Whoever designed the window display is an artist as a scarecrow dressed in the most yummy butterfly halter-neck stands in a landscape of flowers. I entered in a trance like state and the lovely assistant Rebecca helpfully talked me through the stock. I loved the fact that they do not buy in bulk and you view each garment as a "piece" rather than simply clothes. Prices are moderate, slightly more than high street chains but you don't mind paying £60 for a unique Nood creation as opposed to £45 for a high street clone. Colours are bright and fabrics are great quality. Recognisable names such as Religion get into bed with new designer wares. This is no run of the mill ladieswear. A new range of gorgeous dove grey vintage inspired oilcloth bags and cute jewellery are also available to compliment your outfit. Open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am -6pm, Nood also opens its doors on a Sunday (12-5pm)- very handy for weekday nine to fivers. So did I buy the butterfly dress? This longevity is testament to the enduring talent of owner Alison, who has continually offered an eclectic mix of clothes, accessories and shoes from her own portfolio as well as interesting ranges from other designers like Religion, Gash and Get Cutie. It never feels stagnant in here, she keeps it fresh and all the accessories, bags and belts are so different to what you'd find on the high street. What I love most about this store though is it caters for every pocket. You can see why it has such a wide appeal.

The shop is fairly small, but the wide range of stock is neatly placed on east access rails. The only downside is the staff sometimes seem to have been a little distracted when I popped in, I don't know if this is because I am not head-to-toe in designer gear, but I get the feeling it is!

One star off because while there are many sizes and styles listed online, the stores usually only carry one or two of each variety leading you to have to purchase them online and have arranged for either pick up in store, or home delivery. So it is best to use the store to inspect the individual items first before purchasing, but you might end up going online to order them anyway. Prices were excellent as always and delivery was free and of course John Lewis has a wonderfully large parking lot. That is also free of charge. For online pick up or Customer Service head around to the parking behind the store and enter from the rear entrance.

However, needs must and sometimes shopping can't be avoided so if this is the case I want somewhere that will make it as easy as possible. I like this branch of John Lewis as it's easily accessible by road (just off the M60 and Handforth bypass) with plenty of parking, making it super easy to pull up and head straight in. It's pretty big, spread over 3 floors, but still doesn't feel like it swallows you up and everything is very easy to find. It's also very neat and tidy which is pretty important to me as I hate it when a shop is in total disarray (think the hellhole that is Primark) as it just makes the whole shopping experience more stressful than it should be. I've always found the staff to be approachable and friendly and will happily dispense advice on the best toaster or coffee machine for your buck, if you so desire. John Lewis is definitely one of the more premium department stores (not quite Harvey Nics but definitely not Debenhams) so the products and prices obviously mirror this but if you are after gifts or items that are of a higher quality then it's a brilliant option. Another major plus point for JL is that if you sign up for their loyalty card online they send you vouchers for free coffee and cake every month - this sweetens the shopping experience no end!

An average price of a top can be £75 so this is not every day shopping for the masses, but somewhere to go for something a little special. The stunning assistant Daria is not your run of the mill shop assistant, well what do you expect? This ain't your run of the mill kinda shop! Daria has a degree in textile design and can talk you through the fabulous fabrics. A good friend with a disability told me that Maria and Daria have the ability to naturally put customers at ease and they made her whole experience pleasurable whilst others have been painful and embarrassing. Eternal Envy is eco-friendly too, customer's receive a 10% discount if they return and reuse the boutique's pretty stripey bags. Great service, great clothes; eternal envy can be a good thing if you check out this goldmine.

A fresh green exterior leads you into a boudoir of flocked wallpaper and huge ornate mirrors. The store itself is small and can get really crowded especially on weekends, yet the changing room is spacious with two cubicles ( I just whip my clothes off in the area outside them, it beats a long wait). From floral boho maxis to vintage looking 60's lace minis. From cute summer dresses ( I bought a yellow/purple floral creation last year and was never out of it), to sexy sequinned numbers, Fred's has something for everyone. Prices are superb too! Most dresses range from only £18 to £30 with a couple of exceptions. The staff are terrific, Fred is so helpful and amazing at sourcing original clothes, teenage Saturday girls cannot do enough for you. I recently bought a dress for a wedding at £85 from Fonda only to discover the exact same item sold at £47 (at full price, not a sale item) at HoF. Fonda refuses to give refunds leaving me stuck with the over payment. I took the liberty of googling a number of other items, each one being vastly more expensive at Fonda. These two shops may be useful to browse for ideas but always google before committing to purchase or be prepared to feel thoroughly ripped off!
