Now I give the French a lot of grief. They eat snails and brains and cheese that smells like toe…read morejam. They think a 35 hour work week is exhausting and have made going out on strike an art form but they've hung on to one idea in which many Americans no longer believe; that if you do something stupid and get yourself hurt that it's your own darn fault not someone else's.
Imagine what an amusement park that worked on that logic would be like. Imagine how fun a park would be that hadn't been sanitized and made positively idiot-proof by dozens of lawsuits. It would be wonderful. That park is Nigloland.
The rides were fun and fast and yes, a bit dangerous. The steering and the accelerator on the go cart really work so if you drive like a lunatic you may get into a real accident.
And the parking lot is mostly grass and has a tree between each stall so your car never gets too hot. And because the French are so fond of food you can have a pork chop and a glass of wine for lunch at a kid's amusement park.
That's right folks, a real meal, served on a ceramic plate with a little wine served in a glass.
It felt wonderful and a little strange to be treated like an adult at a public business. Looks like Americans could learn a thing or two from the French.
