Room is clean and spacious but more important that it's well-ventilated with cool air in this unusually hot weather in Switzerland in late September! No skiing during this visit... Hotel is a couple minutes from the train station, which I took from Zurich as my hubby flew back solo to the U.S. I decided to stay over the weekend to meet up with a friend in Bern and she and I will meet up with my college friend tomorrow... Bed was a king but could be separated into two twins which we need and got. bathroom was clean and has nice aesthetics! Room has a small beverage fridge, coffee pot, and hotel sleepers, yay! Great option while in Bern! Lots of restaurants and shops surrounding the area as well made this hotel the most convenient, and welcoming staff was bonus! 4.5 rounding to 5 for great customer service and special accommodations!!!

The friendly staff helped in so many ways--they gave us a great tourist map, stowed away our luggage after check out so that we could see the city unhindered. Gave us advice on tourist spots to go to. Best of all--the hotel is literally 1.5 blocks from the train station. You literally walk down a pedestrian only street and take an escalator down one floor to the indoor train station (Bern's mall-like gathering spot with restaurants and stores). What could be more convenient than that? Truly an awesome place to stay!

Good bed, but a bad shower…read more My wife and I were recently on a Tour of Austria and Switzerland and spent the night at the Holiday Inn Bern-Westside. The room was comfortable, except that I couldn't figure out the thermostat. We arrived and it was cool, but my attempts to warm it up awakened us in the night with it being too hot. Although I had tried pushing the correct buttons, the display never seemed to respond correctly. It got to 26 in the room overnight. The bed was comfortable. A couple of items that have caught me off guard because they are different in the States. First, most beds over in Switzerland appear to only come with a thick, heavy, too-warm comforter; my wife and I are used to: a fitted sheet on the mattress, a flat sheet and then a comforter. This allows you some flexibility between "freeze or fry" with or without the comforter. Second, the shower. We've run into several hotels that have a different style shower than we are used to in the States. The shower makers seem to think that people want no shower curtain, and still can keep the water off the floor with only half a wall of glass. It never worked for me. I ended up spilling lots of water from the shower out on the floor. I couldn't put a bath mat out if I wanted it to stay dry. I guess that's why they all used tile floors instead of carpet. Now the breakfast, that was quite good. One of the experiences that has been good for us on our tour had been being introduced to new food dishes we simply do not have back in the States. This was no exception. There were too choices to mention, but I enjoyed all the ones I had at this Holiday Inn. If you are traveling through Bern and need a place to stay, this Holiday Inn would be a good choice for the reasons I mentioned. Check them out for yourself. (TIP - Ask for help with the thermostat - or you could be uncomfortable)

There is a mall with movie theater and exercise complex (pool usage included with room fee) attached. Rooms are comfortable with a little space in them. Typical European private bathroom with standup shower. Bed is very easy to fall asleep in. No USB ports in room so depend on outlets to power (adapter required for US plugs). Eight floors accessible by 2 elevators. Ate at the restaurant. Decent menu options with good service. There is also a bar onsite.

Yelp Review 2026 #133:…read more We stayed at NH Hotel The Bristol while in Bern. It's about 5 minutes from the train station. There are restaurants across the street, a chocolate shop next door, pharmacies, and points of interest nearby. The lobby is small but it's comfortable. There's a bar next to the front desk. We left our bags at the front desk because we arrived early in the morning and check in is at 3pm. They told us we can check in earlier than 3pm. So, we walked around Bern and came back to the hotel at 2pm and our room was ready! The staff was fantastic. Warm and welcoming despite the weather being the opposite. The room was quite spacious but we didn't have luggage taking up space. The toiletries smelled nice but I bring my own anyway because I'm allergic to smelly soaps and lotions. The bed was comfortable - I was watching TV and accidentally took a nap when I should have been exploring the city. The bathroom situation wasn't the best. The shower, toilet, sink are all there without anything separating them except for a thin shower curtain. So, after you shower, almost the whole bathroom floor is wet. I love the wall art. I went to different floors just to check out the artwork. They're for sale. The windows open fully which was nice so we can get some fresh air in the room. But the American restaurant across the street had some loud people outside so, we had to close the windows. Plenty of English channels. Free bottled water. We paid close to $400/ night - not the nicest hotel we've stayed at in Switzerland but it was good.

The windows open, which was quite important because you have no temperature control, and we found it hot. They have towel warmers, which was very nice. From first entering and handed hot towels for our hands and a lovely little glass of fruit sorbet to relax with while checking in to knocks at the door with little packages of goodies with chocolate, drinks and toiletries(not asked for) We were offered free taxi service and complimentary room upgrade. The rooms are beautiful and quite spacious. A rain-shower is always a winner. Good amenities, a nespresso machine and minibar included in price and restocked each day. Turn down of the room in the evenings left some very welcomed swiss chocolate and fruit drinks. Great location opposite the train station and right in the heart of Bern. For a seemingly large hotel having two people at the small front desk was insufficient mid morning when we arrived and we experienced a bit of a wait due in part to a group ahead of us. Our double boutique room was very nicely updated with an amazing rain shower (more like a waterfall) and modern fixtures. The king bed was comfortable and the clean, modern room had a nice sized king bed. Unfortunately due to the age and makeup of the hotel there is no AC. Travelling during an unseasonably warm (and more and more common) September the room was a bit on the warm side. There are windows that open and you can ask for a fan from the front desk. Breakfast was included and there was a very nice selection plus the ability to order eggs. Really liked the updated rooms and especially the bathroom but would only stay there during non-AC weather-not summer-if returning to Bern in the future.
