The breakfast has fresh real food which tastes good and catered for meat eater, vegs, vegans, glutton free etc. What can I say I stay here every time but its is Sweden so it's not cheap. I would recommend to go for an upgrade as you would get a much larger room. The spa is very relaxing and the entry fee is very low on weekdays. The restaurant is a little bit pricey but the food quality is great and the portions are large. I do recommend the frequent visitors to enter the loyalty program.

All the baked goods, jams, waffles, ect. were homemade and fantastic! Those scones were out of control!! I think my boyfriends parent's eyes popped out of their sockets when they saw how much he piled on his plate. You don't want to take either of us to a buffet of any kind if you don't want to go crazy and try everything. I'm guilty of heaping it on quite a bit too, but who doesn't love a good buffet?! ;) This hotel/restaurant is in the center of the cute little historic downtown area of Söderköping and is apparently pretty historic itself! This place gets the "Brunn" in it's name (which means a water "well" in English) from the fact that it was built over a naturally fed well. The well was apparently used to supply the victorian style "spa and heath retreat" that existed here back in the day. The hotel still has a spa here on site, but from what I hear the "heath treatments" are much more relaxing nowadays. LOL! I don't think I would've enjoyed my tea as much if it was following an enema. Apparently, that was a real hot offering back then! LOL! I can't really comment on the room conditions here, I wasn't a hotel guest so your guess is as good as mine there. The downsides of the hotel is that it's not decorated exceptionally well, is a little strangely laid out and the tea buffet was haphazardly placed in a hallway area and didn't feel very fancy. I did really like the outdoor seating area next to this little grassy area with a gazebo. I don't think that area has been changed much since the early 1900's. It felt like I could have been dressed in full victorian clothing (parasol and all) enjoying my tea and still be right at home! Overall, pretty enjoyable tea! I highly recommend walking off the buffet on the beautiful sidewalk going along the Göta Kanal (a canal nearby that has a few restaurants and shops in a small "boardwalk style" area by where it passes through the town) or exploring the little cute medieval town itself! The photos I provide with this review cannot do the property justice. The fact that you can walk around all the art and antiques with no one supervising your visit, is unbelievable! Our room was in the annex, so it was more modern and not filled with antiquities. The room was quite comfortable and did have a flat screen TV. It was also extremely quiet. We dined in the castle, but before we were seated we had the opportunity to meet a gentleman named Ralph. Ralph is 85 years old and was born at the property! We exchanged stories and shared drinks for a while before he showed us to the dining room, what a treat! Dinner? AMAZING! Best dinner we would experience at a lodging in our month in Scandinavia. We started with a fish tartare, toasted brioche, asparagus and greens called rocket. Next was beef, roasted perfectly, with a fantastic rich brown gravy, diced onions and veggies and a wedge of a potato rosti. Last was a sorbet, meringue and a fudge like pastry. We had the wine pairing which proved to have EXTREMELY GENEROUS pours, great selections and was the most reasonable we would see on our entire holiday! Tres magnifique! It tasted great and the fish was fresh and the serving was beautiful. The sashimi contained of tuna, salmon and scallop together with vegetables and fermented soy sauce. Very tasty. As for the main I took the beef fillet with sweet potato fries, chili bearnaise and red wine reduction. The meat was great and perfectly cooked. The fries crispy and the sauces tasted very good.
