Art on electrical boxes!
This is a public art program commissioned by the city or the electrical company to beautify Helsinki. Every city has these big grey boxes that the utility companies jam all their wires and connections in. What Helsinki has done is to dress these boxes up!
They seem to be curated, and not just randomly decorated. They have a street artist or some sort of amateur painter paint up a cover for the box, and it's covered by a plexiglass cover to protect the art from the elements. It's done a great job of minimizing graffiti, and looks really cool. It's a great way to see the public art scene in town!
The boxes are all over the city, there must be hundreds of them. Each one is unique. read more
